When I am creating a new campaign and I go to the Performance objective I get this message: it cannot be changed once the campaign is published. If you want to use a different performance objective, create a new ad set.

I have a Question. How would I run an ad like this, but sending them to my website which has IDX? My main goal is to have them submit the Instant Form, but how do I then track which properties they are looking at in real time every time they go back to the website or receive home alerts? The form on our website, if filled out, enables the tracker... but if they are filling the instant form on Facebook, the last thing leads are going to want to do is fill out ANOTHER form.... any help you can give on this would be appreciated, sir!
Totally viable. To do this, instead of setting the ad set "Conversion location" as "Instant forms", you select "Website" and configure a custom conversion event that triggers after people opt-in through the form on your IDX site. Additionally, you'll need to add the link to IDX site page you want people to go to on the ad level.
I dont understand creating a home list. Doesnt the home list need to be curated to a specific budget of buyer. Wont the home list need other constantly be updated as homes sell?

Why don't you upload images that are optimized for the different ad placements? I know why you don't let FB do it, but would it not enhance conversion having the correct aspect ratios for the various placements?
Generally square 1:1 images on all placements works the best. For ex. 1080x1920 for stories placement hides your ad copy. Sometimes 5:4 or even 16:9 can outperform 1:1, so it is dependent on the image creative in question. Note that the images I used in the video were just random home pictures I pulled from Google - not ideal in any capacity.
