As a french living in Switerland I am so thankful to have the chance to live in this country. It is clearly not perfect nevertheless i consider that it is a miracle. Swiss people please keep your country, your traditions and your rules.
Bonjour Sofiane !! Excuse moi, en tant que jeune français hésitant à aller vivre en Suisse, serais-tu disponible pour répondre à certaines de mes interrogations ? Par exemple sur les démarches (Job, papiers, assurance...)
As a diabetic with a father that had a heart attack and is diabetic as well and had knee and hips replaced, we paid the monthly payment for insurance with pleasure. Never paid for insuline, got all the newest insulin pumps and glucoste monitoring, my dad went to noirmont for heart rehab and hip and knee replacement were in a great hospital + rehab. Never paid a dime of those costs.
I pay gladly when I know there's people like you're dad that would be ruined if they would have to pay for everything. Like in America, it's just so crazy how people would rather kill themselves rather than call the ambulance! TwT You never know when you might need it.
@@NunoxFerreira I just saw so many examples from America. One time a woman fought with people, to please not call an ambulance, because she was so scared of the bill. I read that health care is paid by taxes in Portugal. At the end it's kind of similar in Switzerland because if you don't have enough money (based on your taxes) for insurance the government will lower you insurance costs. Switzerland is just making us go through so much paper work xD It would make more sense to me if we just straight up paid it through taxes where it's already calculated like in Portugal. For me it's fine. I guess Switzerland isn't part of the EU, there's different structures, so maybe it makes more sense.
In taxes you pay depending on your salary. In Switzerland you pay for what you hire. First of all, you know what you pay. Don't fall into the trap. Switzerland is WAY BETTER than the rest of Europe for a reason @@FudiBaeggli
About the health insurance, yes it is expensive. However, after the deductible, you don't have to think about the price any more. In an emergency that's noticeable. Three months on an ICU can cost CHF 250'000 easily (personal experience). The bill for you, just your deductible. You don't have to sell your house to continue care.
Depends on different factors, like age, place you live and your deductible whichbis minimum 300 to max 2500 bucks. Roughly between 200 and 500 bucks a month. The higher the deductible the lower the monthly rate and vice versa
@@tangente00 It depends on how much you set to be paid by yourself. Its not that expensive if you have any normal job to afford honestly speaking. However i cant compare how cheap it is in other countrys
As a Swiss I get your points. However, as somebody who just had a major operation three months ago, I appreciate our expensive health system much more now. I also appreciate the noise curbs. In Asia your neighbor can basically turn up his stereo at any day or night time and you can’t do anything about it. It is very unfortunate that this new generation of kids seems to smoke much more again. Smoking seems to come in waves.

Punkt Schluss!!!!
Hi just to make you understand the rules. If you wanna make a party (with loud Music) inform your neighbors that it will be loud even after 22:00 (inform the government) than there is no problem. The deductible for each of my family members is at 400 CHF. If you have children and a family you may have the right to get the insurance to 70% off, it depends on income and how big the family is. Sometimes even companies that you work for are giving you an discount because they have an contract with them. If you wanna know something in Switzerland you have a debt to obtain information from the government. They self will never inform you. And you are right the teens are smoking more (viping). Sorry for my horrible English
Switzerland 🇨🇭 is a best country to live, healthcare is world class, work and life balance. Salary is best ever, that’s why some Hollywood celebrities wants to stay here because they can just walk in the street and nobody bother’s them. Hier wird die Ruhezeit respektiert.
I have fully private health insurance. It has been amazing. I was diagnosed with cancer 18 months ago. Being in Switzerland with the health insurance saved my life
that's right. recently i was at the emergency ward in a hospital in rome. i had been waiting for 5 hours and my injury was bagatelized. when i came back to switzerland, it turned out that i had blood poisoning. i wouldn't have to wait 30 minutes for the medical examination...
No, it doesn't. For normal people, elderly and chronically sick it's a real pain and hassle with the insurance. This system is robbing the people. It really does.
@@catniptrip884 Not that I wish an even higher solidarity (less payments for the poor, higher for the wealthy) or other improvements like covering dental issues. But I must say, comparing to other European countries like Germany, the level of quality and progress of health care is extremely high, even for standard without extra insurances. It simply works.
If you’re going to explain medical insurance, it’s better to explain all the options. Don’t just give one example. About the noise, if you plan to have a party, inform your neighbors then it’s fine. Common curtesy. Yes, unfortunately young people smoke a lot. Like anywhere else in the world. I hope you do like something in Switzerland though😅
Really, I have no clue what is she talking about regarding the health insurance. I never paid anything upfront- just the 10% bill that I get after every Dr visit. So, it depends on your insurance and what you chose.
You are right about the high cost of health insurance, but you get top treatment at any time, with top medical equipment and devices. About the noise, I personally appreciate being able to enjoy my sleep, my house, my family, without having to accept a rave party next door....
