you know, I've played this game when it launched and re-visited it many times over the course of like, 12, 13 years... and I've NEVER seen Isaac have a fall animation with gravity. God I love speedruns.
If this really gets rebooted , i hope they stick to the atmosphere of the first 2 . Best horror games for me hands down . Love space , love good horror !
Dead space 1 and resident evil 2 are the only horror games where I was on my toes the entire time. Mostly because I had no ammo for the whole game. I'm sure alot of that was due to my highly terrible play, but God damn the combo of no health and no ammo for hours on end plus all the jump scares and overall dread of knowing something worse is around every corner is peak horror
@@gerald216 I loved doom 3 for similar reasons, i think doom 3 is an amazing horror game despite it being disliked by long time fans of the first two doom games, it's just a different style and it does it's own style very well
This is such a great game. After like 13 years I think I still remember the combination to refill your stasis in the pause menu :D (triangle, square, triangle, triangle, square, triangle)
Dead space lore was soooo good! Ds1 and 2 audio/text logs and dead space martyr kept me hooked for years. Too bad ds3 and EA had to ruin it all, im really worried about the ds1 remake
I feel like speed runs are basically anti-reaction videos. This game is supposed to be scare as all heck which tense moments and jump scares. But after playing it a million times as fast as possible you get stuff like "that corpse is supposed to be used for a shadow effect but if you get down here fast enough you can see it" lol I love speed runs.
im a a cool headed gamer but when i got to that asteroid section on console playing on the hard difficulty i wanted to throw the controller. took me 2 afternoons
6:40 - embarrassed to say that that's as far through the game as I got through deadspace before I had to nope out. Watching a speedrun makes it far less scary.
I've played DS 1 off and on throughout the years, and never once did I ever realize you could fly towards the sides of the wall during the meteorite portion of the third chapter. I always thought you just had to book it across the path while hiding behind those select blockades. Great speed-run, of course, very interesting to see how this slow-driven third-person horror title can be completely broken.
when i was in high school in the 2010s, i had a ps2, gamecube, and a gameboy advance. that was the extent of my video game access. we couldn't afford a ps3 or 360 or wii. but then one day a friend of my mom was selling a 360 and 40+ games for $200 so she bought it for us. finally i got to play all the games i'd read about from afar in gaming magazines since 2005- bioshock, fallout 3, half life 2, oblivion, mass effect, halo, assassin's creed, left 4 dead, i had access to all of these games i'd loved from afar for so long. but the first one i touched was dead space, then immediately afterwards dead space 2. i beat both games before i ever even looked at the orange box. ever since then, they've been my favorite games of all time (behind resident evil 4 and new vegas of course). through them i found out about let's plays and challenge runs and speedruns and long story short now i'm here. GDQ has been where i find runners to follow on twitch and so through GDQ is most of my speedrun knowledge. because of that, i haven't really seen a dead space speedrun in years [i've mostly gravitated towards resident evil, silent hill, and dark souls]. and now i gotta say that oh my god it's so different. this is one of the coolest runs i think i've ever seen. all this tech is completely foreign to me, and it's filling me with the same feeling i had playing the game myself for the first time. thank you so much GDQ for letting dead space get submitted, and gg looney
Holy fuck, I never knew that. Literally just beat it for the 4th time again like 2 months ago, now working on the 2nd game. This just made me love them so much more, excited for the remaster
im more impressed with being able to actually get k+m controls to perform well. For the life of me i could not get the configs to work so i use a controller
Dead Space, what an awesome game. I can still remember playing it first time at the dorm. Too bad the series went downhill on the third game and killed the IP.
Yeesh the run just started and my mind has been blown. I've never seen dead space played in this way. I'm curious as to what other tricks this run will have
Huh, never knew that there was an actual falling animation programmed into the game. Is there any way to trigger it without bugs? I don't recall ever seeing it.
It runs just fine on Win10. Use the mouse fix, disable in-game Vsync, and enable Vsync + 3x buffering through NVIDIA or the equivalent for AMD, and you're good to go.
1:18:42 what‘s with the girl’s voice in the background while in the void? Sounds like their singing or chanting very quietly. Is it just an atmospheric sound effect, or something else?
Amazing run Looney! Dead Space 2 was on GDQ last night and that was amazing as well. Oh yea guys, I just found out we're getting a Dead Space remake later this year! Awesome!!!!!
You know as someone who cant stand livestreams and mostly watches vods the online format is infinitely more viewable getting almost straight into the games with no real setup time is nice from a viewing perspective but I can see how in person is better community wise
anybody knows how he managed to get dead space with the mouse working without lag? i've tried lots of things but it doesnt seem to help. any suggestion?
the most surprising part of this is Isaac has a falling animation??? i had no clue in this game with no jumping outside of zero g that you even had a falling animation
Dead Space is a fantastic horror game, I did not realise it was such a good precision platformer game too. What a great run, I should look up a DS2 run to see how that one plays. Weird that one of the commentators referenced a 'Dead Space 3' though. Extraction's more of a prequel if anything, I wouldn't call it 'DS3'.
1:31:45 Isaac doesn't look an awful long time at the panels, he watches the Nicole video from the intro but turns it off eventually. But since you've deleted most videos for speed running purposes, you also deleted this video.
Runner introduction starts at 1:30
Run starts at 1:52

