    Watch the BBC first on iPlayer 👉 bbc.in/iPlayer... 9-year-old Fionn performs contemporary choreography to Take That’s Rule The World.
    It’s week 2 of the dance talent show where dancers of any age and dance style compete to win £50,000 and a chance to perform on Strictly Come Dancing.
    Leading the charge to discover the greatest dancer are three superstar dance captains - platinum-selling singer Cheryl, Broadway and Glee star Matthew Morrison and Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse.
    The series is hosted by singer and presenter Alesha Dixon and Jordan Banjo, member of multi-award-winning dance troupe Diversity.
    The audience hold the power - if they are impressed by the audition, they can vote to open the mirror, and if 75 per cent of the audience vote yes then the mirror will open and the dancer will make it through to the next stage of the competition, the callbacks. Get ready to see talent from across the world of dance, from ballet to jazz, street to ballroom, contemporary to disco as the dancers give the performances of their lives in the hope of opening the mirror.

    I can see some people in the comments critiquing his dancing, and then lots of people telling them to “give him a break” or “he’s only 9”
    Frankly, as a dancer, critiquing is a really good thing at any age, because it will allow you to push yourself to be the best you can be, rather than taking the patronising “you’re doing great sweetie” and settling for ok

    • @Atinychoice
      @Atinychoice 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree I posted a comment saying he was great and pointed out both good and bad critiques and have got nothing but hate, people need to learn every dancer knows getting critiques is good as people want them to do better and to constantly improve. Xx

      I'm sure he gets plenty of constructive critiques from his actual dance teachers. No one asked folks in the comments to give performers instructions. It has nothing to do with helping him it's just random strangers in the comment taking the opportunity to be critical of someone doing something they can't.

    • @Atinychoice
      @Atinychoice 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Platypus Rising no we’re honest and say what we see. He’s not gonna read these comments bu5 maybe someone who can’t afford dance might and don’t you think it’s nice to help our fellow dancers out. I’m not gonna comment saying how great he was cos what’s the point, we can clearly see that! I would rather not lie and comment something useful

    UK should really copy Korea and Japan's format for talent shows. In Korea, they never cut the talent's moment, director will ALWAYS show the contestant on screen. Then they will put a mini video around the corner to show the reaction of the Judges and audiences. Just take a look at this video right here. I'd say 40% of the actual time is the viewers seeing cringey scripted reactions of Judges.

    I loved the performance..... and am really not sure where people are getting ANYTHING as to Fionn's sexual orientation from this DANCE video.. or, if his father is 'nowhere to be found'... (perhaps the very jubilant man reaching for him near the end of the video, when he ran to his family is the father... hmmn.. a thought) but really people... who the hell cares in the context of this video.. this show..? his dance (and yes, it *is* dance, and not gymnastics) was lovely.. joyful and heartfelt and *that* is what matters.. not whether or not in a few years he will introduce his boyfriend to mum... good grief people.. why so much negativity when it is so much easier and productive to be pleasant and uplifting? There was NO mention of his gender identification, nothing to base an opinion of whether his mother finally got the daughter she had always wanted (ummn.. Fionn has two very visible sisters, so wtf is with that comment? did you watch the video.. or just skim comments and respond without thought?) or whether or not there is a father present..
    He is performing, doing what he loves.. and what he has insofar as physiological body.. does.. not... matter.... if he presents as a boy, his mother talks about her son.. they accept him as a boy, then why extrapolate all this crap when it isn't required? I often wonder if people use these comment sections to simply try to validate their own lives or something equally as silly.. instead of what i presume is the purpose for them.. and comment on the actual video..... *sigh people are sooooo strange....
    And to those who will likely bash at me for being a 'hearts and rainbows bunnies and sunshine bleeding heart sap' I am far from that.. just don't see the point in being ignorant when there is no need
    *as an aside, the term BOTTOM in the making.. (and yes, highly inappropriate here) is not meant as a perverse note.. but to coin a term from BDSM meaning submissive... not a pedophile comment.... either way.. not required or appropriate for this scenario

    This young talented dancer, entered Ireland Got Talent (Louis Walsh was one of the Judges) and the young man mentioned being bullied because he loved to dance. In that show he danced to the song Never Enough from The Greatest Showman. It brought a few tears to my eyes. So did this dance.
    It is a shame that he is picked on by his peers, but you can tell he has a determination that will allow him to achieve his goal. He is the Billy Elliot of Ireland!!!

    He is 9 and living in a smallish town in Ireland so only has access to whatever dance school is in the locality.His Mother, two sisters and Father are in the audience, it's just the Mother chose to speak to camera. He is polite, articulate and has a raw talent.. why are people wanting to label him? He is a child.

    This is what I am talking about. Contemporary ballet always makes it. That classical ballet dude who didn't make it, needs to do contemporary.

    • @JK-zu1np
      @JK-zu1np 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anyadeising1564 Its not dumb, classical ballet is boring to watch so it would be never be appreciated in any talent shows where ordinary audiences are voting. It's usually more for pretentious posh crowd. Which probably won't vote in such programs.
      I mean you got a technical perfect classical ballet dude who didn't get through. And i bet if more classical ballet contestant participated, zero will get through.

    • @lyndseycarlin833
      @lyndseycarlin833 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Oh my gosh JK, you are clearly deluded if you seriously believe that classical ballet is boring to watch. I mean WHAT! And to say that only a certain type of audience will appreciate it, is very stereotypical of you. It’s a dance competition. Also it’s the 2% delirious folk like you is the reason he never made it through to begin with :-). His routine was outstanding.

    • @JK-zu1np
      @JK-zu1np 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lyndseycarlin833 In another words, i am right. Classical ballet will never win talent competitions that requires audience's votes because it is too boring to watch. Just reality.

    • @anyadeising1564
      @anyadeising1564 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      JK Honestly contemporary and lyrical routines get so overdone that they are nothing that special anymore. Ballet is a classic and timeless art form that may be too mature for some people to really appreciate. The physical miracles that professionals are is unbelievable and so much more interesting to watch just knowing how technical and strong they are.
