SweptAway529: Great minds think alike. This song is better than "Self Control" yet "Self Control" got tons of airplay and is the song for which Laura will always be remembered.
@@psychcorp4449 Self Control was huge, but so was Gloria - so perhaps the two most noteworthy tracks for her. It's crazy for me to say this, I do now own this soundtrack on vinyl. All the songs in this album is very interesting, unlike all the crappier music they play nowadays. Records are slowly making a comeback.
ojcorn89 I was in third grade when Flashdance came out and the soundtrack was the very first record album I bought in my life with my own money. Wish I still had that album even though it would probably be too scratched up to play now.
Made me wish I lived near Mawby's! Would have been there every night to watch this stuff! "Imagination" has always been my favorite scene and song from the movie. I actually have an old TV antenna just like the one in the scene.
I went to the 7 o’clock showing. I stayed thru the credits at the end of the movie. I was so memorized, I stayed in my seat for the next showing. ( you could do stuff like that back then.) Plus, the strobe light in the full theater was AMAZING!!
I hear the amazing guitar riff because she air guitars to it in her dance.. Also notice the kabuki style, the flash and her shadow, dancing. Thanks for posting this video.
Hell of a movie. Top notch soundtrack and choreography. I was living in Pittsburgh when this was filmed. The actual French dancer was fabulous. I met her at Gimbel’s or Kaufman’s Department Store. Laura Branigan was the best vocalist for this movie.

I like this part up to those flashing lights. They're migraine inducing, which is such a shame because it would look so cool for those who don't suffer from these types of headaches. I can imagine that looking pretty cool in a theater. They light up my entire living room when I watch the film.
@@mireyavergara287 no, it was Marine Jahan doing the majority of the dancing. A man was used in the final number only to do the acrobatic and hip hop parts of the number.
Yes, but they did try to hide it with the white make-up. Which almost could have worked if they'd had the exact same body type, but they really didn't.
i watched this movie back home in europe in 1983.I was 16. I remember literally being frozen to my seat as i watched this scene. It was , and is , the most intense movie experience i ve had. This film changed so many lives
As much as it's artistically creative about this scene, there's something unsettlingly creepy about it as well. I don't know. Perhaps it reminds me of 80s underrated horror movies like FRIGHT NIGHT and VAMP where they had all those typical 80s music in them and then at the end of it something awfully bad was going to happen.
Lyrics: Laura Branigan - Imagination He says that he can read my mind The power to turn iron into gold She says she's seen the other side And knows the place the fire burns all night There is an answer to the question So long ago down below It's a hard real life, every day Once you have it, it never goes away It's in the pocket, when you're really really lucky When your fantasy becomes reality Living inside your imagination It's in the pocket, when you're really really lucky When your fantasy becomes reality Living inside your imagination Your magic of the secret door I can take you down and show you more It's easy, once you know the way It's farther than the closest thing you are You've got to walk right through that fire It will not burn you And the once you may love Only life won't make it Or just burn away It's in the pocket, when you're really really lucky When your fantasy becomes reality Living inside your imagination It's in the pocket, when you're really really lucky When your fantasy becomes reality Living inside your imagination You've got to walk right through that fire It will not burn you And the once you may love Only life won't make it Or just burn away Imagination…

One of the most creative dance movies of all time in a classic it’s own. So original authentic and a time capsule into 80s pop culture

It's a hard real life, every day
Once you have it, it never goes away
It's in the pocket, when you're really really lucky
When your fantasy becomes reality
Living inside your imagination
It's in the pocket, when you're really really lucky
When your fantasy becomes reality
Living inside your imagination
Your magic of the secret door
I can take you down and show you more
It's easy, once you know the way
It's farther than the closest thing you are
You've got to walk right through that fire
It will not burn you
And the once you may love
Only life won't make it
Or just burn away
It's in the pocket, when you're really really lucky
When your fantasy becomes reality
Living inside your imagination
It's in the pocket, when you're really really lucky
When your fantasy becomes reality
Living inside your imagination
You've got to walk right through that fire
It will not burn you
And the once you may love
Only life won't make it
Or just burn away
Imagination…