Honestly surprised you never fell through the floor before, when I saw he actually falls I was just like "Huh, neat" then I died lol
Yeah. Iirc, nowhere can you normally just fall so the fact there’s one in the first place is surprising.
Dead Space 1 is so great.

Yes. I also love the UI of this game! 100/100

13 years already?! God, time sure does fly...
Best game featured this year, now we need Dead Space 2 and 3 to follow!
Dead space 2 is a perfect sequel but Deadspace 3 is cod zombies in space but in a not cool way.

This was so amazing!! Can’t believe they’ve chopped off so much time in a year! Great job to all involved!
This game was my first platinum trophy, and the next scariest game I ever played after RE4. Loving this run, thanks

It reaction-able to see stuff u don't see and use in your normal gameplay.
I really miss the crowd interaction from GDQ, one of my favorite aspects. I am glad they did the responsible thing and hold the event remotely.
im a a cool headed gamer but when i got to that asteroid section on console playing on the hard difficulty i wanted to throw the controller. took me 2 afternoons
I was unaware that Dead Space had fall animation…. And I’ve been playing it since 2009… wow! Lol
One of my favourite games and runs ever. Great work LivingLooneyBin!
One of the best speed runs in years.
Damn this was a fantastic speedrun, the commentary was pretty funny aswell.
Thank you LivingLooneyBin for making us hole again!
this was amazing and hilarious. thanks Looney and commentators, incredibly enjoyable to watch
6:40 - embarrassed to say that that's as far through the game as I got through deadspace before I had to nope out. Watching a speedrun makes it far less scary.
Is not embarrassing man, DS is that good
give it a try! It still lives up to those glory days and now that you've seen the scary parts (well, some of them) you can enjoy it again :)
I agree, you should try again! And then you get the pleasure of playing Dead Space 2 after, which is just an absolute masterpiece.
That final boss fight almost gave me a heart attack. The fear, the anticipation.
Dead space speed runs when from a John Wick simulator to Dead Space Pinball

2008 was such a great year for video games. Hard to believe there are kids in high school younger than this game.
great run, great game and great commentary! thanks for running and we need DS2 up here too XD
1:27:57 This quote right here gets me everytime. Waifu's commentary is pure gold.
That was a very fun run!
Never knew about pulse boosting, awesome stuff
Such an amazing game, and the run was amazing!
I love how he apologizes to the devs. That's the kind of thing I would say if I had the talent to speedrun.

it literally became a metroid prime speedrun lmao this is awesome
More Deadspace please. Love this game and this run was so entertaining. Well done!
One of the first horror games I ever played. And still one of the best ever made imo
When I found out the chapter titles spell out Nicole is Dead, I nearly shat myself.

Dead Space is finally in GDQ!
"Arthur Asimov" I understood that reference!
"gonna kill these necromorphs and then i'm gonna grab this table"
just speedrunning things
I've been waiting to see dead space on agdq
Dead Space, what an awesome game. I can still remember playing it first time at the dorm.
Too bad the series went downhill on the third game and killed the IP.

Probably my favorite run of this SGDQ! Also kinda snickering at the Among Us parallels
The first horror game I played. Loves this series!

So good to see some variety of the games coming to GDQ
This run's Isaac is more powerful and cursed then all the Brethren Moons combined. They fear him for they cannot understand him... or follow him.
So hyped for the remake🙌
The truly miraculous thing about this speedrun is that they got Dead Space running on a PC.

Oh snap its LOONEY YOU READY TO MAX?
So well done

And in VR!
The Calisto Protocol hype
When the ai knows how to true combo. Feels bad

Most surprising thing in the run was when he maxed out kinesis range.

have games REALLY gotten better since this?

a few of them do! the big skips in ch9 and ch10 work, and some pulse boosts are still possible, as well as a few other tricks
NICOLE IS DEAD
How do people find these glitches?

The pulse rifle really has the highest dps? It doesn't feel like it when I play trying to take off limbs
It's definitely not a platformer but yea 🤔
