My son is a champion Snooker player and I have been going to a coaching school where I was the world professional snooker coach. have been working with him since he was only 5 years old when he stood on a beer crate to reach the table. My daughter did her first degree in fine art and design I had an A level and was able to help her. She now has two degree's and a masters in English and has been a teacher. She is now doing a PHD.
I love the way James is actually really interested now in the fishing and clearly enjoy the time he gets to spend with you. Its also great that you are letting him do it all (apart from the odd cast ) but thats only to make sure he gets out to where the fish are and give him a chance of catching. Brilliant.
James’s reaction to hearing you were going to look for fossils is pure gold. You make the video not really thinking about how valuable recording these moments will be to you guys many years in the future. Something most people born before the 90’s don’t have.

As a kid I fished at Redcar, Saltburn and Whitby. There is nowhere in the world as cold as standing still on the harbour breakwater at Whitby for a few hours in February.

Hey John! What are you doing fishing my favourite mark, Newholm Beck that`s where my Dad who came from Sandsend taught us to fish using handlines. Yes handlines! He chuck out far enough to put us amongst the flatties and with a `tanners` worth of broken Herring from the Kipper House didn`t we bag up! I still fish the mark regularly, and very often it`s full of small Dabs and can be an okay place to spin for mackerel in Summer. I noted you finally redeemed yourself towards the end of the video by refraining from calling Billet, Coalies. Must get the terminology right when you`re around the Whitby area! Great video. That takes me back. Fishing Buscot weir in the snow with my boy when he was 7. Frozen to bits. He caught a few Bream and a 10lb Pike. We still fish together today, I'm 74 now. No cold weather we moved to Australia. Great to see a Dad doing the right thing with his lad. A very decent little human in the making there. Good on ya.

The way you interact with, and teach James is awesome. The episodes with you and him together remind me of the best times of my life, out fishing in the Great South Bay, or the Atlantic (Off Long island, NY) with my Dad, who passed away in 2009. Pretty soon I won’t even need to help him with casting. At his age he just doesn’t have the upper body strength needed. But he’s a growing lad. 👍🏻🎣

Hey man. Been watching your channel for about 2 years on and off now. Even got my wife semi hooked on it! Absolutely loved todays episode, and I'm writing to say thank you. The way you interact with, and teach James is awesome. The episodes with you and him together remind me of the best times of my life, out fishing in the Great South Bay, or the Atlantic (Off Long island, NY) with my Dad, who passed away in 2009. Thank you for reminding me of those good, good days. Tight lines sir.
