This song casually played the other day and it's been on repeat ever since. It describes perfectly the feeling of being in a one-sided relationship, putting all your effort into somebody you love, no matter what it takes, for them just to not appreciate it. It's only after the break-up that you realize that it doesn't matter how much more you could have done, if it wasn't you from the beginning, it was never going to be you in the end. They'd always find something to complain about or some flaw to pick apart, so you think maybe you are the problem, maybe you are lacking somewhere. Truth is you'll really never be good enough for somebody that doesn't know how to value you for who you are. This spoke to me so much and made me feel seen after experiencing this feeling in my last relationship. Thank you for making such great music Lexi.

I saw this on the KCRW Eclectic 24 playlist. A song called “Newbury Park” spelled correctly (not Newberry). I had to check it out. It’s awesome!
I grew up in N.P. also. I graduated from NPHS in ‘89 so I am trying to figure out if I know the parents of the kid who broke her heart. lol

This song makes me feel less alone about how I felt during my last relationship. This kind of one sided love causes deep pain that your partner either doesn't see or doesn't care about. To be unseen and uncared for, especially for a long time, can really break a person down. I could sense that I was losing myself, and truthfully, I was. Once I let him go, I realized that my true self was always there, waiting for him to love me back the same way, but there was no point in loving someone incapable of accepting that love. Loving him was hard, as the song says, but the hardest part for me was learning to love myself enough to fall out of love with someone not meant for me.
