Hi John I caught.my PB Tope out of there our club only had one trip out from the port and it was the last day that the charter boat was going to be fishing out of there and in all the time that the boat had been fishing from there my tope was the 1st and only tope every caught on the boat

Them baits are mental sizes, but so are the fish. Well done on condensing what must have been a hell of a trip into watchable videos, I loved them all. Looking forward to you and the family's adventures this year John.

Across the entire planet it is only us humans who can remove them all, sure there are cleaner fish and chimpanzees eat them off each others backs' but that only covers those above the surface. Think about scabies with humans, notoriously itchy and burrowing under the skin, good luck trying to pull them out. Or thread worms which I have only had once decades ago as a child, I still remember the intolerable itchiness centre of my arse. Worse still they became active at night, right as your trying to sleep they make it abundantly clear they're fully awake. A single tablet and they're all dead, problem sorted. People romanticise the idea of being some other animal and the freedom it represents, all I can imagine is unending constant itchiness that you are utterly helpless to stop.
Haven't been back to Scotland in about 15 years (I live in Australia now) but that first few seconds of footage on the water in the morning brought a tear to my eye. Spectacular. Great stuff, John.

Great video. You guys overcame a lot of adversity and challenging conditions. I have experience trailering long distances and like you said, it's not easy. That icey , narrow boat launch had me cringing, but you got the boat launched safely, True professionals. If you're ever in the states (Long Island, New York area) you can come out fishing with me anytime.

John - I was glad you included your short bit about the use of the honesty box. I've used them before but was taught just to initial the corner of my payment, cash or receipts, just in case someone else tried to claim my payment action as their own. Didn't seem to be much of a queue on the slipway John. And after some very 'cool' fishing the boat got a good fresh water wash on the way back home, eh? Great trip, great vid, great stuff!
I am an avid fisherman from the GTA, Ontario Canada and sometimes do go out in theseconditions here at the Kawartha Lakes in October to November and mainly going after pickerels/walleyes and muskies. Not good fishing conditions when it is that cold esp when the winds are blowing. I am quite intriqued as you did mentioned previously that your boat was less then 17 ft long and you are quite brave to go out into these open waters esp the seas outside Cornwall as I have been watching your youtube postings now the last 6 months and do admire your fishing skills and courage! Those fishing adventures in BC Canada were great to watch and you are lucky to have a family who enjoy your passion !

That wee floating pontoon is great when the makeral are in, can sit there and fill a bag with some decent size fish, I live in the last town just before you get to here, well done and I'm glad you enjoyed our area

John, it's good to see you made it safely to Scotland! I think you took a big risk. Not once did I see you twang a tie-down strap and say "That's not going anywhere." Keep your head about you lad, and be safe! 😄
I thought you did a good job of taking care of the safety aspect of trailering the boat. You showed several times that you were checking that the wheel bearings were not overheating, checking tightness of the straps etc etc. A trailer breakdown is often caused by a wheel related issue, no wheel bearing maintenance or old cracked trailer tires failing.@@TheFishLocker
Absolutely brilliant. You must have passed nearby as you left the Glasgow area on the way home. It was good to see the Rest and Be Thankful was open for you as if that had been closed you would have had a long diversion to get to Lochgilphead. Loved the Skates.
What an trip some brilliant fishing there, a good way to keep warm those skate seam like thay was coming for a clean up off the sea leaches. That was some big baits quite amazing to see

So were we, it was disappointing to learn there were no other species in the area. I am assuming this many big predatory skate have just eaten everything else.

Enjoyed this format, but I enjoy all your videos, anyway. I think when you're putting that kind of milage in, its good to show the effort it takes to get to these marks from where you are. Especially when there is adverse weather. I'm just glad you had it calm enough out on the water - you know yourself - forecasts can be wrong.
@@TheFishLocker nope. Not yet… I need to sort out slow trolling on live bait. catching here live bait on session itself is a bit of a challenge by itself. So the AJ became even more of a target now.
I few of us went to Inverary way back in the late 70s and had a charter boat for a few days. Although the trip was great and we seen basking sharks etc. The skipper wasn't very helpful so we didn't catch much. Not been back since as we didn't have our own boats. Some stunning rays you had there and I take it, that made the trip worthwhile,

It’s the same as when checking a door handle in fire training. Always use the back of your hand incase it’s hot.
They have to be relieved to have those suckers removed. Thanks for the adventure!

They are the same with smaller skates in Cornwall. The smaller males are more active and aggressive feeders.

I'm from Guernsey, 4 miles by 9 ish and everything is a 20 min drive away, the thought of a 12+hr drive across country to go fishing is crazy.

Enjoyed this format, but I enjoy all your videos, anyway. I think when you're putting that kind of milage in, its good to show the effort it takes to get to these marks from where you are. Especially when there is adverse weather. I'm just glad you had it calm enough out on the water - you know yourself - forecasts can be wrong.
We had this trip planned for several weeks waiting for that weather break up there coinciding with good tides for the slipway. 😉🎣👍🏻

@@TheFishLocker nope. Not yet… I need to sort out slow trolling on live bait. catching here live bait on session itself is a bit of a challenge by itself. So the AJ became even more of a target now.
I few of us went to Inverary way back in the late 70s and had a charter boat for a few days. Although the trip was great and we seen basking sharks etc. The skipper wasn't very helpful so we didn't catch much. Not been back since as we didn't have our own boats. Some stunning rays you had there and I take it, that made the trip worthwhile,
