      Just replaced the switch ? Or did you lube it more and let it dry overnight?

    All this time I thought my microwave light flickering was the ghost of my brother coming to say, "Hi."

      I don’t know it being the ghost of your brother sounds much more likely

    Hi, great video. I have the exact same issue, How did you determine it was a bad microswitch? At first glance, it looks like a misalignment of the bottom latch for the door, as the catches do not line up like the top one does. I'm just wondering if I take the unit out and "reset" the plastic latch, would that work? Or was that caused by a failing microswitch?

    Okay guick question, I just replaced the bottom micro switch in microwave, issue is corrected, but now I'm getting error "F1E4". I guess that's just recheck wiring?

    • @ApartmentMaintenancePro
      @ApartmentMaintenancePro  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure you will have to look in the service manual which I believe is tucked away at the top vent

      @@ApartmentMaintenancePro awesome. Thank you! I went and took the board and had that tested and then it ended up being a bad board- no complete circuit. so I've ordered that part for $75 so now I'm just waiting. Thank you again for the video! You rock!

    Is it concerning enough that I should call my apartment maintenance to come fix it? Or will doing nothing be fine?

  • @amsimkiss

    Is there a risk of radiation escaping upon opening the door during operation when the switch is acting faulty like that? Mine flickers but only a couple times per month. I wasn't going to bother fixing it.

      @@ApartmentMaintenancePro I did notice afterwards that in one video they mentioned that there should be multiple door switches and that if any of them fail, then the oven won't operate. I checked out my microwave and it was 2 door switches (2 locations). I am guessing it's for safety because they'd otherwise be redundant. Be interesting to know the precise answer.

    • @Dave-cu7sh

      Microwaves won't emit carcinogenic radiation, only safe radiation such as infra-red (heat), and microwaves that are proven to be safe - I used to avoid them as well. You can sleep easy, Mr. & Mrs. Simkiss!

  • @theyommer
    @theyommer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    for me, along with the flickering light, when the oven times down to 0:00 it just stops with no alerts. Strangely disconcerting.

    When I took my keypad panel off, the little white 2 pin connector attached to the control board came off completely. One of the pins broke halfway down in the hole, and the other fully came out.
    Now because Whirlpool thought it would be fine to have zero slack in that cable, I have to sodder it back in and hope it works... or else buy a new unit.

    • @ApartmentMaintenancePro
      @ApartmentMaintenancePro  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sucks, pretty unlucky, ive dropped that panel many times and it hasnt ripped the connect out like that but I know what your referring to :(

    Hey, so when I replaced the bottom switch for the microwave. For some odd reason when I open the door of a microwave turn on the power and everything the plate start spinning by self. have you ever came across with that problem before.

    • @schnerf

      I just had the same thing :(

    • @schnerf

      Figured it out. The parts listed are BOTH for the top of the wmh31017fs. The switch listed as bottom is the right top (normally closed). The bottom is normally open. I used the listed part numbers to replace both top switches (there are two, one on either side of the housing). Both looked pretty gross on the top terminal so I also sat some heat shrink on those terminals loosely to help protect them. I put the original bottom switch back in and it’s all good. Except there may be a screw somewhere inside…

    How did you determine which switch was bad?

    • @ApartmentMaintenancePro
      @ApartmentMaintenancePro  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This model, the door has some wiggle to it, push forward on the top or bottom until you pinpoint the switch

    • @JesseCaraballoOG
      @JesseCaraballoOG ปีที่แล้ว

      Surely there’s a better way to determine which switch it is. I can’t tell which one it is, the door doesn’t have any “wiggle” when it’s closed.
