When one door closes, another opens. You've got this Jaime. As for my favourite author, when I was younger I LOVED reading Brian Jacques. He is the author who inspired me to become a writer myself. His Redwall series got me through school as I didn't have a lot of friends. But reading his series and disappearing into that world made everything better. I still often think about those books and I have now encouraged one of my friend's kids to read it and she is very excited about it.

I love this idea. I wish authors would make a list of their favorite authors so we could also check them out too. It’s hard to pick one favorite author… my favorite book is Fahrenheit 451 but that is the only book I’ve read by Ray Bradbury. I would say my current authors that I’m working on reading almost everything they have written are Emily Henry, Abby Jiminez, and Tamora Pierce, Rebecca Ross.

I wonder if I would like Jade City, I've been on the fence about it but it sounds good and I loved Six of Crows, though I think that was more for the characters than the mafia aspect. From your description, I might actually give Shadow and Bone a go!! This is so controversial since everyone loves Six of Crows but I didn't really like it since we got little to no worldbuilding and I didn't care about the characters then the plot was quite basic imo but if these characters gave you more of a connection and there was worldbuilding, I feel like it could be like 3.75 stars or higher for me!! (Which, to me, means above average and good). Edit: Jade City is maybe seeming quite up-my-alley as well tbh!! Great video btw, sorry to hear you got laid off :(( I hope you're doing okay and don't feel too much pressure currently.

Honestly I don't get why people don't like Shadow and bones compared to Six of crows, But for me personally Shadow and bones is the favorite in Grishaverse. None of her other works in that world hit the same.
