Damn I just commented on your last video couple of hours ago that I hope you make FX30 videos. Because that's what l am thinking of buying after so many years with Sony A6000. And BOOM! here you are with an FX30 video, thats just awesome.
Dude, Pixel Mapping function allows camera to detect defective pixels on the sensor and interpolate data from surrounding pixels. It's not for knowing that "black is true black" :)
Oh my bad. I assumed it was the same as gain mapping/black balancing
Do you need to use it everytime before you shoot?
@@paperstacksfilms You need to use it, when you will notice "dead pixels".
@@vvlad78Actually, Sony recommends to Pixel Map every three days. If Pixel Mapping isn't done regularly you may see bright spots in your recordings/images.
Is this necessary every time you turn the camera on? Just wondering if during a shoot you have to power down or swap a battery does this need to be done every time?

Yeah I this must be a super rare bug as I and many other people don’t have this issue. Gerald undone has even tested the camera and not had an issue

Definitely loving the 11mm prime lens with my FX30
I’m struggling to balance it on my gimbal as it is camera heavy and won’t balance? What do I do if I want to shoot on the 11mm? How do I add weight at the front?

Great video! Since the cfexpress cards are so expensive is it better to get a ninja v? There are some used ninja v for the price of a Cfexpress + charger. what do you think?

Cracking video as always. Which sd cards do you use, or more to the point, which sd cards can I get away with, without too many problems. Having to buy cxexpress cards plus a lens makes these cameras very expensive.
Check the limitations of recording formats based on which card you use. A v90 so card won’t be enough to use the s&q 120fps 10bit 422 for example. Other formats can be used with a v60 card but you won’t have access to the camera’s full potential. Right now I’m stuck with a v60 until I can afford a 350$ cfexpress 160gb.. got some glass first ;)
How do you get your colors so vibrant? When I shoot it always looks so flat (I'm not shooting in LOG).
Just got mine today ! So far it great but I see ppl have hissing issue with Dji Mic , would you mind do a test if possible? Thr Deity d4 dual mic works fine so I was surprised

I've notice an unusual thing about my FX30. Shooting in 2500 ISO in settings with good lighting results in cleaner footage in Flexible ISO as compared to Cine EI. But, shooting in low light, there is little to no difference in cleanliness between Flexible ISO and Cine EI in 2500 ISO. I've heard this same experience with a few other users. For now, I'm sticking with Flexible ISO.
I am not sure. I have not noticed this or I haven’t pixel peeped far enough. Either way try shoot at base iso 800 as much as possible and introduce lights there after

What cage did you use on the FX30 in the beginning of the video?
Great vid! My new FX30 has a stuck pixel. It's noticeable in the night footage I just posted. Debating another pixel remapping or just exchange it - this hasn't happened with other new Sonys when they were new.
Definitely suggest pixel mapping and if that is not fixed send it back under warranty

hi jason, have you a good solution to mount a Sony ECM mic (G1 or B10) + an external monitor on a fx30/fx3 please. In a "run&gun" way, I mean not too bulky or heavy, ideally with the monitor center. not with magic arms or tricks on the side :) cage or handle are hallowed .Thx

Could you maybe do a video on how to get the cleanest image with cine ei, I keep getting noise in the shadows even if I over expose.
Same for me. Nice to read that I am not alone. High ISO noise level on my FX30 ist definetly more noticeable than on my a6600. My guess is that the FX30 does not use any internal noise reduction on video, but I am not sure...
fx 30 upgrading to 2.0 reads lexar sd 128gb 270mb/s 1800x class 10 uhs-ii v60 and sd uhs-ii 128gb v60: write speed up to 130mb/s and read speed 250mb/s or sdxc prograde v60 uhs- the 128gb ? Or what other sdxc similar to these?

Just got the fx30 why I can’t feed video from my media card using a LiveU? I can do a live feed, but when I try to playback footage it won’t let me.

I move from photography to videography. Can I ask how can I use shortcut for exposure compensation in video mode? I find it very inconvenient to dig deep into the menu for changing the exposure compensation value, espcially when it's recording a footage. Thanks!
Just set a custo button. It's pretty easy. For example the middle button of the dial at the back doesn't have anything set straight out the factory. I set exposure comp there.
@@SCHAUDENLUCAS Thanks. But I still cannot find exposure compensation being one of the options for any of the customisable buttons. Am I missing anything or what? Or do I need to add exposure compensation as one of the options manually?
@@bananabear009 Go to the last settings menu, the yellow one with the suitcase icon, then number 3 "operation customize", then the second"custom key /dial set." which is for video, then chose the button you want, then you will find "exposure comp." in the second menu (where all the exposure things are), its number 2.... Actually you have to click right one more time and confirm your selection. Enjoy
There’s been recent video about the FX30 not having a dual base ISO… please test out
I’ve tested mine multiple times and I believe this is very incorrect or a bug. It needs to be tested with the camera body cap on and cycle through the iso levels and you can see when it switches over or internal noise suppression kicks in
Wny does my FX 30 show 59.94p, 23.98p and 119.88p and not 60, 24 and 120?
I just got the Sony Fx30, and in my footage i notice horrible resolution.
I was shooting externally to my Ninja V+ 4k 60p 10-bit 422 using Prores codec in the ninja which is what i do for my fuji camera.
Any way, i Notice horrible results in my video.
In my video i notice Yellow pixels in my subject's face and all different parts of the skin, and if any one knows why this could happen let me know i would love to know what is going on.
Basically the yellowish green is in the midtones and shadows on skintones, no where else..
Very Strange, Was shooting Cine EI, S-Gamut3/S-log3, the Atamos Ninja Was in Legalize Mode, which is what your suppose to have it in.
I tested this happens in Flexible ISO mode too using S-Gamut3/S-log3.
I'm not sure if any one else has notice this or know what to do about it, i would love to hear it..
Jason. Good video BUT the camera literally asks you to do this the moment that you power it up for the first time 😂

Question. Has anyone had there fx30 freeze. Mine will and it will not turn off with the power switch. The only way to fix it is by taking the battery out. The a7iv does the exact same thing from what I could find

I was under the assumption the fx30 could only shoot jpeg didn’t know you could do raw.
One thing that is bad in the FX30 when recording audio is that its LPCM audio codec is not compatible with many editing programs.
When I put the footage in the timeline of my editing program I don't get any audio at all. Only picture.
And I found out it is because of its audio codec. So all the files need to be transcoded as a result. And I do not want to record external audio.
They should've used AAC instead of LPCM.
which editing software are you using?
