  • The all-new Volkswagen Atlas 3-Row SUV is finally here. How does it compare against its popular cousin the Audi Q7? How about the Ford Explorer and Nissan Armada? In this video Ryan takes a look at the SEL with 4Motion All-Wheel Drive.

    My wife and I have a 2021 Atlas Cross Sport. VR-6, 8-speed tranny, 4motion, SE/Technology package, Pirelli 225/50 X 20 tires on 20" rims. We absolutely love it !!!

    Apparently everyone "reviews" cars today. VW Atlas is built on MQB platform and Audi Q7 on MLBevo platform. It should be obvious that those are different platforms since Atlas has transverse engine and Q7 longitudinal engine. So Google it.

    I've rented the Atlas and test drove the Audi Q7 about a week ago. The Audi Q7 had terrible 2-3 seconds turbo lag. The VW has quick acceleration from 0mph but it only had adquate passing power the fwy. VW had better soundproof and turning radius than my 2014 TOyota Highlander.

    What? The people’s version of the Audi Q7? Can’t believe this kind of mistakes with all the information we have just in googling things. The only thing that these two vehicles share is that both have 4 wheels and both have 5 doors, other than that, they are two completely different cars. The only platform that Volkswagen shares with Audi is the one in the A3 and the TT.

    I test drove one a week ago. I especially like the handling at corners, it felt like on a sport suspension- tight and smooth. The acceleration is smoother than Highlander and Pilot.

    We test drove both a loaded Atlas and Q7. The Atlas did remind me of the Q7 for the most part and was 25k cheaper. The Audi is a better handling car with air suspension and much better power. The tech is about the same. The VW is a really nice 3 row for the money but if you can manage it, step up to the Q7 Quattro

      lol, I would choose the VW Atlas because the Audi's 3 seconds turbo lag is a deal killer.

      This video made me unsubscribe... Too much wrong info and so little useful comparison. I've driven both cars and not that I'm a professional, but I can't imagine anyone saying the Atlas and Q7 feel the same, not evening mentioning the fact that they ride on completely different chassis. I also wouldn't call 280hp VR6 pulling a car of this size "Powerful". You guys need to step up your game

    I think VW should've designed the Atlas closer to the Q7 in terms of technology and luxury. A top trim Honda Pilot Elite is arguably a notch below the Acura MDX. I think VW would sell more Atlases with a similar strategy.

    • @TJW68
      @TJW68 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd rather have a Q7 the size of the Atlas. The Q7 does not have a usable 3rd row or sufficient storage space behind the 3rd row.

      @MrAngelzer0 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Can’t compare an mdx with q7 in both luxury and prestige. VW is targeting Honda while Acura slots in between that and Audi. Not to say I wouldn’t take an mdx over a Q7.

    The Atlas & Q7 are alike in many ways, but do NOT even go to suggest they are based on the same platform. The Atlas shares more with the Golf than the Q7 which was more similar to the outgoing Touareg, which also explained its premium pricing.

    I test drove the 2018 Atlas a few days ago, coming from a 2003 Toyota 4runner I felt the atlas was much more bumpy. Every pothole or bump in the street could be felt where as my old toyota glides over them smoothly. Also the top of the line Atlas, the seats are very stiff and not very comfortable. I mean at almost 50k I think those 2 things are a deal breaker for me.

    Hi. I own the Atlas R Line SEL. The interior is much bigger than the Q7. Wanted a family vehicle with max space without buying a suburban. VW was my choice after looking at both. Also, Map does fill the entire dash on VW. Reviewer is not familiar with vehicle.

      I find the Atlas to be more refined on the freeway with less road and wind noise. In addition I feel as though the 4motion system is more competent in terms of navigating rougher terrain. The Atlas also has more customization with the ride settings, making it easier to find a sweet spot.
      I also find the highlander's lack of integration for apple car play and android auto just screams Toyota and their reluctance to get with the times. As a final note the Highlander typically carries a higher lease and finance rate, so you'll find that it's going to cost a bit more to drive it off the dealer lot. Unless you're paying cash I find that the Atlas will give you more affordable loan options.
      Nowadays it's pretty hard to choose a bad car but it's easy to choose the wrong car.
      Good luck!

    The Atlas maybe big but the drivers seats in this, and pretty much all others are quite narrow and small! Why on earth make the center console so damn big and keep the most important seat so damn small? I don't get car makers any longer! The seats in the Audi are much better and a bit larger as well.

    Audi Q7 and VW Atlas are the same ... except that the chassis is different, engines are different, drivetrains are different, suspension is different, body and interior are different and few more things. But other than that these two are exactly the same car.

      optap is right. Atlas has an extended Golf chassis. Q7 and Touareg have the same chassis. Q7 does not have a VR6 cause it can't because of the different chassis, same reason why the Atlas does not have the 3.0T or can't. which a also mean suspensions need to be different, which they are. Atlas has nothing to do with Touareg/Q7 and to do with a Golf/Tiguan. BAD video talk about thing he does not know

    • @2wheeledbeemer
      @2wheeledbeemer 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheng-kou Tongkhuya Almost true... 2016 and up Q7 is based on the stretched MLB platform (same as A4, Q5, A8, and a few others from AUDI's stable), while the 2010 to 2017 Touareg is based on the PL52 platform (same as previous generation Q7). The upcoming 2018 Touareg will also be based on the MLB platform, but sadly we won't get it in North America.

    No relationship between the Atlas and the Audi Q7. The Audi Q7 is the same platform as the VW Touareq. The Atlas is on the same platform as the American made VW Passat. Your comparisons were so inappropriate you should delete this video, and reshoot. The Atlas is also less capable than the Q7 or Touareg off road. Its like the Tiguan.

    • @n773ph
      @n773ph 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Correct on all fronts except for the Passat. The NAR variant of the Passat is still on the old PQ46 platform while the Atlas is built on the MQB platform just like the new Tiguan, Golf MK7, new Polo MK6, Arteon, and the EU/ROW variant of the Passat (Passat B8).

    • @Randy-uh8wd
      @Randy-uh8wd 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      VW is moving the North American built Passat to the MQB platform, planned for 2018. I did not clarify this point as it is basically irrelevant to the conversation. This change is only months away. It is part of parts sharing savings in North American manufacturing cost streamlining. Okie Dokie!

    Compairing the Atlas to a Q7 is probably as far away as you can come. They aren't even built in the same country! The Atlas is an American car built with VW parts and is intended for the Chinese, Russian and the American markets.

Most of the data is completely made up and having recently driven both of these I can tell you that the VW is not even close to the same level as the Audi especially the 3.0T with the air suspension.