I have been living in Switzerland for almost six years now and I find the healthcare system great. It gives you the opportunity to choose your deductible and the lower your chosen deductible is the more expensive your monthly payment will be. So, if you are not often sick, you can choose a higher deductible and save on the monthly costs, but in case you get sick you have to pay more of the initial costs. It is like a gamble with your own health. But, to put it into perspective, Switzerland is still very expensive compared to other countries. For example: Deductible: CHF2'500 -> monthly payment: CHF300 Deductible: CHF300 -> monthly payment: CHF400 That sounds about right, but costs vary depending on your insurance company.
300 montly payment for 2'500 ? Never ! Currently you will pah at least 450 or more very easily. Even if the Healthcare system is average good, clearly not the best or very good, it's still a true robbery that is currently getting more and more expensive
@@The_Good_Corner ah for 2500 franchise then thats ok. But poeple in europe forget that YOU need to pay first 2500 fr yourself :) i pay 650 in a month my franchise is 300
@@Anlin00whats your salary vs what you would get from your country of origin, and how much money you can put aside every month in addition, without considering the fact you probably work 3x less to buy the latest iphone?
You appreciate health insurance here much more when you are in real trouble like serious surgery or cancer. 2500 is a max you pay for year, rest is covered by insurance and you'll never get 100k+ bill here unlike USA for example. When you go to hospital you know that Krankenkasse will cover your medical bills and you don't think about that at all. And 2500 is like half of one average salary here
1. Health insurance is obligatory in all European countries. In Switzerland it is managed by private health insurance companies of choice (yeah, you can choose them as well the "package"). Price ? Fair. Believe me in other countries you pay (it is included in tax) for health care and cant use it (6 months waiting time to get to oncologist if you are lucky than medication is non covered. 2. There is a quiet time as well in each country. Swiss are still quite flexible in comparison with Germans. 3. Dude, swiss teenager are basically saints lol.
Well for be honest (I am a teenager and live in Switzerland) teenagers here not really saint, but it isn't something strange, there's this kind of people in all other countries. But I think that there's much less of teens like this here, that' in the other countries
@@alexanderzhuravlov3485 I completely agree with you. I wanted to say that teenagers are not saints in general but this is the beauty of this age and that part of life. I would love to be a teenager again and live in Switzerland at that age (unfortunately im quite older 😜 but cant complain)
Insurance in Switzerland is worse than the mafia. They take months to pay your medical bills and only reimburse half up to a certain amount. If you are a few days late on your monthly payment, they will send you a reminder with additional fees to pay. And if you can't pay, they will sue you and you could end up in jail.
Otherwise pay more per month and reduce the initial participation to 300 swiss franks. The quiet hours at 22:00 is something standard in whole europe same as young people smoking.
You forgot to mention, that if you get pregnant and give birth, all costs are 100% covered. It doesn’t matter, if you need to stay in hospital for weeks before birth. All covered. You don’t pay a dime. Also you might get seriously sick one day and then you only have to pay that deductible and the whole rest is paid. Sometimes that’s CHF 100‘000 or more, especially if you happen to have a chronical condition. I think it’s the greatest system in the world.
I once met a woman who'd amassed a million in "debt" in Switzerland because she'd needed a special medical setting for mental health reasons. She knew she'd never have to pay back that "debt" unless she somehow became a millionaire.
Well the 2500 you only pay if you got something and it's not monthly its for a a year. It's called a Jahresfranchise. Also you can choose if you want the deduction that high. You can have it down to like 100francs but then the monthly insurance payments will be higher. I'm quite healthy so my deduction is at 2000 but monthly payment is only about 300francs like that.
Yes but what she forgot to mention is that the higher your deductible is, the lower your monthly premium will be. With 2500 deductible, your monthly premium is like 200 bucks. This is generally what healthy youngsters do, who almost never go to the doctor. The inverse is the same, the higher your deductible, the higher your monthly premium. So someone with a deductible of 500 has to pay like 500 per month.
I'm a diabetic and I never have to worry to get my insulin. I'm only paying at max 1k a year on tops of the premiums. after that 1k, I do not pay anymore, even I have to go to the hospital. It ist expensive, but you don't get financially ruined like people in the US if you need medical assistance.
In 2017 I was in a Hodgkins lymphom. 12 treatments chimiotherapy. 6 months. 5 years of controls scans etc. Total cost Over 100000 $. 2021 covid I was 2 month in hospital 32 days under intensive care total cost over 80000 $.
There are FAR better countries in Europe. For example Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Norway, Latvia, all culturally much more relaxed than the Swiss are. You could give me a million, I would not ever want to live in Switzerland again.
Having lived in Switzerland for about 30 years, I can say that, yes, it is very expensive to live here and there are rules to maintain the civility. However, that is the price you pay for the quality of life we have... which is second to none. If someone is not happy with it, I suggest they pack their bags and go home. AU REVOIR
Most people here don’t realise that her reference for comparison is Singapore, so that’s a tough one to beat since both countries are so similar in many respects.
