It is a great area out that way lots of history. My daughters husband grand parents live in Fort Louden. Way up a mountain. The road is dirt and gravel to get to their home.. His dad lives on Mercersburg Road. Nice peaceful area. It's like going back into time. Our daughter lives on 997 near the Letterkenny plant. Area full of deer and orchards. My daughters in laws were teachers as is my daughter. She teaches in the Tuscarora School district as a middle school music teacher. It's a different way of life out there. If you go on rt 11 outside of Chambersburg do your taste buds a treat and stop at the Igloo. Ice cream and shakes are really good. You won't be sorry. Enjoy your stay. The main strip in Chambersburg is full ofbold stores yet. Sadly they are disappearing. We went in one store that had metal paneled ceiling. It was like stores in lebanon used to be when I was a kid. I'm old. Lol. Thanks Cliff for a awesome video.
Hi Cliff, I do remember that video you made last Summer, it was an awesome day with people all in costumes, a really good re-enactment and that cannon was amazing to hear. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 💞
Thanks Cliff you never disappoint, fort is locked up, you have reserve footage. Yes, seeing the stockade fort is a whole lot better then trying to imagine one on a modern parking lot.
Hey your in my neck of the woods. Taught me so much I did not know about the area. Thanks so much. Funny how you can live somewhere and not know that much about its history.👍🙂
Cliff that was awesome. Loved the fort, watched it last year when you went to reenactment look forward to next one. That area was just beautiful, what gorgeous countryside. Once again that was fantastic and thanks for taking me along. Please stay safe and take care
Fort Granville, Fort Bedford, Fort Shirley farther north. Burnt Cabins, Fort Roberdeau,(sp) Forbes road. East Broadtop railroad, lots of historical sites up this way.
I haven't been there in years. There used to be a couple of thatched hogans along the trail by the creek. Are they still there? If anybody is interested there is a "Acoss The Centuries" event May 14th & 15th. 2022. Thanks for the great video.
I notice that no credit is given to the Indians for learning how to operate the British weapons especially weapons from a royal British army which must have had the latest hardware. Perhaps the French fur trappers showed them .
Cliff, That area is almost all open farm land and fields, would it have been heavily wooded in those days or similar to now? I whole heartedly agree with you about the Fort Loudon area, it's really peaceful, earlier in the video I thought I heard a KIngfisher, probably a Mockingbird. At Fort Mott State Park in South Jersey, there is a Confederate/Union Cemetery that has that same tranquil beauty.
I enjoyed your video. I will be speaking on my book about McDowell Mill Fort in June at Fort Loudoun at their Market Day event. All are welcome. Pam Bakker
THANK YOU FOR ASKING... "McDowell's Mill Fort in Markes, Pennsylvania, 1753-1840" is available on Amazon.com and all book sellers as well as the publisher, Sunbury Press. Pamela Bakker.
Very interesting. Thanks for initiating the super thanks. Was it mostly Indians or did some French actually come this far south. Stay well and be safe. Nice seeing some green in the video.
If your going to cover General Armstrong you should pay Kittanning and Blanket Hill a visit.
Historical sites!!! Our love ❤ I haven't been to this site though! Thanks for taking us there!

At Fort Mott State Park in South Jersey, there is a Confederate/Union Cemetery that has that
same tranquil beauty.
It was most likely wooded with pockets cleared by settlers.
