Well, based on the time the story takes place, it does makes sense.
Syd Smith oml tuffnut is actually GENUS?
Sometimes I just wish Dragons: Race to the Edge could be more involved in the movie series since that is where hiccup cannonically
1. Invents the flight suit
2. Creates the fire sword
3. Finds out about dragon hunters
So, I honestly think some of the characters from that series should've shown up sometime in the movie, even in the background or something.
I wish that too! But I don’t see it happening. Simply put, if they did make the TV series more involved in the movies, it would open up a lot of plotholes and such other problems for the series.
Here’s some examples:
- At the end of the 3rd movie, Hiccup says the world belives dragons are completly gone-even though there are many more dragons in the world than just on Berk; like Caldera Cay, the Wingmaidens, and Berserker Island. It’s never addressed what became of those dragons.
- According to the 3rd movie’s epilogue, it only takes a decade for the rest of the world to doubt if dragons even existed. That’s completly ludicrous. Many Vikings, like hunters, are shown to own dragon skins, skulls, bones. There is also plenty of written information that prove dragons exist.
- A lot of dragon species introduced in the TV series have zero mention or even nods in the movies, so that makes it really annoying to figure out if they’re canon in the movie-verse or not.
Basically, I’ve been told that most find it much easier for the sake of plotholes to just dismiss ROB, DOB, and RTTE as non-canon, so it won’t mess with the established ending. Is it frustrating? Heck yes, and what makes it even worse is that THIS explanation doesn’t even work either. Why? The Fireworm! Fireworms were FIRST introduced in Riders of Berk, and they appear in the Hidden World. Sounds like a small oversight, but this throws the canon out of wack. Since Fireworms are in the movie verse, are the TV series canon or not? I’ve been driving myself mad trying to figure this out since the 3rd movie came out! Sorry for writing a novel, haha.

I miss it.
I forget Hiccup’s the chief sometimes bc he seems to have a nonchalant mindset most of the time, but then I remember his nonchalant but accepting attitude towards issues in this movie is why he was chosen by his father in the first place. If Hiccup never began a friendship with Toothless, nothing would have changed and he would never learn how to inspire change, find a better way of living, or be a strong leader worthy of his community. He probably wouldn’t have been picked to be the new chief if his best friend never flew into his life. Like he said in the movie Toothless didn’t give him his bravery and strength he just made it easier and I love him for that. I believe Hiccup is the type of leader we should all aspire to be, but that’s my opinion, I want to start a conversation about Hiccup as a leader and I want to hear what y’all have to say. Just reply to this comment and we can get started.
I think Hiccup is a great leader. He isn’t fierce like the other Vikings but analytical and smart. Yet he is brave and can hold his own in a fight.

I love the fact that despite having a middle name such as "Horrendous", Hiccup's overall personality and demeanor are
far from that definition. He is extremely intelligent, resourceful and a brilliant artist and engineer with an amazing heart and a fascinating life story. I also genuinely like the fact that in spite of being from a village shaped by the horrors of genocide and Dragon brutality, he still chooses to remain sweet, kind and unchanged in his identity in spite of his hardships. He is the personification of the healing of his family's history and one of the greatest examples of gentle, non-toxic masculinity in media.
I would have loved to have become friends with him if he had existed.
