I got hired by Cambly yesterday!! I have been watching your videos on the company. They were really helpful! I feel like I need to thank you, so, Thank you! 😊

For what it’s worth, my video just got rejected by Cambly because they don’t want an edited video :( they also don’t accept portrait mode at all anymore.
very good video. 2 tips. Use your computer but get a capture card and a hdmi adapter. Better for storage and no file transfers. tip 2, raise your light above your head and the rings won't reflect through your glasses. put a cheap led (dollar store) on your other side if you don't have enough light
Hi Daesha, I am Suchika from India and intend to be a tutor for Cambly. Your video helped me with basic guidelines and all about Do's and Don'ts. Thank you so much for helping with such a crisp and to-the-point information.
Nice tips but definitely the most helpful thing was your demo video at the end. It's really good and I had no idea we could make something so personal (including hobbies, photos of band etc). Really opened my eyes and got my imagination going. Thank you very much, subscribed and liked. :)
Thank you so much for this video! I did my videos but my audio lagged and everything I did was backward. I am going to do it on my phone as I really need to get this done so I can start working when they hire me. Great tips! As an ESL teacher with glasses, may I suggest to you using lights that don't reflect your "lights" in your lenses. It took me a while to find the right ones. It took me 2 years but I finally found them! I watched a lot of videos on how to use lighting with glasses.
Hi Pam! Thank you so much for watching 😊 I hope the newly recorded video on your phone worked out better for you! Thanks for the tips about the lights and glasses. In my newer videos, I just try not to wear them and stay "blind" for a few minutes of filming😅. I'll try to do some more research on lighting for glasses. Thanks again!
Hi Daesha, wow I feel so confident after watching your video. You make me feel more at ease now. I am watching you all the way from Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬

