Thank you for this video - it brought back happy memories for me! One year my husband let me pick what I wanted to do for my birthday and I wanted to go camping and go to Fort Necessity; Fort Ligonier was a bonus! We'd never been to that area and when I read a review of Ohiopyle State Park camping facilities and saw someone complaining about the noise from trains, I knew it was the perfect spot because me and my husband are railfans. So driving out the road, heading for our destination, we saw a sign for Fort Ligonier, and I said, "let's go see if there's still a fort there." Wow! We were surprised! What a great place to visit! Thank you again for this video, it really made me smile, and reminisce!

This video is blowing me away!! I never knew Allegheny county's highest point was in Bryce Park. Thats only like 10 minutes or so from me.

Boyce Park is the highest point on public land. At least 2 other places higher.(1400 to 1410 feet). Not the first time Cliff has resorted to a legal HP.

I have learn more about the French and Indian War watching your videos then I did way back in school. Cliff right after you went by the entrance to Flight 93 Memorial the main road veered right and a road went straight. That is a part of the original Rte 30 built back in the 20s I think, first road to cross the US. It was marked by post painted with a red, white and blue stripe, and some are still along the highway.

I am a true native of Ligonier Valley. Both of my parents' ancestors fought in the battle of fort Ligonier. My fathers side was originally Amish and was recruited with the promise of payment of 400 acres of land for each family member, which was three, totaling 1,200 acres which he received after the land office in Philadelphia opened in 1760. My indirect tie is with another ancestor. They were from Yorktown, Pa and made all of the leather for Forbes' Army including the shoes, which were an older pattern and Fort Ligonier has the largest collection of period shoes in the world. They were preserved in the muck of the stream that used to run right along the fort. The former curator of Fort Ligonier is currently the Archivist of he Pennsylvania room at the Ligonier Valley Library.

The highest point in Allegheny County is near the intersection in of 286 and Saltsburg rd it’s a shame while at Boyce Park he did not show the only known trace of Forbes rd Known to exist in Allegheny County also the last two encampments of the Forbes expedition are within a couple of miles of Boyce park
