I feel that this game really should have gotten an anime adaptation. The Little Prince is a classic story and this would have been a nice way to take the story in a new direction.
+Mazryonh Seeing the direction they took the PSP port, I can see an anime version of this working out fine. It'd have to use the grand finale route, but that route sort of expects you to know all the characters. While I also agree that this could be considered an interesting interpretation of The Little Prince, RURUR has different messages and themes attached. It's more like a derivative work rather than an actual interpretation. I would get a kick out of animated shorts showing the RURUR cast trying to act out scenes from Le Petit Prince and messing up, though.
+Yuumei Moroboshi Maybe those animated shorts come at the end of each episode where they act out nursery rhymes in a funny way, like "This Little Piggy went to market"? The teacher Chapekku, Kobatomugi, could do the narration on those bits. I don't think the story would hold up well in an omnibus format like Amagami's animated adaptation did, so they'd probably mish-mash Hinagiku's and Shirotsumegusa's routes for part of the show and then tie it all in with Benibana's story. Sadly Mizubashou would be largely cut out of this hypothetical show, which I think would be a shame because to me she's a spiritual descendant of Urutori from Utawarerumono who didn't have her own route either in the original game or the anime adaptation.
+Mazryonh Heh, you mean like the old school "Welcome to Lodoss Island" shorts for the Lodoss TV series? That idea does have potential. Meshing three routes together might work, though you'd need to have major changes. If you're going for that, you might as well take the 1999 To Heart anime approach (basically re-conceptualize the whole thing). Of course, I never did get a feel of how people reacted to that version of To Heart, so I can't say whether it's generally seen as good or bad. I liked it, but some people may have complained about it.