I'm Swiss, born in Switzerland, grew up in Switzerland, still live in Switzerland. I'm as Swiss as we come. And I absolutely agree with you: our health care system is utterly absurd! That said, don't touch the no-noise-after-10pm-rule. People's sleep must be respected.😌
We have the best health insurance and healthcare, and it’s actually not that expensive compared to other European countries and the U.S. About the noise, in Switzerland we just respect our neighbors, I’m not sure you’ve heard of it.
I worked as a nurse in the US, and i can assure you that the American health care bills are much worse than the Swiss premiums. It is designed this way to avoid situations like in Canada, where health care is perpetually overwhelmed.
I am so lucky to live here. Came here 30 years ago and what I miss is my country and familly... Perfect is nowhere but if someone tries, can find a hair eve on egg. I pay abour 850 Fr for me and wife and franchise about 500 Fr during a year. So I think the Informaton she gave is really missleading. Anyway, it would be better to mention a good things you find in Switzerland that makes Switzerland as a one of the best countries in the world.
Im an 🇺🇲 in Switzerland. My shock pov: 1.😬 everything is expensive and 2. the short summers/weeks of cloudy days. Otherwise, it's a great country. Wonderful place to raise children.
When i remember correctly, 7 years ago i had an deductable of 2500 € and paid 250 Franks an month, i dont think its that expensive. Now in Germany i might Not have an deductable but i pay about 360 and my employee pays 340... Talk about expensive
You define a high deductible health insurance plan as a $2500 deductible? In the USA our high deductible plans go up to $6250 for an individual and double that for a family plan!
@@saulcohen6038 By law, a high deductible health plan in 2023 had a deductible of at least $1600, up to $7500 for a single person, and double those for family coverage. It only pays for preventive care (1 yearly check up) and routine screenings until the deductible is met. After that, the plan pays 70-90% of the medical costs with a maximum out of pocket. If you hit the max, insurance pays everything for the rest of the year. However, insurance companies are not required to offer a HDHP with the lowest possible deductible. Many won’t offer a plan with less than $6000. Many 'regular' plans have a $1200-$1500 deductible. They cost significantly more in premiums but have lower yearly maximums. If we know a big medical issue is coming up, we can switch to a better plan for the year. However, if you pick a cheap plan, one visit to emergency can put you into bankruptcy even with insurance.
Sadly, the people with the lowest income are most likely to choose high deductible plans because they are cheaper. If they get sick, they can’t pay the deductible and go into medical debt or bankruptcy.
If you pay around 400/month and then ADD the 2500 deductible (plus 10% until you get 700) that is still over 8K per person per Year IF you get really sick. I would consider that pretty high. People basically only choose a high deductable if they are never sick. (you can save money this way due to low monthly rates). As soon as you have just SOME medical Issues or take regular medication, a low deductible is better. With a low decductible of 300 (plus 10% till 700) I pay around 540 p/m. So that is overall cheaper per year.
I really wonder how that fked up healthcare system in US works. I wonder how many millions of people got broke after a disease just because of that horrible healthcare system and no insurance. I live in Switzerland and I know that the insurance is expensive but what are you gonna do when you live in US and have no insurance and you get diagnosed with cancer'? I mean you would suddenly have maybe 200'000 $ debts, what a nightmare. The fact that you dont need insurance is actually crazy considering how extremely expensive it is. USA must have the most terrible healthcare system ever, UK probably as well. Do you have that insurance with 6250 $ deductible?
Try living with balkan (bosnian) people in a bulding and you will see what quiet hours and sundays look like :) very quiet, esspecially when they own their apartments. Just leave the building. By the way inssurance here is perfect! I guess we all love paying our insurance. I've seen the power of it. Works beautifull
The healthcare system is great. You pay your deductible and that’s it, in case of a possible major intervention this is very reassuring. Also yes we like our quiet and are very serious about respecting it. Feel free to leave if anything else is bothering you.
So great it gets more expensive every year, faster than medical cost increase. We have 100 of insurance who do more or less the same thing: sucking the blood out of you. This system doesn't work.
Those 2500 also calles „Franchise“ is a thing you can choose if you choose the 2500 option then you premium will be less expensive as a monthly payment however you can also choose the 300 „Franchise“ this inturn will make you have to pay more monthly but less when you actually need to go to the hospital or wherever!
For the noise, it depends on a few factors really. On average, swiss-germans are less patient than swiss-french people (no idea about swiss-italians though), and same with small villages compared to bigger cities. If there are car sounds all night long, you don't care as much about noisy neighbours. Also, if you get along with your neighbours and/or if you warn them before hosting a party, it usually goes smoothly.
