    I love this channel. I am 66 years old and grew up with the Beatles music and popularity. I was fortunate to be alive when all their albums and singles were first released. I am from the southeast in the USA! They made us all look forward to their next albums back then in the 1960's. Thank you!

      I thought EMI did a great job with the Beatles 2019 box that and also the Beatles vinyl box set from 2012 it is such beautiful packaging. I am really love the packaging of the Vinyl of the 2012 stereo box that I bought that at my favorite music store here in Portland it was great even though people say that it was an authentically used from the original stereo master tapes but I think it’s still a fantastic remastered 100 and the 290 g vinyl that is just absolutely fantastic. From the packaging to the vinyl itself

    Really interesting, thank you. My parents bought me the World Records set in 1979, which by then comprised of 25 singles, as they'd added the picture sleeve edition of Sgt.Pepper 7" from 1978, along with an extra insert explaining this. I loved my 'green sleeve' set and it had a lot of plays, especially in 1979/80 as I only had a few originals. I did buy a few of the 80s pic sleeve editions later on, and a few of the '20 years ago' pic discs, not really to play though. Quality issues aside, I do like the look of the 2019 set, the foreign picture sleeves/labels looking really neat. I'll probably never have the cash to buy one nowadays though! I look forward to these videos, thanks again.

    I glad that I bought the 2019 set last year. I had always wanted the original 22 singles. I have the 1982 box set which I bought around 1983/84 brand new. Also bought the EP box set on the same day. I have several original 60s 7"s too. I bought the 2019 set on day of release and have to say initially wasn't overwhelmed with the artwork chosen for some of the sleeves and thought they could have used better designs from other countries. However, the sound quality on the new set is absolutely outstanding (they have clearly thought about modern record players sound-wise) and so this is the set I go to now if I fancy playing 45s. I have also got some European EPs which I think would make a great box set for the artwork of these sleeves alone 🙂. Really enjoy watching your channel and have been catching up on all the posts

    5:39 So the re-writing of history was already going on by 1982?
    PPM wasn't No. 2, it was Number 1 on ALL compiled charts, except for the least accurate of the bunch, Record Retailer, which for some stupid reason (I think it being a top 50) has since become 'cannon' as the 'Official UK Chart' for the 60's.

    The 1982 set had nice picture sleeves, unfortunately, some of them were incorrect for the time they were supposed to represent, Yellow Submarine, Get Back, and Old Brown Shoe in particular were much latter photos than from when the singles were issued. One would have thought EMI a little more conscientious about that. Great video !

    Excellent, very informative video’s as always Andrew. Just wondering if you’d noticed the biographical insert sheet that was included in the 1976 issue has George’s birth year as 1942 rather than 1943. These simple errors make me wonder how much effort was really put in to compiling these sets. I think the effort and attention to detail of the latter day issues better reflects the respect this groundbreaking band deserves.

    Hi Andrew. Growing up, the 1976 set singles were everywhere to be found yet even though I was already a huge Beatles fan..they never appealed to me. They looked so cheap. A VERY lazy release by EMI. The 1982 set at least had visual appeal. 45s from both sets commonly appear at local op shops. Great to know the 2019 set is the winner. I may just purchase one. The packaging is very appealing.

I've looked at it for years but never came close to buying it because I'm not that interested in singles, but I couldn't pass it up at that price. The seller must be tired of it taking up space on the shelf because I consider that a clearance price.

    What about the comparative running times? Some of the reissues feature sped-up tracks that raise the pitch of the vocals so much that it reminds listeners of that other famous 1960s recording group, Alvin and the Chipmunks. :)

    Very helpful video. I really like the look of the 2019 set and could have had it for about £100 but the many negative reviews mentioning warps put me off. Hey Andrew, great videos. I’m just getting back into vinyl and have spent a lot of time and money during the past few months acquiring and re-acquiring Beatles vinyl. I think I’ve watch all of your videos at least 2 or 3 times each. So glad I rediscovered this hobby, it’s been a tad expensive but so much fun. Nothing like analog records and cassettes.
    If you don’t mind a question, do the original single mixes of Please Please Me/Ask Me Why exist anywhere on vinyl outside of the original UK 45 pressing? I’m not adverse to purchasing an original single but I’m trying to find clean versions of those mixes without breaking the bank. Thanks for you time and please keep giving us Beatles nuts these great videos!

    I have the 82 New Zealand set witch is like the British set, they even used the British sleeves. The box is a Black box with Gold letters and a lift off top. The pressings are very nice from NZ with black,silver and yellow labels. I also have the 82 Australia Maroon box with silver letters. They had a lot more singles. The sleeves are these cheap paper black and white but does come with a list of all the singles. They seem to be very nice pressings with black and silver labels ,no 45 punch out just a small hole. Strange set as Love Me Do was the fifth release with I Saw Her Standing There on the B side. The NZ pressing stamps are the same as most. The Aussie stamps are different , Love Me Do has two different numbers. Two on the label and one on the record. Strange!

  • @IndigoDavei
    @IndigoDavei 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've got the 1982 set. One disappointment for me at the time was the use of the stereo version (not even a fold down!) of 'I Am the Walrus' on the B-side of 'Hello Goodbye' - the 1987 pic disc, however, is mono (but noisy). The 1986 pic disc of 'Yellow Submarine' also uses the correct mono mix, rather than the fold down in the '82 set. Perhaps the pic discs mostly used the correct versions??? (though not for 'Love Me Do'). It's a shame they all have such noisy surfaces.
