Great video guys, but I have to critique one thing. Jordan says Tesla advertises that V13 will drive you to a supercharger stall and back in for you. Where have they done that? It's not actually an advertised feature yet. Sometimes it will do that, but it's not something it claims to do. People have just shown it doing it so people assume it's a fully supported feature. In fact, self parking on FSD is not an officially supported feature yet either, even though sometimes it does it. I think expectations are starting to get a little bit ahead of reality at this point due to all of the improvements Tesla has been making.
I wanted to correct you about something. The parking feature for FSD. Is not available yet. Fully. So technically it does park, sometimes They did not. Put the UI. In the software. So, you can choose what you wanted to do when it arrives. So right now, a randomly chooses if it is a stops. Or parks, etc. That's coming in a future release.
This version does not advertise that it can park itself at chargers. Parking is an upcoming feature. It is not specifically in this version designed to park correctly at your destination supercharger or elsewhere. Sometimes it will, sometimes it won't, and it isn't designed to in this version. There is no need to hit the brake to turn it on and off as that's just a checkbox that you can check or uncheck. When I get to my parking lot at work each morning, FSD completes in front of the front doors. Then I tell it to pick a parking spot using the auto park feature, and it parks itself. That's as it is currently designed. This version's breakthrough new features are to be smoother, to make better lane changes and lane decisions in prep for turns, to be able to start from a parking spot, and to be able to go in reverse when it gets into difficult situations when necessary. It also U turns much better than prior versions.
I’ve never seen it advertised in its current version that it auto parks to a supercharger stall. In future versions, I’ve seen it promised. At the 51 minute mark, your navigation was completed and automatically put itself in park, which is why you couldn’t move forward Also more Jess, it was nice to see a new perspective.
I think one of the things you can report in the app for Superchargers now is issues with navigation directing to the site. So, you should do that and see if Tesla fixes it.
13.2.2 doesn't have parking yet per the notes. You need to park or break it out and select a stall via auto park. It will try to park but a robot taxi won't need to park
Thank you. The entire video I was cursing at the guy on my screen. 😂 All you need to do is get out of FSD and select a parking spot on the screen. The car parks perfectly every time.
@@alex135789 Very interesting that it has auto-parked at 3 superchargers so far though. I definitely misread the notes on that, but the fact it auto parked at a charging stall at the very first stop made me think it must be a thing
I've been loving FSD for my regular trip from Tucson to LA and back. The only issue I have is at night when I'm the only car on the road it'll say "side camera blocked, FSD degraded" just because there isn't enough light. If I'm in FSD, it'll keep working, but if I have to disengage for any reason, I won't be able to reengage (sometimes for MILES) until there's a car on my side to shine enough light around me. Kinda frustrating. FWIW, I think the v13 autopark needs work as well. It's flawless when I disengage, spots show up on screen, and I pick one. But, I've had it even pull in front first to a supercharger when I let it park itself 🤣.
For what it's worth, I've found that the ability to toggle back and forth between the display for % of charge remaining vs. miles remaining, just tap it. This makes it easy to compare with the _distance_ to your next charging stop. Apples to apples allows increased confidence. Two things about FSD 13.2.2 - 1. None of the versions have ever recognized handicap only parking. 2. Even this version still does not handle _diagonal_ parking, which is what the diagonal stripes marking out the handicap wheelchair loading zone looked like. Confusion!
The parking at destination isn’t actually complete yet, but you can tell that it’s in the programming because it tries to do it sometimes even now. Auto park without driver input at destination is set to come out in a later point release, I’m sure it will be better when that’s official. It is fun to see what it will do though. 😂
I’m not sure that’s true that’s it’s not included. When navigating to a charger, it auto parks for me without selecting a spot. I don’t know what else this would be doing if it’s not auto parking (it pulls in and backs up to a stall…..though it kept trying to park in the handicap stall)
@ it’s listed as an upcoming feature, not current. It also doesn’t consistently park or always park correctly at the destination. It’s definitely not completed yet. As I said, you can tell that it’s in the works because it does park or attempt to park in some situations.
@@dRaddddIt isn't included, that's just emergent behavior. That is literally in the release notes as an upcoming feature. Yes, mine also sometimes parks at a supercharger spot, but sometimes it just pulls up near them.
Jess is so cool. You guys seem well suited. It was a very interesting video because I’ve only seen videos from really built up areas until now. I wonder what it will be like when it eventually comes to the UK?
Great wrap up summary of where things are at. Always fun to see another person on the road trip! Also loved the editing on this, the long timelapse segments were great
I set my Supercharging filter to version 3 only, so as to eliminate version 2 Supercharger. If there is an issue you can always edit your charge stops.
