Nlg, when the last boss has like 5 phases and you start to hear all your character's themes playing in one go you can quite literally hear your hard work paying off as the boss is on it's last foot.
I loved the idea that these special attacks gave you buffs, but only so long as the music played. You just had to listen to see how long you had till you ran out... Or you could play another special attack, and watch the buffs carry on FOREVER!
I would just spam the katana special move as it just needs you to default. I would have Tiz activate it, have Edea default then activate hers while Tiz charged his. All the while, Ringabel and Anges were buffing and healing the party
Definitely felt like Tiz's had the most Punch- it musically represented the change in pace that his role had in my party really well. Tiz was my group's healer, so when he dropped his res and heal after being the only survivor, it fit perfectly.
Tiz is my Knight. When everyone is down, he does his special then V E N G E A N C E. that and then he just revives everyone since the bosses deal like normal damage to him due to how goddamn tanky he is.
@@barrybend7189 Healer role definitely goes to Agnes, Edea is my damage spellcaster whilst Ringabel is like, a wildcard. I set him as a thief once and then swapped to Ranger.
I used to feel that way, and definitely still feel like it fits the intended use as a combat theme, but as of late, disconnected from their actual use, I've been really liking Anges and Ringabels' themes. They both feel like dance music to me, but completely differing styles. I can visualise the measured and almost ethereal motions of wind's course, only to have Love's Vagrant cut in, rejecting it to instead embody vigor and passion.
And all of these theme songs make their appearances again in the Final Boss theme Serpent Devouring the Horizon, making that them even more unique and memorable.

I love the more non-chibi realistic character art on the video. Though I have mixed feelings about the game itself, I LOVED these characters, and it's nice to see them in a more realistic proportion than they are presented in game.
The Bravely series was meant to invoke the style of classic Final Fantasy. As the team who developed it did the DS remakes of FF 3 and 4, FF 4 heroes of light.
@@barrybend7189 Don't get me wrong, I like the style in the game too, it's just a nice different take. It kind of reminds me of FFVII, where I had wished the out of combat models looked like the in combat models. For what it's worth, I found a used copy of FFIII and am playing it right now. The style works even better there because as you said, it's a classic game itself.
They did the art style this way so that, when bravely default remake comes out, with the better technology, we will get more realistic art styles. Thats definitely what happened. definitely
The second made some *great* Quality of Life changes, and most of the new classes were interesting (Wizard especially stuck out for how much its abilities help magic casters). I think I prefer the original? But the second was definitely worth playing too, for me. So I hope you get to play it soon :D
My favorite part of the Specials, besides the banging music ofc, is how easily they're stackable, and how they're kinda meant to be abused in the second half of the game Spoilers ahead Because you can customize element and family weakness, it's incentives you to memorize which boss is weak to what element and what their family is so you can abuse the Special to deal massive damage. And since you (should) have Examined all the bosses up to the repeat point, you already know everything you'd need to to customize your Specials and exploit them.
I just set Tizs class to freelance again. Its so useful to just see the HP so you know when you can go all out. But the bosses so far i think have mostly been neutral to everything. Only at chapter 2 atm though.
@@D3sdinova Most all the Asterisk holders have no weaknesses but all the Crystal bosses do, so it helps to remember their weaknesses because you need to fight them so many times. And thankfully, having no weaknesses just means you don't have to augment your Specials before their fight. Just saves time.
@@ScootsLounge i hope a lot of people will download the demo before it goes offline. If you ever want to replay it youll always have access to plenty of villagers that way. Itd take weeks or months to unlock the special stuff otherwise. And yeah i was huntinging those side quests yesterday. You can just spam whatever you want for those.
@@ScootsLounge do you know the odds of status ailments btw? My party only managed to resist once. But ive never been able to inflict anything on enemies. I do only try them on bosses though, but even like 3x brave poison always fails. Are they immune?
@@D3sdinova this game unfortunately uses Final Fantasy logic so most bosses are immune to most all status effects. Maybe a few aren't immune to some, but that's something you'd have to look up yourself because idk.
Tiz is some really clever music, this is Agnes from me to it being superior. But I guess, that was the Edea behind it..well, music telling a Story, does this Ringabel?
I love all of these as individual songs, but I always hated using Special Moves because they distract so much from the atmosphere. I like the songs from Second much more as Special themes because they mesh so well with the boss music and have the same kind of intensity, even if they don’t stand out as well as “character themes”. All of the party members in BS have character themes separate from their special themes, and I feel like that’s a much better approach.
My problem with Bravely Second’s though is they sound too similar because of the overreliance on electric guitars, I think the themes in BD really fit each character and are very distinct
Really wanted to like this game more than I did. I was totally entranced by the first half of it--the battle system is excellent, and the writing is great until then. And I freaking love EVERY ONE of these special themes. I just beat it for the first time two days ago. But the tedium of repeating the same quest five times, fighting the same bosses, and the abysmal PLUNGE in the quality of writing in the back half made the final hours of the game a boring, frustrating slog. Not even the insanely cool final battle made up for it.
Bravely default is the first of the serie for the 3ds, bravely second is ... well ... the second one and bravely default 2 is the third but is on switch.

Not great for deaf people or people playing on the sofa with their families. They should have had some kind of visual indicator as well.
Caridor But there is... there’s a blue glow around the character that just used a special move.

Ikr, I feel like the chibi artstyle kinda makes the bravely series, not bad but, not as good as it should be in terms of visuals.

Ringabel's theme sounds so familiar yet so unique
First we had celtic/folk music, a waltz, a tango, and pop music. Now we have a bolero, jazz and I dunno what are the other two 😅
