  • Steaming Along the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway
A compilation of footage from between 2005 and 2018.
A look at Britain's longest preserved railway network running from Caernarfon to Blaenau Ffestiniog. We start off by taking a journey along the Ffestiniog from Porthmadog Harbour Station to Blaenau Ffestiniog, taking a look at locations along the line. Before taking a journey from Caernarfon to Porthmadog on the Welsh Highland. Then we take a look at the railways home fleet locomotives and visiting locomotives.
    Steaming Along
With my move to a 4K camera in 2018, this seemed like the perfect opportunity for a series of compilation videos with my archived pre 4K material. Steaming Along is a series of six compilation videos looking at the key locations and locomotives on some of Britain's best preserved railways.
    Other episodes of Steaming Along:
Llangollen Railway: • Steaming Along: Llango...
Keighley & Worth Valley Railway: • Steaming Along: Keighl...
Great Central Railway: • Steam Along: Great Cen...
Severn Valley Railway: • Steaming Along: Severn...
    East Lancashire Railway: Next Friday

I love the industrial nature of the Ffestiniog and its part in the North Wales slate industry. I love the Welsh Highland for the beautiful scenery through which it runs.

I just love the beautiful stonework on those elevated tracks. UK rail industry really knows how to make it function and fashion all at once. Class

Steve shoemaker I can remember as a wee kid the last steam locos. It was sooty and smokey going across a railway bridge or in a tunnel. Good to see you enjoy this. You must have steam machinery in the USA as well? Id love to see that but must admit cape canavral visit is a dream of mine

Wales is one of the most sparsely populated parts of europe and rugged and so beautiful. A great place for holidays and glorious in the sun in between rain and clouds

    Nice video
I worked on the old welsh highland railway .......my uncle is mr fairburn
He practically rebuilt 'RUSSEL' ( which was borrowed pinched used by the festinig railway ) !!!
    After all ..
The real welsh line the longest
The most scenic lives I'm glad 4 that
But not 4 what the festinog did as a company to the welsh highland name ......
Both companies now employ loads of people great to see in n.wales
I love the place .........and long to visit often not often enuff
If u watching this in 2020

It's a bit of a myth that Taliesin was built in 1999. The original 1876 frames, whistle and cab were used. The frames are, I would argue, the important part. On one side of the cab is one of the original builders' plates with 'Built 1876' on it. On the other side is a new plate with 'Rebuilt 1999 Boston Lodge Works' on it. The other original plate is in Spooners' Cafe.

Bom dia amigos..muito interessante. Bacana assim é quê se volta às origens do passado. A história das ferrovias começou aí se não me estou enganado. Se tiver me corrige pôr favor. Olha adoro as locomotiva a vapor.
