him picking up that kid was both for sentimental reasons and for a damn good smart reason too. he seen a bit of himself in the kid, but with the death of the leader and how easily people turned on him and others, he couldn't trust anyone at all, despite having plenty of people he was in charge of. its brilliant to bring on a kid at that age that reminds you of urself, bring him into ur inner circle, show them trust, and give them praise for thier loyalty, he now has his own people that only know him and see him as the main boss and he has their absolute loyalty. he is manipulating the shit out of the situation, he is a narcissist, its what they are good at.
The reason he lets victor live is cuz the kid reminds him of himself. he introduced him to his fucking momma damn near immediately lol. then after the he realizes victor grew up in the same poor area he waa from (bennys lol).... i mean we see that oz has very little concern of life that isnt his own with how quickly he throws victors little freind under the bus with sofia!! So that stutter opened the door for victor to ingratiate himself to oz n the fact that they had so much in common saved jits life! Also Gotham is more of a hodgepodge of the worst of Chicago, Baltimore, and Detroit all rolled into one big hellscape SHITHOLE called "gotham".. metropolis is closer to a new York, albiet maybe a "cleaner" version.
According to the comics on the map, Gotham is south New Jersey and Metropolis is in north Delaware. However having Gotham in north Jersey and Metropolis as NYC would've made a lot more sense. Must be a some legal issue that prevented them from using real city locations.

No way. Nothing will beat that experience of sitting in the theatre and watching The Batman. There was way too many moments that were jaw dropping. Especially that opening monologue of the criminals scared of the shadows. 1 episode of a show is NOT better.