Thanks. I just finished my TEFL certification. I plan to finish my profile on Cambly this week. I’m new to teaching English and tutoring. Can you offer any pros and cons of tutoring adults and children? Which students do you recommend first for a beginner such as myself?
Kiffen please how can I contact you, I need you to please guy me about TEFL certification, I am Nigerian and I can't register from here, please tell me how to reach you. Kind regards
Hi! I apologize greatly for the delayed response. I think teaching adults is much easier to start with since most adults prefer to just have a conversation to practice their English. So if you're comfortable with striking up conversations with strangers, definitely adults. Even if you want to have an idea of what you will be discussing during your lesson then you can still send a message to your adult students before class. Plus you have to teach with regular Cambly before you teach with Cambly Kids. Hope this helps!
Hi Teacher Daesha Thank you so much for this video OMG I can't tell you how much this has helped with my confidence! I was really nervous to do my intro video because I didn't know what to say or even how to start. Were you also nervous talking to the foreign students for the first time? How was your first experience?. Much love from South Africa
Hi Ellie, Thank you so much for watching! It means so much that I was able to help you with your self-confidence!! I was VERY nervous during my first conversation. It's a bit awkward for me to talk with people I know on a voice call. So, it was very nerve-wracking during my first video call with a stranger. But, once I finished my first hour or so I was more confident. Thanks for the love South Africa 💚
I'm qualified accounting and economics teacher (high school level), i want to join Cambly, but I am worried about content, I do not know what I would have to teach, whether they'll be some sort of work to give out or something. Like what kind of work or things would I need to prepare before class. I really appreciate the this video, gave out a lot of tips that I might miss when i sign up.
Hi Thozama, you do not need to worry about content. In fact, I talk about things you can use for content in this video: th-cam.com/video/7j7wSfY3ysA/w-d-xo.html . For main Cambly classes most students would want casual conversation or you could use some of those suggestions I recommend in the video I shared. And with Cambly Kids classes al material is prepared. I hope this helps :)
Teacher Daesha, hello! I'm hopeful you still check comments on this video since it's about 1 year old. First & foremost, THANK YOU for making this video! Your 8 "do & don'ts" will prove VERY beneficial to me. I plan on apply to Cambly in the very near future, so guidance from an experienced Cambly tutor such as yourselfl is invaluable. I just subscribed to your channel because of your kindness. Your updated introduction video is excellent! In #4, you suggest to EDIT YOUR VIDEO. That's great advice! I have several questions on this topic I hope you answer. 1. May I use a nice soft music in the background in my intro video like you did? I really think it adds a warm & friendly ambiance. Please advise if Cambly will allow me to edit in some soft background music into my video. 2. I enjoyed seeing the graphics you edited into your intro video showcasing your interests in art, music, TV shows. Will Cambly allow me to do graphic overlays in my video like you did? Please advise. I think what you did is a great way to show prospective students possible topics to discuss in their conversation lessons. Great idea! 3. Does my wall backdrop have to be blank? I note you have plants hanging. That looks great! I would like to add some art in my background. Nothing overbearing. Blank wall is too vanilla for me. Is Cambly OK if I have art hanging in the back wall? I apologize for being so verbose. I'm excited about applying to Cambly & I want to make sure I do a great job with my intro video. Your video here has inspired me. I hope you'll see this comment & replu back. Thank you! Your new subscriber, John
Hi John! Thank you so much for all your kind words, for watching and subscribing 😁 I will try my best to answer your questions: 1. Yes. Cambly allows soft bg music. 2. Yes. Cambly allows graphics. 3. Yes. I personally prefer and recommend having a bit of simple decor in the background. I hope this was helpful! If you want more help with video editing this video will help: th-cam.com/video/l5LVOkkHue4/w-d-xo.html
Daesha, thanks for your wonderful tips. I am in the process of completing my application. I am doing so on my desktop. I am not tech savvy. So how do I upload my intro video from my cell phone to the desktop please.
Hi! I've was thinking of doing a video but I think telling you the steps would be better. To upload you need to connect your phone to your computer using your USB charging cable. Then access your video on your phone from your computer and you can upload it to your profile from there. I hope this helps 😁
Hi Teacher Daesha, English is my first language and I am Nigerian, can I apply to teach on Cambly? This is because I saw that South Africa is the only African country on the list on the cambly site. Thank you
This was such a useful video! Thank you. I will be signing up to Cambly shortly. I have a question that you might be able to answer. What is the earning potential like using Cambly? I plan to travel the world soon and wondered if using Cambly could help fund my travels to counties in SE Asia.
So glad you plan to sign up! However, I must be realistic. I do not think Cambly will support you enough to travel the world. I think a realistic and optimistic earning potential is about $100 a week. Sorry.
Hi I can't see where to click the GET STARTED in the cambly website. But I can open it using my phone, though testing the connection needs to be in computer or laptop.Hope you have time to reply on this matter.Thank you
Hi! Sorry for the late reply. I don't believe you will be able to see the get started button when trying to apply on your phone or mobile device. I would recommend applying on your computer or laptop so the connection can be tested as you mentioned. I hope this helps ☺
You’re welcome! Thank you so much for watching!! Yes you can teach with Cambly and Cambly Kids. You can do this by just leaving your schedule open to all reservations or you can open specific times for Cambly and specific times for Cambly Kids.
Hi Teacher Daesha. Thank you for the great tips, it really helped a lot. I just wanted to know-I did an application to Cambly a few months ago without a reply. I then redid my intro vids based off your tips on the same profile. Should I continue to wait for reply on new intro vids or start a new profile from scratch with different email? Have you ever heard of someone who did this and had their old profile approved?
Hi Benette! Great questions! Before losing hope on your original application, try reaching out to Cambly for an update following the instructions in this video: th-cam.com/users/shortsc1_ACzeRgQ8 If they respond and say your application is rejected then you can move forward with a new email and application. Hope this helps!
Hey Daesha your a very lovely women and very helpful can I ask you for some advise please I live in London and want to turtor online and set high prices doing it long term I also am good with kids as a niche since I was 12 years with siblings can I get even higher for that too?
Hey! Thank you for your kind words 😊 Unfortunately, Cambly's pay will always remain the same. I wish it would increase because I also would like to have a higher pay rate that matches my abilities and efforts. Do you have a degree? If so, then many companies are willing to give you higher pay just for that. If you're like me and you don't, then the only company I've heard that pays higher is preply and it's not just for English. I've never looked further into since I think the population of English learners are low on the pllatform and that's my target audience. Sorry for the long read and wish I could be of more help.
Hi. Thank you for the very informative video. I applied about a month ago, I see that there is "new talent" written under my profile picture but the status bar still reads "pending". Should I give up and move onto other companies? How long does it take for Cambly to give a definite answer?
Hi! Thank you for watching 😀 If it says new talent, I would think that means you have been accepted. Have you tried reaching out to Cambly by submitting a ticket and asking them directly?
Hi I hope you got hired at this point. But if you see ‘new talent’ written beneath your name, then it means that you are a new applicant at Cambly but are not necessarily accepted. You must receive an email regarding your acceptance of refusal at Cambly. Hope this helps!
thank you for this video it's really motivated and please I'm just new to go In for this teaching in cambly please I need help on industry vedio I didn't really understand it
Hi Daesha, this was a really informative video so thank you for sharing. Do you have any tips on what I can say in my intro video as it relates to me being a new tutor with no teaching experience but I am tefl trained.
Hi Stephanie! I'm glad it was helpful. I would focus more so on the fact that you are TEFL trained and ready to teach. Also share any accomplishments you have achieved so far, they do not have to relate directly to teaching. I hope this helped!
I noticed in the first Cambly instructor video I saw the instructor had edited in videos of himself skydiving, traveling, etc. Is this okay to do? I mean, the guy is featured on the main Cambly page as the first video.

Greetings! I am completing my Cambly profile and this video was very helpful! I was just wondering since I just recently completed my TEFL certification and don’t really have an area I specialize in yet what else could be be said there?
Thanks for watching! I'm glad you found the video helpful! There's no need to have a specialized area of expertise. You could mention how "...being a newly TEFL certified teacher means you are equipped with all the updated and current curriculum for English learning." Focus on what you have and highlight your strengths. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much! I am 16 years old, can I be cambly teacher? Will it work the same if I become a teacher? I love learning about new cultures and languages and would love to share mines and I think it would be fun to teach English. I just don’t know if people will book a 16 year old?…and for the kids Cambly is that a separate app. I might want to try and work with people who are younger but I want to be open to everyone. I just feel more comfortable with kids lol. Would appreciate any advice!!

