  • Here's a few links for my favorite credit cards. I try to check the links often, but let me know if there is a problem. If they change the offer on the card, I may need to update the link. Full disclosure, I get a few airline miles for referring a new customer. You should get the same public offer at no additional cost. Thank you very much.

      Ya man, I don't get much bacon in Bangkok. That's probably a good thing. Still, I had my share

      Its the same as business on most short haul planes. Lie Flat is usually 6 hours or more. I flew across the Pacific many times in 1st and flew Air Asia the last leg. LAX to HK is easy to find. LAX to BKK is way harder. Sometimes I'll catch a 777er to BKK, but only if it's repositioning for a Europe flight. Otherwise BKK to HK doesn't get a huge Biz cabin. It gets probably 60 more coach seats. Makes sense

    What are your thoughts regarding choosing the forward mini business cabin over the main business cabin? More intimate for sure, but might one find it a little “closed in”?

    • @EagerExpat
      @EagerExpat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I can, I always take the small cabin. It's just a personal preference. Seems like a private jet. Of course, I'll take the closed in First Class cabin everyday.

    • @MillennialAngst
      @MillennialAngst ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EagerExpat Others seem to prefer the forward mini cabin as well, one person citing the relative lack of foot traffic. According to SeatGuru however, the exact opposite is true. What's more, Cathay Pacific's seat selection map indicates that all seats in the forward mini cabin are Priority seating, so I also don't want to run the risk of being reassigned, especially since I'll be traveling with family and we want to sit together. These are first-world problems, I know. 😂
      Plus, I also want a glimpse of the First Class cabin. The flight (LAX-HKG) was originally supposed to be on an A350 (which doesn't have a First Class cabin), but even with the switch to the 777 (my favorite), First Class isn't even available. LAX's Bradley gates have dual bridges. Maybe First will have its own dedicated bridge at the gate.

      @MillennialAngst I'm not sure. I've been on a 100 long haul planes Often in business. I've never been reassigned seats. I've had equipment changes, maybe 1 in 50 flights. Probably less. I wanted to fly a Quantas 747 and the "new" 777 replaced that day. Another time an A330 was replaced with 787. But, it's unusual. Im not sure what Seat Guru is talking about. There's foot traffic on every flight. If keeping a family of four together, go with the large cabin. But, if you want the mini cabin (and you can get 4 seats) I doubt you'll be bumped. If it's truly priority it won't give you the option. Unless you have status. For instance, often you can get 1 first class ticket on Cathay. You can't get seat 1a on points. You can get 2a. When you get to the airport you might be the only one in the cabin. Of course they'll give you 1a, but you can't book it ahead of time. Unless you're a top tier status. Small little unwritten rules. However you look at it, go and enjoy the flight.

      @@EagerExpat Appreciate your input! I'm hoping for a good product. I don't know how Business on the newer A350s compare, but the finishes look nicer. It's also a bummer knowing that I might be missing out on the new Aria seats by a few months. Again though, first world problems.

      @MillennialAngst ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EagerExpat It turns out that, yes, there is no First Class cabin on this 777-300, but my seat selection map shows rows 11-26 for Business. Something's gotta give.

      It's pretty nice, but if I had to do it again, I'd fly 1st once and save the points for more business tickets. I flew first every chance I saw a seat. Probably wasted 500,000 points over the years. It's cool, but everyone gets to wherever at the exact same time. Now when the Concorde type jet returns, I hope they take miles. I did a video on Japan First LAX to Tokyo, when I cam over last year. That was a retirement gift to myself

      @@EagerExpat saw that video. im hoping to get on with postal soon. but yea I hear ya. ive flown first on emirates, Etihad, Lufthansa, Korean air, Ana. they have all been fantastic and if I have the miles ill go first. there are always ways to get more miles, but business is pretty good, though the airlines have dumbed it down so much for the "new" credit card travelers....
