Will always enjoy his albums. Fame messes with people, and it is clear it messed with him, big time. I would have preferred that you had covered the WTF with the work he’s had done on his face. He was a handsome man. He looks like he should be telling me to mail him money for Jesus. He looks like a Wayne Newton prototype. My first wife was sick for years before she died, and Cook’s humor was one of the things that kept her going. I am forever a fan for that.
I have never ever had a reason to despise Dane Cook until after watching this video now knowing he is the reason this world is cursed with Jimmy Fallon… thanks a lot Dane.
I think what made Dane Cook's standup work for me were not the jokes per say, but the wild stories he'd create. He had so much energy and brought these scenarios to life, and the snippets of humor would be like sprinkles on top.
Dane Cook made me laugh back in the day. I'll always be thankful to the guy for that. I personally will always find him to be funny. Whether the rest of the world thinks so or not is irrelevant to me.
The truth is you typically click on who or what you think you can relate to. Dane was my entry as a black guy into white stand up. Because of him I’ve found countless comics I love from old school to current. I hope he gets back on track. Comedy brings people together
Yeah white comedy is really different. Black comedy just talks about the difference between black and white people, and usually putting white people down. So I imagine seeing things from the other perspective is interesting. Some white people comedy can be corny as hell though so sometimes black comedy can be better.
@@BlackMetalGraffiti I never thought of comedy as coloured but I guess some comedians have an audience they gear towards. I think all types can have lame aspects though.

The guy has been through a lot. I knew his manager back when he was at his peak, he made the absolute worst choices for him to serve his own ego. I saw Dane perform maybe 100 times. He spiraled into a very dark place. I blame most on his manager Brian who should have been protecting him
Dane Cook to me is still amazing. He's hit some speed bumps but still I feel I'm a big fan. Employee of the month and Waiting are 2 of my favorites. Thanks for all you do Dane.
I've said for a long time, "There's two kinds of comics: those with something to sell, and those who know how to sell it"--both can learn from each other, but Cook was definitely in the later category, and not so much the first. Lack of either will hurt your staying power.
I saw him at the University of Delaware in the middle of is peak after Retaliation. Every joke was new and he killed it. Afterwards, he went to the back of the room and drank with all the fans at the bar. Such a great dude
Just then you thought the world couldn't get any weirder, you learn that Dane Cook could've (indirectly) been hosting the Tonight Show instead of Fallon. If that isn't a trippy thought I don't know what is.
It’s such a shame we got Fallon. Dane has much more talent. The stage fright is a sign that he puts his all into it emotionally. Hope he gets another break
I feel terrible...but...so glad to hear I'm not the only one who thinks Dane Cook sucks. Never could understand how people could laugh at him or Kevin Hart.
Dane Cook was also in a Movie called 400 days in 2015 that was about a nasa crew in training who gets stuck on the moon and its a really good movie. i absolutely loved it.

In fact there are comedians I'd watch for hours doing their podcast, but I wouldn't waste a minute on their acts. For Dane, yeah, he doesn't have a traditional joke structure. But the schtick that he does do, the stuff in his wheelhouse, he does it well imho.

He did much better in that movie than I thought he would. I even find some of his cameos to be funny. Sad to hear about his family problems.
He was never funny to begin with. At least not his movies. In employee of the month they should have just kept the camera on Jessica Simpson the whole time. She’s not a very good actor either but at least she was hot. Cook doesn’t even have that going for him.
It's really weird I remember being at target YEARS ago and seeing the Dane cook Terminator looking special box set, and Vanessa hudgens album at the time right next to each other, that was back before the Internet got crazy too. I thought she was so hot

Overall he really is not that funny to begin with, hence the "choke" before his SNL interview with Lorne, his short career and current absence anywhere. Still, he has some highlights he should be proud of...everybody has a comeback (especially in Hollywood).
I really liked his frenetic energy on stage. The guy was a machine. What a perfect storm of BS he has had to endure. He needed better management form the start.
Back in my mid 20's, we had a dvd of a stand up special he did in the break room at the bank I used to work at, where he was on that circular stage. I iust remember him talking about that B and E and how he'd replace batteries on the control with weaker batteries. I thought it was funny.