Hi Daesha, I am yet to start out on cambly and I need to know whether you may upload pre-order lessons for your students or are lessons required to be live?
Hi again Monique! I'm sorry for the delay. As I mentioned in my response to your earlier comment, you can upload pre recorded lessons but it's only for advertising when students look at your profile. You must teach live to work on Cambly. Sorry for the delay.

So if you're comfortable with striking up conversations with strangers, definitely adults. Even if you want to have an idea of what you will be discussing during your lesson then you can still send a message to your adult students before class. Plus you have to teach with regular Cambly before you teach with Cambly Kids. Hope this helps!
hello teacher Daesha, thanks foryour tips, it's my first time in your channel and i am grateful i bumped into your channel...
Hello! Thank you for your kind words🥺😊
This is a great help! Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Wow what a useful video !!! Thank you so much ❤
Thanks for watching! 😊
super helpful, thank you Queen!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for the information.
You're welcome! 😊
Hi Teacher Daesha
Thank you so much for this video OMG I can't tell you how much this has helped with my confidence!
Hello Daesha, can a Nigerian who also resides in Nigeria teach on Cambly?
@@TeacherDaesha Hi, how can I apply for Cambly Tutoring? Plz inform. plz keep on helping students, Tremendous job on your part. Thanks
Very helpful tips! Did you get accepted the first time you attempted?
Thanks a lot!
To whom should we address the intro video, the parents, the children/ students or to the Cambly Hiring Team????
Hi John! Thank you so much for all your kind words, for watching and subscribing 😁 I will try my best to answer your questions:

You're welcome! I'm glad it was helpful 😁
This is good info. Thank you
Glad it was helpful! 🥰
Very greatful for your videos, I was looking for a side hustle as I begin grad school and cambly seems like a perfect fit for me! Subscribed!
Also big BTS fan too lol
Thank you Jasmin!!! I hope everything works out for you. And I hope to share more tips with you soon 😁
Awesome! Love to meet fellow ARMY 💜💜
@@TeacherDaesha Thanks!
Hi Teacher Daesha, English is my first language and I am Nigerian, can I apply to teach on Cambly? This is because I saw that South Africa is the only African country on the list on the cambly site. Thank you
Yes you can! As long as you are a native speaker you can teach with Cambly :)
Good info. Thank you
Glad it was helpful Annabella!
I hope this helps ☺
aarrggg...i need to redo my video! Thanks for this info.
Hope it went well. Thanks for watching!
I love BTS!!!! Thanks for your video
I love running into Army in the comments! Thanks for watching 💜
I really love your video😊
Thank you😊
Thank you so much for this. Can we teach on both Cambly and Cambly for kids and how does that work?
You’re welcome! Thank you so much for watching!! Yes you can teach with Cambly and Cambly Kids. You can do this by just leaving your schedule open to all reservations or you can open specific times for Cambly and specific times for Cambly Kids.
How are your bookings.... its's up to the students to book you correct? if that is so, it's possible not to get any bookings right?
Hope this helps!
such a helpful video!
Glad it was helpful! 😊
Would like to start cambly
thank you
Thank you so muchhhh🙏🙏
You're welcome 😊
@@v0rii712 ok thanks...was wondering
thank you for this video it's really motivated and please I'm just new to go In for this teaching in cambly please I need help on industry vedio I didn't really understand it
You got this! Feel free to let me know if you have any questions that were not answered in the video.
Thank you so much
No problem 😊Thank you for watching!
I noticed in the first Cambly instructor video I saw the instructor had edited in videos of himself skydiving, traveling, etc. Is this okay to do? I mean, the guy is featured on the main Cambly page as the first video.
Great tips! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful 😁
@@TeacherDaesha hey can u please help me
@@naomimoeletsi Hi! I can sure try. What do you need help with?
@@TeacherDaesha 1. In terms of doing demo lessons for cambly kids , can i use my phone to record the lesson ?
2. I have some written sentences like " my name is ....... " but when i take through my face camera the words looks upside down so any advice on that
@@naomimoeletsi 1. Yes 2. When I record on my phone both my front and rear camera show what is written correctly. But just in case have you tried using the opposite camera? (Ex: if you recorded with the front camera try recording with your camera) I hope that helps 😀
Hi , I can't get the verification email, what should I do?
Is it necessary to have your video on in the trail lessons for students?
Thank you. Please how can i get a Tefl certification
Hi! You are so welcome :) Unfortunately you have to be at least 18 years old to teach with Cambly. But don't give up! This link shares more info on other places you can tutor at 16 potatoblogger.com/online-tutoring-jobs-for-teens/ I hope it helps :)
Portrait is vertical and Landscape is horizontal.
Thanks for pointing that out Gail 😅
@Teacher Daesha You are welcome! Blessings! 🙌🏽