The deductible is for one year and not per treatment. No more than years old is grown up. You can drink, drive a car and vote...so as an adult you can choose as you whish. Late night parties usually work out if you inform your neighbours and invite them as well. Having loud weekly parties in an appartment is just not what sleeping neighnours dig.
Always told: you go living in a new country then you change and adapt 100% on the rules and mentality of that country. Il you do not like or cannot, you can leave to another place. But never the opposite (the country/population has to change to make strangers feeling better)
At the age of around 30 years old, you pay 180.-chf per month for health insurance (Franchise 2500). 180 per month I would not consider expensive. Quiet hours: yes. They say what they mean. That leads to "reliability". A rare character trait that still exists a lot in Switzerland. It comes into existence when you do what you said and mean what you said. So yes, quiet hours are there and they meant it. If you have a party just tell your neighbour's ahead of time about it, and they will be tolerant. Or invite them to the party. 😊
Problem is, if its cheaper, everyone runs to the doctor because of a caugh, witch pushes the prices for all of us. I havent been to the doctor since 5 years, so i actually pay for nothing right now. But as soon as there is a major problem, youll be more than happy about the insurance.
when i arrived here in 1986 from the noisy philippines, i never had problem about the 10pm silence policy, i respect that because people work here everyday and wait until friday nite for karoke nite at the bar...
For the health insurance people paying 2.500 is when you earn a lot. Most people have 300/500chf quote because is more accessible and easier to pay monthly. Also a 65% of the people is helped to pay health insurance by their own local government…
ofc if u choose the 2500.- Franchise, u have to pay to that point, but at the same time u pay only around 200-250.- Monthly, if u choose a lower Franchise, like 300.- u have to pay more monthly, its up to you, if you a overcarer who goes for every hick in the finger to the hospital, u pay more.
But, lady, you forgot to mention what the salaries are in Switzerland! The quiet times are important for resting. It is Mo to Sat from 22:00 to 07:09. Sunday and public holidays, all day. I Smoking is like everywhere else, unfortunately.
As a Canadian living in Switzerland for over 20 years I can say that yes the premiums seem high with the deductible, but the taxes are much lower than in Canada and the salaries are higher. Plus the services are better in Switzerland. In Canada my father was on a wsit list for years to get heart surgery. Went to the hospital 5 times and each time he was bumped for a more urgent case. In Switzerland my husand needed heart surgery and got the best care with no wait. Also there is accident insurance which is paid for by your employer ao if you break a leg skiing or hiking or walking on an icy road, everything is covered and you don't pay the 2500 franchise. I broke my shouler and my husband broke his ankle. All the time off work, physio, medications... were covered. We did npt pay anything. In Canada, if you have an accident you must use your sick time and when that is used up you must take an unpaid leave.
the fact that they voted NO to reduce it to max. 10% of your earnings proves the egoism here I am so lost.... "I dont want to pay for others" .... pure egoism
Yeah, the sad truth is the cultural difference when it comes to healthcare changes between Canton. The german's tend to go less often to the doctor, and tend to be more about self medicating or just no medicating and letting it go. Because of that their insurances is generally cheaper. While the rest (Especialy Romand Folks) we tend to go more often to the doctor, which makes the prices go higher, especially when you take in the fact that doxtors are lacking arround here. A big part is that if the germans don't want it, we don't get it. The german side tends to also generally be more focused on one self pays for themself, while the Romand especially we are more on the social system of everyone should pay a small part for everyone.
@@camelopardalis84Switzerland is made up of 4 national languages and also somewhat of 3 cultural regions each language 1 region roughly (the fourth one is really rarely spoken so no one cares about them). And the italian part makes up the last region and vote also right wing / center but a bit more right than the german part, they vote on crossboarder stuff like migrant workers and so on due to their proximity to italy

Well.. you could also say.. “i reduce the 2500.- and pay a little more per month.” So it won’t shock you if you have something. Believe me having a disease and only having to pay 1000.-/year and the monthly price is a good deal - its not bad though.

About weekend parties. I never had a problem having a party in over 20 years. You just have to be decent and inform your neighbour about the party and that they should come over if it‘s too loud. Assuming of course that you don‘t party every fucking weekend like crazy. For that you should go to a place that is made to host parties.
I come in Switzerland 18 years ago, thanks god, best choice of my life. Feel free to leave if you don't like it, and stop spread fear of this beautiful country.
1. Look into IPV. The government will usually pay you back at least some of the healthcare cost, unless you earn good money. All it takes is filling out an online form for 3 minutes with your Cantons' website. 2. Not always. There are many exceptions to the rule such as carnivals, night markets and so on. Rather than just having people loiter every day, Swiss people are as efficient as always and all go loiter together on designated times. 3. Low % alcohol like beer and wine is legal at age 16. Same for tobacco. The issue is not the ones legally consuming these products, but the ones that start earlier than that, sometimes as young as 13.
