Guys I definitely recommend buying this filter, I’ve had 2 of them in a 220 gallon tank, they’re fantastic, you can fit around 2.5 KG if media in one tray and they have a large flow rate, and a UV bulb they’re definitely worth the price.
I bought one and have it setup- flow rate is the same as my Penn plex 700 pretty much, hose came with a pin hole (seller is sending me a replacement) but for $179 off Amazon it's not a bad price and it is big, easy to setup, very easy to use, big space for media of hour choice.
Hi, is there somewhere I can download a pdf manual that explains all the settings on the smart controller? Do the UV light settings represent the number of hours that the light is on?
After 6 weeks of trying to get my replacement valve that leaked after barely 24 hours, it's finally back up and running. Except now it sounds like it's sucking in air and the flow will reduce to next to nothing. I put it in feed mode so it'll purge the air out. That fixes it for a while but it keeps doing it.
The F stands for feed time which it will shut the pump off for a designated time while u feed ur fish, and the P is for how much flow u have coming through it.
I was really excited to receive mine yesterday and opened the box to find the same issue. After examining it, I found no way of repairing it in which I shouldn't have to. It's a flawed design there. The two clips doesn't snap to hold the valve onto the nipple. I couldn't even get to the point of testing it for leaks as a lot of people suggest because they're already known to leak. Consumers shouldn't have to take brand new products apart to lube anything up to make sure it works. Now it seems it's becoming the norm to expect problems with these filters even when they're brand new. I'm not happy at all !
Rath Man YEEES!!! My dad owns a few and so he got me one for Christmas. My valve pops off with very little effort! Leaked everywhere! Thankfully I saw it and stopped filling the tank. I did a quick video showing the issue. This is AWFUL! I mean - who wants to go through all this trouble just to flood their house? 😢 Here’s the video: th-cam.com/video/KOy2Up58C-U/w-d-xo.html
If this is not an exact copy of the Fluval FX range i don't know what is, but in saying that, i like it alot, someone commented that the flow is the same as a Penn Plax 500.....Really ?
After setting up this product. The UV did not work. I have tried 4 different bulbs/tubes, but still get a error message come up. I imported this filter from the USA; because it had the UV. I have spent hours trying to either get advice on how to get it working. Or where i can purchase a new controler. I have Emailed MING trading a couple of times. But have not got a responce. So it looks as if i am going to end up with a exspensive paper bin. Feel let down by Ming Trading. I feel they could look after their customers better, by replying. I was going to order a couple of HW3000.For my other tanks But i might try a AQUAEL 700 instead.
@@truereefkeeping6022 now if I could get this thing to quit sounding like it's sucking in air. As soon as petsmart has the fx6 on sale again this thing is gone.
Hi Ming, can the HW-5000 be used as a pond filter? Meaning can the canister be placed at the same height as that of the tank? Are the canister filter capable of sucking water without the help of gravity? I believe the pond filter will have a separate submersible pump placed in the tank. Kindly share your expert opinion.
Depends where you live, I live in Egypt and I got 2 of them from a local fish store, if you live in the USA then you probably wouldn’t find it in a fish store, so order it online.
I sent an email to customer service and have not received your response The valves are leaking on my Sun Sun 5000 and I am unable to find replacement parts. I'm also unable to find the o-rings.
Hopefully you got it sorted by now. But you have to call Ming Trading and stay on them. Took me 5 weeks to finally get a replacement. This filter is garbage. So much so SunSun pulled the plug on it. Which is why you can't find these filters or any parts.
Oh good stuff. Is it trying to kill its competitor with the controller? Haha. I would still get the fx6. They are $150 every black Friday limited stocks. I mean if fx6 is not on sal for $150 and i need a filter asap then i would get this one.
I bought one got pissed off with it, gave it away. then the person I gave it to got fed up with it after two weeks and threw it in the garbage. I thought it was a piece of junk. I went and got an FX6 and I love the thing, it has never failed me. Live and learn, you get what you pay for. Sometimes trying to save a few bucks doesn't save you anything, it actually costs you more. In this case it cost me the price of the Sunsun. On the FX6 there are no stupid error messages and crap, you plug it in and it works, you unplug it and it stops. I needed a reliable filter, never found that in a Sunsun. I found it in the FX6.
Tell the manufacturer/designer to lose the uv sterilizer. It does not work in this setup or any SunSun filter for that matter. It is an absolute waist of time, money and space. Other than the uv sterilizer, SunSun makes a decent filter for the budget conscious fish keeper.
I completely agree with you Jack. The flow rate of the filter is too high for the UV sterilizer to be exposed to the water long enough to do anything.... I own two FX6’s which I use on my 220gal tank. To be honest, I’m not that impressed. I would like to see Eheim make a filter the size of the SunSun or FX6 using the Classic (2217) design. I know Eheim makes a monster filter, but the design is crap. I prefer a filter where water enters on top or bottom end and exits on the opposite end like the classic series.
I bought the drop in SunSun JUP-02 5 Watt uv sterilizer. Money well spent, and my tank has never looked better since using it. Running an FX4 and a 306 on the tank, but the JUP-02 put it over the top.
@@trevormcmanis classic series is a beast. my little 2213 is maintaining a 75 gal with a large sponge filter. I intend to upgrade but for now, it's holding....

Do the UV light settings represent the number of hours that the light is on?
So it's basically an fx6 without the clips so sunsun what's your house to flood. Great job!
Hi I’ve heard these leak from inlet outlet valves also the drain valve ? Regards
What does f control helps to do
May i know how do we know the hw 3000 UV light is blow? Does the display indicator show? Or how do we check it? Many thanks.

Thanks so easy to follow. what’s F for a timer? I set it up mine as F 15 I have 125 gallons.
Also P 40 for water watts

Cough..... flow rate demo?
Real nice video and I want this pump. I am sure it will make my fish taste better.

The HW-5000 should be arriving to the US in July!

My hw5000 drain out valve comes off very easily. Just a slight tug and it falls off. Am i missing something?
I made some recommendations on Jay Wilson's (6/30) initial review of this exciting new SunSun filter!
The outlet is inside water. Is it OK?
