A lip roll takes a lot of practice, it took me months for it not to sound like a mouth fart. But to answer your question on what makes a technique better is how easily its produced or how much mastery you have on it. Fast pace may sound cool but is easy replicatable, it's how the noises sound (good/bad quality) which makes it more impressive. Inward bass is also fairly easy but yiu can produce deeper bass and crazy effects with practice which can make it sound crazier. It's all about difficulty and technicality while still sounding musical to jam out too
there's also so many types of lip rolls and tongue rolls, it's crazy how many variations Napom has but he certainly has them all unlocked and dialed in everytime. Also another interesting fact lip roll is basically just the reverse of a trumpet, with trumpet you blow out and lip roll in inhaling instead
The liproll is all about building the muscles in your face, in the beggining it sounds bad but after a feel weaks of practice, it should sound nice. It took me 3 months of almost everyday practice to get it

If it is combination of tech and musicality then it would score a lot from the judges and also needs to be good flow, structure, transition, power of the sound, and clean with every details
You can check out Improver and Dharni. I think Dharni does a lot though, he's made some music videos on his channel and even did a Valorant song cover with a group of beat boxers which is pretty cool.

Sometimes its dropping a new technique or express old techniques in a new way. You'll find that beatboxing and geography go hand in hand. Every continent has their own thing, maybe a cultural influence or the way language is used with beatboxing has a direct influence on sounds. Americas are know for bass, europe for technique, Asia has a bit of everything but great musicality. Then counties like India have these nasty basslines. You just gotta explore. Its difficult because 12 years has produced a lot of beatboxers and epic battles. Unfortunately Swiss Beatboxing has monopolized and enganged in terrible business practices.
