  • Cheyenne Jackson's journey began as a closeted musical-loving kid in a tiny town in Idaho. He has gone on to star in 7 Broadway shows and a myriad of film and TV projects. He's currently co-starring as Mayim's love interest in their new Fox show Call Me Kat. In this episode, Cheyenne opens up and shares touching stories on how sobriety helped him define his path as he navigated depression, anxiety, and addiction.

My love for Cheyenne just grew exponentially after this interview. He lay himself bare and shared his amazing journey. And despite his success he's so humble and just so sweet.
Also, this episode just proved why Mayim is a queen in the LGBTQA+ community with the way she defended Cheyenne about playing the role of Max.
Another wonderful episode, thank you Mayim and Jonathan 💕

"Mayim Bialik's Breakdown" is awesome. I know "Call Me Cat" is wonderful but "Mayim Bialik's Breakdown" is equally critical! However, "Mayim Bialik's Breakdown" needs to be expanded and simulcast on Bravo or mainstream (with a TV rating of PG-14 or Mature) So that the conversation can maintain its richness and continue to be filled with depth and bypass the "false television sheen dance" This experience and level of expertise needs a full (daily or at the very least weekly) exposure to a mass audience somewhere.
Because, it is so honest and engaging and filled with depth. (No Disrespect) Mayim is the Doctor that Doctor Phil McGraw wishes he could fulfill the perspective of on television.
She is genuine without bombast or snark; nor is she passive aggressive with an overarching sense of look at my knowledge base; none of that. Instead, she looks at the truth, beauty, and the honor in each individual circumstance and life story. Please generally consider this suggestion, I hope it happens. Thanks - John Collins

Just catching up here. Interesting to see that I'm not the only one whose mind went to food to relate to Jackson's description of the obsession of the alcoholic. It is hard for me to eat and socialize because I am obsessed like that with the food. "Why aren't they eating that? How do they just carry on a conversation like there's not food sitting there?" I have to have rules about food. Clearing the table is helpful.

What an incredible chat with Cheyenne. He was so open and honest. On the ADHD discussion, I was diagnosed at 50. A lot of times, women aren’t diagnosed because they don’t present with the hyperactivity aspect of ADHD. My counsellor used the glasses example when explaining how medication can work for some people - that all of a sudden they see the world more clearly. Also, many people who are diagnosed as adults have developed their own coping mechanisms. I totally get the overwhelm of too much busyness and noise. My non-ADHD friends don’t get it, but it can be a lot. It’s good to see that people are talking about adult diagnosis and about medications being okay (there are many different kinds - not everything works for everyone). There are SO many co-morbidities with ADHD, as well as there being such a wide variety of symptoms, no wonder it’s difficult to diagnose. And there isn’t a ‘medical test’ you can take that will provide a conclusive answer. This was the first of your podcasts I’ve listened to. Can’t wait to check them all out! Thanks for being you! Nice to see (and hear) that you’re hanging out with a fellow Canadian! Hi Jonathan, from Halifax, Nova Scotia. 👋🏼

Truly an inspiring story. It is amazing how incredible it is to hear the stories of other people. So much of this episode spoke to me in ways that I didn't even realize I needed it to and I think that is the point of this podcast. I found this podcast a few days ago. Goodness. This resonated with me so much. I have been married for 18 years to my husband. An American fundamental Christian who turned his back on the church. We live in London. Met on business when he was here. Obviously.
I started drinking a little too much a few years ago. I know this. Need to stop. There is an age gap of 14 years between us. Me being older. However, I am so in love with him and he with me but feel that there is nowhere to go now. I have had 8 days without drinking. Only 8 but it is a start. Here is to many more. Thank you Mayim and Cheyenne.

Im starting ADHD medication as an adult this week... thank you for talking about this.... My doctor asked a lot of questions where I found out I'd had put in all these coping mechanisms in to handle something I didn't even know I was doing!
So much of what you talked about your experiences with ADD are very similar to mine! Looking at a menu is so overwhelming I always order the same thing or the same thing as someone else cause I can't look at it without feeling overwhelmed!

Running a business, raising three children, working out- I didn’t think this type A could find content that could keep my attention and leave me feeling refreshed. Thank you so much.

@@MayimBialik First of all, I must say I cried for a while after seeing you replied to my comment, I love you so much😢❤ and second of all, one of the most sagnificant things I realized about myself was about religion. Cheyenne said that he didn't feel like he belongs in his town where everyone were very religious and I very much identify with that. And the truth is that most of the time I hide the fact that I'm not even sure I believe God exists. I never told my parents how I feel and I know I should and I know they wouldn't be mad, but they will be disappointed and that's even worse. Hearing Cheyenne talking about it meant a great deal to me, knowing that an actor which I admire as much as I admire him has gone through a similar experience to mine is very important to me and it gave me motivation. Each and every episode of your podcast gave me motivation, every time I listen to one, I find out new things about myself and think about things more deeply. Thank you so much for this podcast, and thank you for being my greatest inspiration❤

Wow! Would have liked to have had this TH-cam program in the early stages of my life. What a difference it would have made. However, it is making a difference now (at age 70 almost 71) I feel abrnormallly normal or perhaps not strange nor alone. I thought I was the odd woman out. I have watched so many episodes (not in order) and am looking forward to watching all episodes. Thank you for creating this as it is enlightening and insightful. It just makes sense of nonsensical. Mayim, Johnathan, Bev, and guests, you are the best. You make a significant difference. Love Mayim's laugh and the interaction betweeen each person. Better than the "stuff" on the internet or television. Shalom!

I love this interview. I wish tv talk shows talked more serious issues with some light hearted issues. I feel like there is not enough serious questions asked. Cheyenne Jackson is such an inspiration. I love how he doesn't box himself in. He is so humble and grounded. I also love Call Me Kat. I love it because I feel like people can relate to the characters. I know that I can relate to the character of Kat. All the characters are unique and funny in their own special ways. I love all the characters on the show. I have to say, my favorite scene was when Max asked Kat to get a bite to eat with him and Kat says "Let me just go upstairs and change into something nicer." Max asks why and Kat says "Cause I just threw this on for work." What he replied back with, I thought was the best, "Are you comfortable?...Do you care what other people think of you?...Then let's go." I just love that scene.

Love that scene too! I love the show as well and when at the end they wave to the audience to signal that it’s the end of the episode is my favorite. When we see them all pop up from behind the furniture. So unique

So loving your podcast!!! Already loved Call me Kat, but oddly enough, I had no idea who Cheyenne was until that show! Love getting to know all of your castmates - thank you for having them on!! Thank you for bringing up the subject of overstimulation also! I often feel overwhelmed by lights and sounds as well - especially chewing/mouth noises. I can barely stand to hear myself eat these days, much less anyone else! Have to wear headphones in the store often if it is loud and crowded and I am already stressed - much prefer to shop early on a Sunday morning - so quiet then. Can't stop thinking about donuts now by the way. Thanks Mayim. 🤨

I saw My Fair Lady on Broadway when I was 10. I was a little country girl from Virginia. I remember getting goosebumps when the overture started to play and was completely mesmerized by this amazing performance. I refused to get out of my seat during intermission for fear someone would take it. Many years later, I lived in Manhattan and had ready access to all things creative. But I never reacted to another performance like I did to that first experience.
