My family and I were involved in the W.H.R my uncle mike fairburn rebuilt russel over many many many years
The W.H.R struggled for years before finally selling out the name to the festiniong............
Such happy memories of this little line ......
And of ' Karen' the steam engine .....
    Great video thanks ...

Hi Matthew, thanks for watching and commenting, glad you enjoyed the video and it brought back memories. There's a more recent shed built on the end of the original carriage shed (now the museum) that I believe houses the stock and workshop facilities. The WHHR like so many heritage railways I guess just didn't have the financial reserves to push forward restoration of the line against the opposition of farmers, local authorities etc, the latter of course now hailing the economic benefits! My late mother could recall visiting the original WHR on an inspection tour with her grandfather who was district goods manager for the LMS. The WHHR shop and cafe, although both quite small, are always friendly and good value for money.

+MrRnipper This is a great video and well edited. The Garratt looks huge compared to the WHHR resident fleet! Thanks for a sharing and a Great Video

Pleased you like the video. K1 was a last minute substitute to this event when Russell wasn't ready in time. Itself as you say significantly larger than other stock, but in turn merely a baby alongside the NGG16's! I understand that a 16mm live steam model of K1 is under development by GRS.

You are lucky to have such a wide choice of steam railways in the U K. But it can be a little self defeating in getting people to support you. In my country there is only one narrow gauge railway near a major city that runs steam So we are on the other end of the scale. Good luck to you all perhaps this TH-cam clip will help patronage 😎😃

sad little film, no comments, nearly no one on the trains. one would think, making a film for youtube or/and advertising there should be more support from locals,, enthusiasts and volunteers?

austrorus I guess perhaps we are just too spoilt for choice in the UK when it comes to heritage railways to visit and that affects how many people visit any particular line. There are also unfortunately "enthusiasts" who will lineside or find other ways to take pictures without contributing to the running costs of the railway by buying a ticket to travel.

MrRnipper cheapskates indeed! not interested in their heritage or culture. but the first ones to cry if/when something historical is being closed or not working anymore.

We have similar problems here in the states. Most of the lineside people talk about how "someone should do something..." yet never buy tickets, volunteer, or contribute money for restoration.
