This is genius...you are very creative...I need to protect one of my windows from rain so bad but the price of awnings is ridiculous...Thank you so much for posting this...I would add a bolt with a simple wingnut in the middle of each awning to keep it nice and secure.
I just added two window awnings based on the idea from this video, mainly to protect the window A/C unit and help with water leak issues. I watched many videos on how to add window awnings but found this video to be the simplest and yet very functional and look good. However, I chose to use the multiwall polycarbonate roof panels instead of pvc plastic panels. PVC plastic panels just look very fragile and comes with no warranties. Also I need a 3 ft wide panel to cover the window and PVC plastic panels are only 2.2 ft wide. Of course you can lay it side ways like what this video shows but I just thought i might look a little funny with the waves being horizontal. The multiwall polycarbonate panels come as 4x8 and flat. I can cut it to 4 2x3 pieces and still have some left over. It also comes with a three-year warranty. Thanks for sharing!
This is called CORRUGATED PLASTIC. IT also comes in metal or Lexan Polycarbonate. They also sell a wood support that is cut in a wavy pattern for good support underneath.
Outstanding! Thanks! For an economical and practical construction of a window awning, this is the best video I’ve seen.