You will find no place on earth with more natural beauty than 🇨🇭. Having top notch insurance, paying relatively fewer taxes, and living in a place that is really Heaven’s doorstep are small prices to pay from what you describe.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you're not impressed by mountains and lakes, Switzerland has little to offer-its surf beaches really can't compare with Australia's, for example. 😏 Let's be honest, Switzerland is tiny and just can't compete with countries like Australia and Canada for sheer range and impressiveness of natural scenery. But sure, what it has is beautiful to most people.
Norways Nature is far more beautiful than Switzerlands. Sweden has a much better culture. Denmark has a much better living standard. Brits have a far better humor. Switzerland is not the paradise you think it is. There are SO many other cultures that are better than the Swiss culture. You have to get off your high horse. Not many people actually want to stay in Switzerland. They just want your money and leave after a few years for a more relaxed culture. Only the Swiss are happy in Switzerland. I lived in Switzerland and it was the WORST country ever to live in, especially Zurich and the German speaking part. Ticino is the only area which is manageable, but only because so many kind Italians live there.
I can imagine Switzerland probably not the best worldwide (and here not considering whats the thing that matters to the people that post). But as well not the worse. 5% net population growth from people (en)joining for the past years. I guess all of them had their valid reasons.
The Swiss healthcare system is expensive, yes. But they get you anything you need. I lived in the UK for a while and the NHS is nice for basic stuff like contraception or immediate maladies. But as soon as you have something serious, or chronic you are on your own. Needed physio, they simply refused to pay. Swiss insurance covered my physio in the UK with no issues instead….
Health insurance is never free, really. In Switzerland you just choose the provider and cost. In other countries it may simply be the national provider, which is usually very low quality. But in Poland I paid the same money for my insurance, which was simply obligatory but was state provided
Your deductible is not paid "upfront", you end up receiving a bill from your insurance company after they covered your initial cost. I.e., your from a doctor or hospital SHOULD go to the insurance company (unless you failed to provide your card/insurance information to the healthcare provider). Afterwards the insurance companies bills you for your elective deductible. Your deductible can be 300.-, 500.-, 1,000.-, 1,500.-, 2,000.-, 2,500.-. Whilst a lower deductible does impact your monthly premium it all sorts itself out if you compare the annual costs. So, instead of having the insurance being deducted directly from your wages or taxes, you pay it as a monthly premium. Ain't no culture shock, it's just a system. And for the teenagers smoking, the legal age is 16.
Healthcare is compulsory - but its mandatory if you stay more than 3 months. Its kinda understandable actually as they dont deduct anything from your salary for medical care, which is very normal for most european countries. So its not THAT surprising. In my home country half my salary went to public deductions that are mandatry. Trust me, the swiss system is a good middle way between EU and US. You can choose a plan of either high deductible lower monthly pay, or higher monthly pay lower deductible. Its a choice. Dont come to switzerland if you are not prepared to be living in silence, cause the walls are fucking thin yall. Smoking is also a pretty european thing, in my home country most people do it to have extra breaks at work or just to socalize, we also have party smokers. Everything actually makes sense, its nice to live here, but not nice to get old here because if you did not save up a tonshit of money the base pension will give you nothing. Also, if you dont LOVE nature, its pretty boring. Ah finally an edit to add: Amazon is not in Switzerland :3, swiss are very much nationalists in a way that they promote internal goods over external. Even though everything is expensive, most jobs pay you enough to get buy unless you have a lower salary job and want to live in central zurich, you will have no issues.
In certain regions in a city they give a f u c k of the quiet hour in Switzerland.Four years ago I cost 250,000 francs. I survived. I'm glad I have the insurance.
All of these points that you mentioned are perhaps a shock but more in a positive sense and if not then you definitely have a wrong perception but Switzerland is not perfect either, just still a few steps ahead of America and the EU countries and in all of them areas! When it comes to loud music, I can only say one thing: We in Switzerland just work and don't spend our time making videos to get attention
wait until you get injured, youll be thanking the swis medical insurance. yeah its quit expensive but it is god damn worth it, also with the smoking, its with the majority of the eu as well, not just switzerland, but yeah for that your right
ALLE??? Nur eine sehr spezielle Art von Auswanderern. Es gibt tausende von Menschen, die in andere Länder auswandern und niemals in die Schweiz ziehen wollen.
The lady is not telling the whole truth here. You can decide for yourself from 300-2500 how high the maximum amount is that you have to pay yourself, depending on this there are different monthly costs. Furthermore, this does not apply to everything, many things are still covered depending on the insurance. Everything is expensive in Switzerland, but the quality of the services and products is absolutely world class.
Except for the smoking part, these are actually signs of a civilized country. Health insurance should be mandatory, so that people are insured! If you cannot afford it, there is actual support for it. But for swiss living standards and the quality of care, it has a really fair price.
