Robin, your video quality has improved to much since you first started posting these HIS videos. I'm very impressed. Your photos are great, as always. Cheers, Paul.
Your movements are natural. You don't seem to be intrusive. You're capturing what you see and you make it look very natural. No one seems to mind. It's great. Beautiful images.
Always a pleasure to watch. I need to build up my confidence and my gut to approach people like you do. I enjoy the human interactive part of both your videos and photos. LA welcomes you.
It's great how you shoot. A great opportunity to travel with you and be a streetphotographer at your side. You always manage to get me looking for situations to capture. Nice to see your pictures while walking. Great pictures too, I like your style. Keep up !
Brilliant episode! Some of those photos are really wonderful. Love the hand with the missing nails especially. Great proximity and attention to gestures and emotion.
I don’t get it! How do you manage to get so close to people and get the camera up in their face when it seems like the prime time for them to look at you and get weirded out by it? I am very amazed to say the least, and the photographs were beautiful! You’re one of the street photographers I look up to Sir, keep the great content coming! :D
Lovely shots and edit as usual! I'm the one who suggested to add some more street ambient to your mix, and I have to say that I really think the streets come more to life in this edit! Great result with the chill music! Hopefully others will give their opinions aswell! Can't wait for the next one!
the_real_sir_robin I just hope you liked it too, so you're not feeling pressured to make something you don't like yourself! Because I just want more videos in the future;)
Great images, many thanks. I note you are varying the aperture, and it looks like you are largely shooting from the "chest" rather than up to your eye. Are you zone focusing or using auto focus? Your F1.7 shots are fantastic, I think I'd find it hard to take those, in focus, from the chest.
wow, amazing video, i just watched a couple of your videos and I have to say there is potential in this chanel. lot of production, subscribed indeed, greetings from Argentina
You always shoot street at f1.7 with the Q ? Were all the photos taken with your eye to the EVF, or were you using live view focus and release sometimes ?
This is beautiful. I'm gonna rewatch this and scroll through your channel when I have the time. May I just ask what lens are you using on your Leica Q? 35mm?
Are you bringing the camera up to your eye when you take the photo? Can’t tell, that’s the moment that is tough for me since it makes it so obvious I’m taking a picture if I’m at close to Them!
Not sure if you take requests but I'm going to try my luck anyway :D Can we see a night photography on a saturated film like ektar. Maybe something that has the colours of Ektar and more speed. And thanks for this video Robin. Just like the other ones, this too was highly enjoyable and informative
Thanks for your input Adi! There are not many options when it comes to high sensitivity films. However, there will be more episodes shot at night coming in the not so distant future. 👌☺️
Man, you've got some really nice documentary style, I like it a lot. Do you use AF or manual focus? I don't know if Leica uses fly-by-wire manual focus, but with my Fuji it's a pain in the ass) anyway, thumbs up, keep the documentary goodness flowing&more of XPAN videos, pls!)
Thank you sir robin ;-) Looks like the AF works fine on the Q then. Considering to get a used Q for street photography myself... Normally I zone focus with the Ricoh GR or Fuji x-e3. Would be nice to have an AF that actually works for fast street photography... Take care.
So many pearls! Very good. But hey, what do you do/say when someone says "No, no, no, no! No picture"? :-) You are very courageous in you great approach method :-)
I really dig your editing style for your pictures, well done ! Also , could please make a video on how you edit your images and what programs you use , etc.... This would be a really interesting video, awesome thanks.
i keep seeing people do this go pro to video, does the go pro have that long of a battery life and memory to video constantly while you take photos like that?
@@therealsirrobin yeah i guess so, turn it on/record ahead of time when you know that you are gonna shoot some people. whats crazy to me is how seamless it all looks , just to have the fore sight to record then shoot. at least to me is pretty cool.
Really good video, Robin. Looks a vibrant and interesting town for street photography. I also have a Q and was struck by your cinematic filmlike edits. Any tips on your Lightroom process? By the way, I thought you got some excellent shots. Thanks for sharing. 👍
brilliant video putting that video cam with the camera showing us how you shoot. i am a beginner at photography, and i love shooting street photography, specially portraits that people staring right into the lens. however, i can't get over that feeling of awkwardness when people look at me taking photo of them, advice how to avoid that?
Thank you! 😊 There is no reason for feeling awkwardness for taking candid photos of strangers out on the streets. Just do it and stop caring about what others might think! ✌️👍
are you looking through the viewfinder? or are you shooting from the hip? Like your photos, unfortunatly i am not brave enough to shoot street photography. :(
Djavo23387 I wonderd too. When watching this and seeing Robin coming so close to peoples faces, I feel a great tension. I'm also not brave enough. The other day I finally had the courage to snap a picture, and this woman started to yell at me, that I had to delete the photo. Offcours I couldn't cause I shot analog :) but this experience certainly didnt help me get braver.
@Tom Polkamp i tried it too. it´s sometimes frustating to see all the possible motives passing by. May i ask you what camera you use. I am taking my olympus 35 rc (a nice little range finder) with me, when i "attempt" to shoot street photography. concerning robins pictures: i noticed that all pictures taken are on chest height (or Robin is really small :) ). so i just wantetd to know if he is zone focusing and taking a snap without framing or composing the image.
Not a film camera I always look through the viewfinder. In this case I simply used the rear screen. It is less obtrusive and quicker than using the vf.
how to shoot people for street photography without being creepy: Pretend you are taking a picture of something behind them by holding the shot Or smile and give them a wave or a light nod and not act like a creep
lol, I'm so embarrassed. It seems as though in many of the shots, you may be holding the camera at chest level (in some sort of super stealth mode). Are you looking through the viewfinder (lets say with your Leica M6) on most or all of your shots?!? I'm so inspired by your videos. You're so good!.... Is the Q still your favorite Digital at the moment?

