We discuss Chicago’s storied history of organized labor and the state of the labor movement today with Alex Han, a longtime union organizer and now the executive director of the Chicago-based progressive magazine In These Times, and with Stacy Davis Gates, the current president of the Chicago Teachers Union, of which Chicago’s Mayor Brandon Johnson - who opened the 2024 DNC last night - was previously a member. As the Democratic Party increasingly embraces union rights as a major part of its policy platform, “It’s pretty remarkable to think of how far we’ve come. It’s also important, sitting here in Chicago, [to] understand how far we still have to go,” says Han.

Always glad to support Democracy Now. Unfortunately, Chicago is poorly run and in major debt. It would be good for the unions to unchain themselves from the Democratic Party and distance themselves from mayor Brandon Johnson completely.

You are wrong. The voters voted for Biden and Harris, not only Biden. Understandably there was no time left to go trough the same process again as Biden decided to step aside. The delegates are the ones who vote in favor or not for the ticket and they are now for Harris/Walz. And the reaction of the voters show they are happy with the change.

The root causes for inflation was the increase of the national debts by at least 28% or 8.4 trillions under mister Shitzhispantz and his mishandeling of pandemic. The third cause is the greed of the companies. That's a proven fact too.