It is true that the health care system is expensive. The CHF 2,500 you mention is the franchise. The minimum is 300 which is the one I have. After that you still have to pay 10% of the bills (except hospital) up to a maximum of CHF 700. But the service is probably the best in the world, no waiting lists for most operations. But look at our salaries and the amount of tax we pay. As a retired person, my wife and I have an income of about chf 110,000 and we pay about chf 15,000 in tax. I am British and have lived in Switzerland for 45 years. Noise after ten you can take with a pinch of salt. Try inviting your neighbours to your party. It is true teenagers smoke too much, but as a teenager in England I would drink several beers on a night out. The Swiss teenager gets drunk on half a litre (a pint). For me the biggest cultural shocks were how important customs seem to be. How to greet people, the unnecessary rules. But the main integration problem is the language. It even takes Germans 3 months to understand Swiss German. Luckely in the German part, many Swiss speak excellent English.
I totally agree with issues about the health insurance and I am Swiss. I don't know who invented this system but they are taking us all for a ride. It's crazyyyyy and not in a good way. About the quiet hours I can only say it really depends on where you live and who your neighbours are. Good luck!! 🍀
you can put the deductible at 300 if you want to pay more monthly stuff..normal women do this because of the possibility getting pregnant and other stuff..
Missinformation sorry, you can choose your system, deductible/monthly ratio. It is the best system in the world. You get treated no questions asked and immediately. Money/insurance talks later. Quality comes at a price.
It's a shitty system. Poorer people still can't pay to go to the doctor, and if you really have to go, you must call 15 doctors before finding an open spot. Meanwhile, people richer took the low deductible and you end up paying for them to go to doctors.
To 2500 Fr you will have to pay another 700 Fr- this is the real cost. So yeah, and let's not forget- every damn year the monthly fees go up. You've got to love this country…
You may choose a yearly out-of-pocket option between 300 and 2500, and you can change your choice every year. Lower goes with higher monthly premiums, obviously.
But the health system in Switzerland is excellent! You have omitted to say that if you are struggling financially, the state subsidises your health costs.
18!? There’s fourteen year olds in my village (Swiss) smoking and vaping as if it makes them cool. (They’re good at hiding it, but when I was a student they offered me one (I was so close to saying yes, like seriously the stress kids here go through is too much for spoiled rich Swiss kids. The whole top class my year consisted of immigrants.))
Many people confuse the great quality healthcare in this country with Health insurance. Medical professionals in Switzerland do NOT earn 1/10 of what is being given to medical insurances. The main issue is the insurances and the BILLIONS, yes BILLIONS they have in Banks while doctors have to work overtime.
You can also have a deduction of CHF 300, the CHF 2500 is maximum and saves you about CHF 100 per month. So for max CHF 450 per month you will have a deduction of CHF 300, with an average income of 6800CHF / 7500 USD per month and an income tax rate of 10% on average it is not that shocking. In situations where you earn less or you support children, you can get financial support.
In Switzerland, at 18 years old, you are no longer a minor. You're considered an adult and therefore of course allowed to smoke and drink alcohol. And you can vote. So you are not exactly a "teenager" anymore. (I do not think smoking is good at any age, don't get me wrong).
That’s how Germans are. I mean Switzerland is just Germany but with more rich people and better facilities. Not criticising Germany it’s one of my fav countries , I am just praising Switzerland. Because the government is commendable and just better than most govt. out there. Again I am just sharing my opinion , no offence to anyone
If you want top-notch, affordable healthcare, there are only a few countries to choose from, and Switzerland is one of them. Is it crazy expensive if you are on a Swiss salary? No (the median yearly salary is over $85k - nurses make more than that). Do you need to worry about your insurance coverage if you lose your job? No. Does Switzerland have a demographic issue resulting in higher healthcare costs? Yes, but other European countries are worse off. Do low-income families get subsidiaries to pay there health insurance? Yes.. Etc...
All is totally true. But remember if you got a RollsRoyce of health System don’t be confused of the maintenance costs! And it’s still cheaper than in the us. But there are you paying it with your taxes😂 and yes. Sleeping is so important so be quiet from 10p.m till 7a.m. especially on Sunday! Christians go then to church 10-11a.m. No loud noises between 12am an 2pm. It’s called Mittagsruhe.
Sunday is a holy day and it's correct to have one day in the week with no noise, no stress, no shopping. A quit day...only to go promenade with your family and friends...
As a french living in Switerland I am so thankful to have the chance to live in this country. It is clearly not perfect nevertheless i consider that it is a miracle. Swiss people please keep your country, your traditions and your rules.

Never paid a dime of those costs.
I pay gladly when I know there's people like you're dad that would be ruined if they would have to pay for everything.
Like in America, it's just so crazy how people would rather kill themselves rather than call the ambulance! TwT
You never know when you might need it.
BUT we definitely have to humble health insurance's!! Like we need them, but they definitely try to play with us.
Yes..Insurance is expensive. But you will not die WAITING for care..like in my home country Portugal...were health care is free. You choose 😊
You don't have to sell your house to continue care.
how much is it monthly?