You really don't save any money using an EV for long trips when compared to a similar ICE vehicle, and you have to spend more time charging. It is a good reason for a multicar household to have an EV for daily trips and an ICE for long trips. It's also why I'm so disappointed vehicles like the Chevy Volt were discontinued, they were the perfect combination of EV power for around town and 50mpg hybrid ICE for long trips. I miss my Volt, real shame there aren't more series hybrids/EVs with gasoline range extenders. I remember only filling up 1 time in 9 months in my Volt.
You guys really don't appreciate how cheap gas really is in the US. I live in Europe and the same trip in an EV is 1.5x to even 2x cheaper than ICE. Honestly though even if it's the same price I'd still say it's worth it because of all the savings on daily trips.
I live in Wisconsin and own a Model Y Performance and a Model 3 RWD. There’s not a lot in my town. I’m about 45 minutes from Madison and I see a decent amount there. With our direct to consumer laws in Wisconsin, I have to drive to Chicago, IL to pick up new Teslas.
Hello. I'm from the Kc area. I recently purchased a used 21 Model Y LR this June and in September took it to Colorado Springs (Pikes Peak) and back. You won't find many Ev's in the city its self, you''ll see them much more in the suburbs on the Ks side (Johnson County). It cost me more to drive to Colorado Springs with 5 stops vs coming back to Kc with 4 stops. It was also my first "long" road trip and going to Colorado I wanted to charge more but coming back I was more used the how it worked (charging that is)
Perhaps the vehicle chose the right option of picking the V2 because theoretically it also knew the speed wouldn't be different because you weren't deep in the pack and it chose being courteous to other drivers who might arrive shortly after you and need a V3.
Okay Jordan. You must admit, with FSD now, it's much better than it's first iteration. We are close to full autonomy. Jess is sooo cute. Please include her with more videos. Would be nice for her to be part of the OOS team!!
49:20 There is a shared left turn lane. FSD uses that lane to merge. There was a gap from the left side, thus FSD would have moved into the shared center lane and then merged.
It would be helpful if Out Of Spec could do a state of ADS 2025 overview video. I don't know if Telsa releases data on FSD subscriptions and usage but clearly it's the most capable. But are ppl using it? I've been confused why Lucid with all its hardware has de-prioritized driver assist so much...an absolute deal killer for me as are mapped highway only systems. Is Lucid really going to fix that anytime soon? If Musk succeeds in getting the NHTSA to ease up, what 2nd place manufacturer is best positioned to capture market share? Hyundai or will Supercruise/Bluecruise become available on most roads?? You guys seem to have the manufacturer contacts... what are you hearing? Thanks for all your infotainment videos!
Lucid is making huge net losses, like unfathomably large, last quote I've seen was from Q2 and it came up as -$328,000 per vehicle sold. Making a competitive ADAS requires a lot of work and money, so I guess Lucid thought it wasn't a priority, as they're losing enough money as is
I live in Overland Park, KS and I agree that Chicago doesn't seem like the Midwest like KC and Denver do. Also you said you didn't see many EVs in KC. Living on the KS side I see many more EVs than I do on the MO side where you two were. I think Johnson County KS has a lot of EVs for a county/state that doesn't have any EV incentives.
I have the exact same car as you, Jordan, including white interior. I traded in my 2023 RWD for this one. You’re right in that it’s next level; the car rides significantly quieter and smoother. I used to have a 2015 Lexus ES350 and the refreshed M3 rides similar. But with better tech of course!! I had the opportunity to use the FSD on a short road trip earlier this week and it’s impressive. The automatic lane changes are perfection and it’s nice to not have to touch the wheel at all.
19:02 I wonder for that first stop, if the V2 was the better charger because as you said charging would be capped due to your s.o.c. So the V3 would be a misuse and take up a stall for someone at a lower s.o.c.
I live in Kansas City. Have a cabin in Pine, Colo. Would love you to do a FSD to the bucksnort saloon. 15921 S Elk Creek Rd, Pine, CO 80470. That’s the area my cabin is at. Would love to see how it handles that road. It’s unpaved with no lane markings. Very curvy and technical. I think it would be a good test route for your cars. Thanks Jordan and hope you had a great time in KC!