That shot of the gentleman opening his window on the bus... is golden. Love that shot.
Thank you Carlos! Almost missed to film it. That's a downside of the GoPro it simply is that it takes at least two seconds to turn it on.
Robin, your video quality has improved to much since you first started posting these HIS videos. I'm very impressed. Your photos are great, as always. Cheers, Paul.
Thank you very much Paulie! 🙂
I keep returning to this video. A lot of inspiration here. Thank you!

I'm smiling every time you show resulting picture. So good!
Thank you very much! 👍
Out of all your videos this is still my favorite!
The colors in your images are out of this world.
love that Summilux glass - such nice color, everything just "pops" with lots of contrast - great choice of subject matter as well -!!
Brilliant captures. Thank you!!!! Loved it.
Thank you very much Michelle! 🙂
I really appreciate your generosity by sharing your work. It's very inspiring. Thank you. 👍
Nice to have you, and your videos, back!!
Tolles Video, macht großen Spaß mit Dir durch die Straßen zu laufen und zu sehen, wie Du die Momente mit Deiner Kamera einfängst!
Dankeschön Pia! 😊

another cool video! the quality of your youtube is always increasing :)
the Q looks like an amazing camera
Thank you very much. Always trying to improve. 😁
Fantastic work, I love how you fill the frame and your use of colour. Great video editing also.
Thank you Michael! 👌
Great video again, you are a brave man :D. I like the combination of the desaturated vintage look and the excellent sharpness of the Q.
Thank you very much Pierre! ✌️
Please make some more of this vids. I love watching your walkthrough. Your shots are really good.
Thank you very much Bec! A new video will be up every Friday! ☺️

Thank you very much! ☺️ I did a video on how to get close to people that should help understanding this works. 👌
@@therealsirrobin Do you have a BTS of you shooting on the streets? Like how you hang the camera and how you bring up to their faces.
I have videos where I had someone filming me. One of the early ones shot in France and one Xpan video shot in Korea.
He's shooting from the hip. It helps when you get very close to people.
No, I am not and I can't stand hip shooting.

Can you tell mecwhat focus made you used forv this video? Single or continuous? Face focus or some other
Amazing photos and moments. I . l like the way you take the photos

do you suggest this camera? a cheaper alternative does exist?
Wow... great shoots
Thanks for sharing. Do you use the Leica phone app when you are doing street photography? If yes, how’s your experience?
No, never use the app.
love the edits. and of course the photos
Thanks Ben! 👍
Are you bringing the camera up to your eye when you take the photo? Can’t tell, that’s the moment that is tough for me since it makes it so obvious I’m taking a picture if I’m at close to Them!

Großartige Aufnahmen, mich würde interessieren ob Du durch den Sucher schaust oder ob Du mit dem Touch Screen fokussierst.
great video and lovely shots as always sir! :)
Thank you very much Hanif! 👊
Are you taking these shots mostly through live view rather than the evf?
Fantastic images!

Well fucking done, man. I was expecting some shitty Leica owner cliche street images but the quality of your work blew my mind. Subscribed!

it's that official leica q picture? or there have a edit?
The pictures have been edited. Check out my video I uploaded last month where I show how I edit my photos.
What F stop do you normally use? Wide open?
I shoot from wide open to f16. In this case I was only shooting wide open.
In the video the lens looks like it was set to f/5.6?
Great street photo
Great video!
Thank you Asad! 😊
For me this is some of your best. You seem much closer to your subjects. I don’t know whether it is the Seychelles or the 28mm lens.