Depends on different factors, like age, place you live and your deductible whichbis minimum 300 to max 2500 bucks. Roughly between 200 and 500 bucks a month. The higher the deductible the lower the monthly rate and vice versa
This woman is not telling the whole story about deductibles, no-one says you have to get one that is Sfr2500. Mine i have is Sfr.500.
Oh I had once 1 week of intensive care costing 120k CHF...!
So yeah, not complaining at all about the health insurance!

One time you’re having a real health issue in Switzerland and you’ll learn what you were paying for.
For example:
Deductible: CHF2'500 -> monthly payment: CHF300
Deductible: CHF300 -> monthly payment: CHF400
That sounds about right, but costs vary depending on your insurance company.
No 400 usd for 300?Where are you living? In januar again 9% healthcare did go up
I pay 650 usd for my regular insurance

And 2500 is like half of one average salary here
Exactly... no compensation in America where you pay 10k if u were in Emergency or if u deliver sooo is not that bad
Don't worry 2500 CHF will be reached almost immediately if you need medical attention 😂

@@eliotteht1919they pay 90% of it when you passed the franchise, not half. you just have to pay 10%
Just inform your neighbours when you're having a party, it'll be fine as long as they know
Otherwise pay more per month and reduce the initial participation to 300 swiss franks.
Well the deductible is this way to prevent people to get unnecessary treatments.
Switzerland: $2500 dedutible, expensive monthly premium.
United States: Hold My Beer
That’s what I thought!
Lol yup
@@Jaegerxx I got less then 2500 and I pay 336. Tell me your insurance pls!!!

You define a high deductible health insurance plan as a $2500 deductible? In the USA our high deductible plans go up to $6250 for an individual and double that for a family plan!
Surely it’s not like that for everyone? Like it cannot possibly be that much even for someone who makes minimum wage
As soon as you have just SOME medical
Issues or take regular medication, a low deductible is better.

Honestly it ends up being about the same
For the noise, it depends on a few factors really.
You choose your deductible. 300 drives to a very expensive monthly bill. 2500 deductible drives to a reasonable monthly bill.
when i arrived here in 1986 from the noisy philippines, i never had problem about the 10pm silence policy, i respect that because people work here everyday and wait until friday nite for karoke nite at the bar...

Legal prostitution and brothels in the city were a culture shock for me in Switzerland.
the fact that they voted NO to reduce it to max.
@@TransSwissCat The Germans?
@@camelopardalis84Switzerland is made up of 4 national languages and also somewhat of 3 cultural regions each language 1 region roughly (the fourth one is really rarely spoken so no one cares about them). Basically the german speaking part is about 60% of the population and is more conservative-centre, they usually vote for economic stuff and immigration policies. the french part which is about 22% of the population are beyond the „röschtigraben“ (a cultural border between certain states) which are generally more left and liberal, they tend to vote for workers rights, social welfare and climate stuff. And the italian part makes up the last region and vote also right wing / center but a bit more right than the german part, they vote on crossboarder stuff like migrant workers and so on due to their proximity to italy
@@placeholder4988 I am Swiss myself and I know these things. Thanks for taking the time to type them out, but I was just being confused/having an issue with the phrasing "the Germans".
@@camelopardalis84 Ah my bad for misunderstanding then.
The health insurance stuff is basically best case scenario in the US.
You must be out of the US...the Europeans have probably the beste Healthcare systems...US is for sure better then Pakistan but nowhere near to Switzerland, Germany etc...
Wow. I'm French. This seems crazy... 😮
Well.. you could also say.. “i reduce the 2500.- and pay a little more per month.” So it won’t shock you if you have something. Believe me having a disease and only having to pay 1000.-/year and the monthly price is a good deal - its not bad though.
the 2nd point may be true, but its very much depending on the neighbors. some ppl here are pretty chill about that
Where do you exactly live in Switzerland where they take the quiet hours serious? Seems new for me.
You sound angry, frustrated and disappointed, but, what made you stay for 5 years?
Cheap compulsory Healthcare and very little noise pollution😂😂
You sound angry, frustrated and disappointed. She has her reasons, is allowed to say what she thinks and finally, will probably not answer to you.
She brings up valid reasons foreigners could be culture shocked and you complain about her being angry?
@@taitanu1614hahahaha cheap healthcare hahha i pay 650 usd. She only pays 300 because of her deducable.
@@lilyjane1011well if my country is so bad that she has to complain then she can find another country that fits her needs. Rather than complain she could be proactive these literally aren’t cultural shocks just a different way of living, also we aren’t in the eu so we have different laws and regulations and if people dont like it they are free to leave. Our country is clean and has very little problems we aren’t mean people and we are very open just don’t disrespect our way of life like any respectable person would feel. Have a great day.