You want to arrive with a high charge level at your destination so that you don't have to charge immediately before you leave. Tesla's don't have manual preconditioning so going to a nearby Supercharger sucks, you always want to go to one that's far enough away so that there is time to precondition the battery. We spent New Year's in Portland Maine. We picked up takeout Dim Sum and then went to the Portland Supercharger which is less than a mile from the restaurant. The charging speed was awful, around 60KW because the temperature was chilly and you can't do much preconditioning in .7 mile. In our case the slow speed was a plus because we were eating our Dim Sum and it gave us enough time to finish. But unless you are doing what we were, eating a meal, you want to splash and dash so always arrive with enough juice so that you can drive an hour before the first Supercharger stop.
LOL similar issue with Hyundai... no manual, although I can leave the car in park 'navigating' to the charger to get some heat in the battery but practically can only due this at home in the garage (the Hyundai has 2 yrs of free charging, so cheaper to pop over to a local super charger).
@@jamesa4289@jamesa4289 Free charging isn't cheap unless you value your time at 0. You only get so many minutes on this earth and you can't buy more. One of best benefits of owning an EV is that you waste less of your precious life tending to the needs of your car. Not having to drive to a gas station is 10 to 15 hours a year that you get back. That's worth way more then the few dollars you save on your electric bill.
Model Y owner in the midwest, Rural WI, FSD v13 has been really good. Similar experience to you. Parking is unreliable, but actual driving is great. My biggest concern is when it pulls out in traffic, I doesn't accelerate as much as I'd like it to, and speed limits are weird (i'd like it to just go 5 over, but that seems to be a challenge at the moment). Can you submit requests where the car has the wrong speed limit (especially unmarked roads)?
Question. Road trip you have to keep eyes on the road. Do you feel bored, and easy to fall sleep since you don’t do anything. And if not. How you keep yourself awake?
The self-park when reaching destination isn't technically a feature yet, but it will still try to do it sometimes lol. Will be interesting to see how good or bad it is when it's formally introduced in an update
As someone who is from Kansas City Missouri I used to go Whitewater rafting in Colorado every spring and driving across Kansas is the most boring drive in the United States.
I had a Red Tiger. The battery immediately died after like 2 uses and I sent it back, they promised a replacement, didn't send one. They claimed they had, although couldn't provide a tracking reference. I had to request a non-provision of goods through my credit card provider to get my money back.
Would it be possible on your first charging stop the car knew you didn’t even need a charge or you just needed it a little for the restroom break, so it pulled you to a V2 on purpose? To have V3 available for other cars that have real need?
Having put around 700k miles in gen3 and 4 Prius’s and spending 32k miles in a gen5 the last year before trading it in on your cars twin I can say you are right about the cost comparison. On cross country trips with supercharging it will cost about the same as the awd gen5 Prius. Slightly more than the FWD version but the M3 is more comfortable, more relaxing and quieter.
No issues driving into the sun?? Ford's Blue Cruise hates that, at least in my Mach-E. (I do recognize and concede that the two systems are very different in terms of basic capability.)
You can change the setting from the car that you don't need to press brake to start, so only long button press needed. Parking is not official feature yet, that's why it does it sometimes.
Totally. After a barrage of lawsuits, crashes, and deaths (particularly from the early Autopilot days) of driver inattentiveness/over-reliance in the early days you can see why they now require such high driver attentiveness. Arguably now they are in a difficult middle phase where people trust the system so much and want to switch off, yet they still need to get people to pay attention. I bet the other systems that let you look away for 30 seconds would likewise change if they had the same regulator pressure on them
@adamsearle7217 Everyone sues everyone, in the U.S. It's highly deceptive to mention that like it means something. The only thing that matters is if you won. We know they did not win. Again, it is a driver ASSIST system. If YOU crash, YOU crashed. No one seems to have a problem understanding these things with any legacy automakers. Why do people act like they don't understand, when it comes to Tesla. Also, early days was using Mobileye's solution (not that it takes responsibility away from the driver not paying attention). Apply logic and rules EQUALLY, people.
I, also, bet you didn't get to know how many accidents Ford F150 Lightning occured. I am sure you never stopped to think why that might be (or how many had their ADAS product). The power of media to push a narrative, to those that do not research, is great. 😉
18:57 as you said, the battery was the limiting factor in this case, not the charger given your 65% starting point, so FSD chose the correct charger to use.
You should do more "completely new to..." newbie moments. Last spring, my wife and I bought our first EV, an old Leaf, and also just for the Tesla experience, rented a Model 3LR and drove it for a vacation from Longmont to Harrisburg, PA, visiting family. This is hard to admit. As an EV enthusiast and follower of Out of Spec and several other EV channels, I learned all about road tripping, charge curves, charger hipping, etc. But somehow I totally missed how to charge. That is, I didn't know about the button on the Supercharger handle. The whole week I either just tapped the handle on the door, or used the app, or the car screen. Embarrassing in retrospect, a new cyber truck owner at a supercharger asked me how to do it, and I passed on my ignorance. So, I really appreciate the little newbie moments.
