I bought thus and put it on a brand new windshield. It lasted less than 2 months before a stone cracked our windshield.

Really? Ours was on for over 2 years and never got a crack.
Just tried this. The install kit is a separate order item. Ours did not come with the convenient label or any instructions, but its easy to tell the layers apart. If you do not get this right the first time taking the film off and restarting is not an option. It leaves odd marks. We will see if they go away with time. All that said, you will get marks,dings and chips over time anyway and if this prevents a serious crack and having to replace the windshield its still worth it. Thanks for the vid, it Definitely helped.

Yea, my cracked the third month I had it when an electrical contractor's truck kicked up a rock on the interstate. It was a little star that I couldn't get fixed quick enough and it stretched to the side about 3 inches.
How much was that?
Wish I did this with my jlu. Got 3 cracks. Waiting for it to go to upgrade and cover with film etc
Nice work. This is cheaper than the Gorilla 🦍 Gorilla Glass Covering Protectorant on the JT dealerships. It gives that factory appearance like new.

So, basically it is an exterior window tint kit without the tint. A little thicker, but sun and rocks will probably beat this up over time so you are taking this off and replacing regularly. Wondering if it costs about the same to just replace the window every couple years. Have you ever put a screen protector on a cell phone? Pain in the butt to get to look perfect. This looks bigger but the same
We just took the ClearPlex off our JL after two years of use. You are correct, over time is started to have a haze to the film, but again I got two years of protection for $100. The new windshield cost $500 installed, so if you do the math I could get 10 years of protected windshields for the $500.

I’ve had it on for 2 years and it’s still good. It’s starting to show a little haziness, but nothing that affects driving at all.
What tires are those stacked in your garage?
They are the 35" Tires we use for wheeling on stock JL Wheels.

How has this held up for you in almost 4 months? I got hit with a rock a couple of weeks back and now I have crack straight down in the middle of the windshield. Did your windshield get hit again after the install? Does it show some scratching or clouding? - gossamer_the_gladiator
Hey man, we have had it on our JL for about 18 months and now it’s to the point it needs to be removed because of the scratching/clouding. But it held up real well for the 18 months.