We pay high health insurance but you pay average 15-20% taxation, where in other countries is minimum 30%
As a swiss im fine with it... my wife and me we have 2500 up front and 290 a month each. We have 2 Dogs and 2 cats. We have a big appartement (5 rooms) in the region of bern, 1 car (mercedes e-class 2019), 1 quad and a motor bike. When all bills and everyday necessities are paid, I have 2500 left. This is money that I can spend or save. I usually save 1800-2000. I am a construction worker and my wife works part-time as a pharmacist and earns slightly less than I do. show me a country where people are doing so well financially?
Swiss people don't seem to understand how well they have it.
I am Indian and Swiss sounds heaven to me. I live in an effed up country. You are lucky dear.
yes very easy to bash your country online. I am assuming you are someone who has no medical insurance in India. Cause once you have a proper insurance, the out of pocket is very much manageable. And you have hospitals available at all ends of the spectrum. So that even the poor can afford treatment. Yes, the attitude of the staff in a government hospital is.not great, but at least the poor get treatment?
Since you think India is so effed up, why dont you get lost. We dont need losers like you
Really, medical bills are affordable in India, no great chocolates though. I think you are a bot
You must be kidding! India had great healthcare and emergency care is breeze.
@@js11238 Yes, we have great healthcare. Everyone is served so well. We are 99% great..right??
No corruption in any private or public sector, no tax on us, poor is rich and rich is richer and middle class is an Arab in this third world country, no employment issues, no population issue, rap3s happening to girls and women 2 to 80 yrs old, casteism, racism, Hindu Muslim, pollution, Tobacoo and cig, alcohol addicts, bars, item numbers in movies. Truly, we are great, we need more temples than great infra. We need more statues than employment.
You need to know where your hard earned money goes in the country. And no I am not a bot, learn to accept the fault in our country too. Can't take criticism well. You are more andhabhakt than deshbhakt.
Expat here. I would take 2500 deductible with monthly premius any day of the week if it meant 10-14% income tax. Which in Switzerland it does. Maybe Germany would be a better fit for you, with taxes upwards of 50%
so i pay 250.- per month for my helth insurance and have to at least pay 300.- and then, they will pay everything, i just have to go to my house doc and she will transfer the bill to the insurance. I still have to pay like a percentage of the bill, but thats like between 10-30.-
so if you take a look to amerika, i think we are truly good here in switzerland :)
About weekend parties. I never had a problem having a party in over 20 years. You just have to be decent and inform your neighbour about the party and that they should come over if it‘s too loud. Assuming of course that you don‘t party every fucking weekend like crazy. For that you should go to a place that is made to host parties.
As a Swiss the Swiss healthcare insurance system is one of the worst in the world.
We need a universal insurance, no private insurances.
insane how french part and deutsch part of switzerland are very different
I come in Switzerland 18 years ago, thanks god, best choice of my life. Feel free to leave if you don't like it, and stop spread fear of this beautiful country.
amen
Probably you ever been on Greece..
Have you ever been to canada?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you're not impressed by mountains and lakes, Switzerland has little to offer-its surf beaches really can't compare with Australia's, for example. 😏
Let's be honest, Switzerland is tiny and just can't compete with countries like Australia and Canada for sheer range and impressiveness of natural scenery.
When it comes to loud music, I can only say one thing: We in Switzerland just work and don't spend our time making videos to get attention
wait until you get injured, youll be thanking the swis medical insurance. yeah its quit expensive but it is god damn worth it, also with the smoking, its with the majority of the eu as well, not just switzerland, but yeah for that your right
Deswegen wollen ja alle hier rein. Weil die Dinge hier funktionieren.
nur oberflächlich
Yassssss

I love the ‘no noise thing’. Why you have to put with noisy imbeciles. After a long day at work you just want your peace and quiet.
As someone who had breastcancer at the age of 25 I gladly pay the monthly fee and my gratitude to my insurance is skyhigh!
@@EugeneBuvardcurious to understand. Especially IF you are living in CH and if yes where you get your infos from. Anyways happy to clarify/help you
Just don‘t go to the doctor for every tiny little mini thing, you won‘t be paying anything exept the monthly payment for the insurance…
You don't have to pas upfront your medical bill, you just receive an invoice
To 2500 Fr you will have to pay another 700 Fr- this is the real cost. So yeah, and let's not forget- every damn year the monthly fees go up. You've got to love this country…
You may choose a yearly out-of-pocket option between 300 and 2500, and you can change your choice every year. Lower goes with higher monthly premiums, obviously.
But the health system in Switzerland is excellent! You have omitted to say that if you are struggling financially, the state subsidises your health costs.
Stimmt überhaupt nöd was sie verzellt 😂 liebi grüess uus de schwiiz
Then leave, lady!
As long as you’re not insulting, Swiss people, I am fine with it because I live in Switzerland, goddamnit since ever since I was born
As a swiss i confirm that the average age of first time smoking is probably around 12-14