See my only issue having my electric car (R1S) is finding food I can eat that isn’t just a bag of chips and a soda since I am a Muslim. Otherwise, I love my EV. Good Video.
Question? Could the slight difference in energy efficiency be due to v13 itself. V13 highlights its x5 more processing for certain things and x4 more processing for other tasks. Is there a way to measure software drain as the software increases in run time? M3PHighland with FSD

She is a nice addition as she is gives off a happy vibe
You can turn off the requirement to touch the brake pedal to initiate FSD. It's a very different experience without the brake.
53:30 Possible unpopular opinion here but I think the traction from snow tires more important than awd for most cars
I agree. Traction is not the real problem in snow conditions. it's stopping/braking. so the snow tires are really important.

@ 11 :27 th rumble strips are a great wake up call “ hey would unlike coffee an donughtsbw/that wake up call?? Ha
I’ve had the same issue. It doesn’t know where the chargers are 😅 With other Teslas charging at them and the GPS being so good, it’s kinda silly…
Question. Road trip you have to keep eyes on the road. Do you feel bored, and easy to fall sleep since you don’t do anything. And if not. How you keep yourself awake?
I would just watch the crazy human drivers 😂 or enjoy the view
Thanks!
FSD has made me travel more because I feel like someone is just driving me around.
What can be more relaxing than FSD what would you take FSD or massaging seats ..
I had a Red Tiger. The battery immediately died after like 2 uses and I sent it back, they promised a replacement, didn't send one. They claimed they had, although couldn't provide a tracking reference. I had to request a non-provision of goods through my credit card provider to get my money back.
Jordan and Jess the video was great.
@17:00 I'd call that typical Tesla Supercharger parking. I'm always amazed at how many people can't back in centered or straight.
Jordan w the james coffee hat 👏🏼👏🏼
You should do a hogback challenge with the new model 3 FSD version basically the one that you're on right now I think it would do really good
Would it be possible on your first charging stop the car knew you didn’t even need a charge or you just needed it a little for the restroom break, so it pulled you to a V2 on purpose? To have V3 available for other cars that have real need?
Having put around 700k miles in gen3 and 4 Prius’s and spending 32k miles in a gen5 the last year before trading it in on your cars twin I can say you are right about the cost comparison. On cross country trips with supercharging it will cost about the same as the awd gen5 Prius. Slightly more than the FWD version but the M3 is more comfortable, more relaxing and quieter.
This girl is gooood :)
No issues driving into the sun?? Ford's Blue Cruise hates that, at least in my Mach-E.
(I do recognize and concede that the two systems are very different in terms of basic capability.)
Just put an old iPhone on a mount for outward and inward shots and the audio will be much better (it really wasn't that bad)
would b cool if u had a intervention counter in the corner of the vid to count the times you had to intervene
The frequency of nags are the only real flaw of current FSD
You can change the setting from the car that you don't need to press brake to start, so only long button press needed. Parking is not official feature yet, that's why it does it sometimes.
I want to hear more from Jess on the return trip. We don’t hear enough from females on EVs and FSD.
FRANCIE was the BBBEST
@ Isaiah appears to be her replacement and he is doing a good job. However, if Francie pops up on another channel, I will tune-in if good topics.
You can blame National Traffic authority for making Tesla add ever increasing alert nagging. They weren't exactly behaving fairly (of course).
Jess is right. If I used FSD on the highway for too long, I would be out, and the car would be on its own.
Parking is still hit and miss, especially at superchargers. The release notes do not claim it can park yet.
It's not quite "Full Self Driving", eh. It worked except for ....
The proper technical term is bladder range.
Great Video guys!! You do good work together :)
46:10 Can you ad the Wh/km in your Overley ? :)
So simple: XX Wh/mi : 1.609 = Wh/km = eg. 275 Wh/mi : 1.609= 170.91Wh/km
See my only issue having my electric car (R1S) is finding food I can eat that isn’t just a bag of chips and a soda since I am a Muslim. Otherwise, I love my EV. Good Video.
V15 will be the realization of the dream. An informative and engaging video. Take Jess everywhere. 😅
That’s what everyone has said about every revision of FSD for like 3 years.
@ true but the switch to visual and AI training has levelled up the tech to the point where it can happen.
Question?
Could the slight difference in energy efficiency be due to v13 itself. V13 highlights its x5 more processing for certain things and x4 more processing for other tasks. Is there a way to measure software drain as the software increases in run time?
