Once you have the MMT grade, is there also a standard treatment that goes along with the muscle grades? IE: you should normally start with PROM for a grade 1, etc?

Thank you for supporting our channel. To answer your question there is no specific protocol that follows a specific muscle testing score, but there is a general progression of strengthening. Generally when patients have difficulty contracting a muscle you start with isometric strength exercises, with increased strength you can transition into movements in a gravity eliminated position (as determined by the particular muscle and plane of movement). From there a patient begins moving against gravity (requires minimum strength of 3/5) with progression to resisted anti-gravity exercises. We hope that is helpful and best of luck!

Unfortunately it is our policy not to make specific recommendations regarding treatment without a proper evaluation of the patient. We hope you understand and thank you for watching.

As a general principle you perform manual muscle testing to identify muscle groups that are impaired. That information must then be used in the context of the overall status of the person and their injury/illness to identify a level of exercise that is appropriate. The manual test results should not be the only factor considered when choosing the proper exercise. Once all information has been gathered then appropriate exercises are identified. We hope that is helpful and thanks for watching our videos.
