Love the story about building drag racing engines and playing Bach. A man after my own heart! Awesome!

Herb Reichert is the best! Love his writings, but listening to him speak may even be better. At the very least it adds a new dimension to his articles that would have been very difficult to glean otherwise. Very entertaining!

I just came across your SFAS vids, and they are all fantastically good. The interviews you’ve got are amazing and all the questions you ask are spot on. I’m a huge fan of Herb Reichert’s writings, forward thinking, mind, as well as the rest of the people you interview, so these vids are quite a treat. Can’t wait to watch the rest! Thank you very much! Edit: Herb is definitely a genius. What a truly brilliant mind and so many great quotes.

Herb proves that you don't have to spend a zillion dollars to enjoy our HiFi hobby. Interesting to note that most of his gear is on long term loan and not owned. I have often wondered about reviewers and their gear ---- do they actually own all that great stuff. Herb and Steve turned me on to First Watt Sit-3 and the Harbeth 30.2 and I couldn't be happier. Its all about the music at reasonable prices as most of us are not rich but want to spend our time with music that we can experience emotions of joy, sadness and wonderment. Great 2 hours of entertainment and insight!

The industry would be very well served with another dozen Herb Reicherts.

That sounds like too many Herb's to me. One original is perfect. All the others would be low resolution copies.

Hello, you really nailed it with the First Watt S I T3 review. It sounds exactly as you described it… and I bought one. Forever grateful.

Love the discussion on subtractive distortion. To me this is the single most critical element of natural sound. It also makes sense that the simple circuit with best components can most faithfully reproduce low level information. And it is this which can result in great natural sound.
I too often have debates with engineers who are convinced that low measured distortion is key and therefore tons of feedback is a good thing. They produce great measurements without producing engaging natural music.

We are going to see more people identifying as audiophiles coming forward now that people have seen and heard how many inexpensive alternatives in speakers we have. These type of youtube blogs are really helping spread to hobby beyond previously known.

My last comment didn't post. One year, my brother and I (both professional engineers) bought my dad a surround system for Christmas. Found some great 12" JBL subs at a pawn shop. Nice 4th order x-order. Tuned up well. One on either side of the couch, so the made a nice couple rihght there. They nulled in other areas, also great! Wend to Best Buy to check out surrounds. I forget the no name brand, but clear winner. My brother has run monitors on over 10,000 shows, and can call any frequency. Was great. Bought a Tannoy center speaker used, and needed some glue. Built panels to get rid of what the room gave us. The whole thing was

Just found this. Herb and Steve G. and Sean Fowler are my favorite reviewers. Herb and Steve are a blast to listen to because they are so knowledgeable. If you are not familiar with Sean, his TH-cam channel is Zero Fidelity. I have been listening to the same two rigs for 10 years but I have many options in case something happens due to these three men. 👍

For me (and others) i would like for you to take up a challenge, as i think this amp must be one of the most confusing ones of all time. I'm talking about the legendary Lavardin IT, and their patent on something they call for "memory free distortion", which is something in the circuit that removes distortion build up. I'm not at all an engineer, but i own the Pre/Mono combo, and has never heard a solid state sound like this? (it's good, it's really good). Some claims they got the best from solid state and tubes, in one amp. It came out in the late 90's, and got raving good reviews all over, but it's still a fairly well known secret, that they exist. Europeans are well aware of the brand, but in the US i think that there only is 1 distributor? It was of course measured at the time, and many couldn't get to terms with the lower distortion, regarding to other solid state amps, and i'm sure it has to do with the patent circuit "secret"? Cheers from Denmark

Herb looks great and doing a great job of dealing with the S. F. lot of Coggers. With the homeless pissing on the yards as they play records . this guy is going to review 4 pieces then has to talk about his Husband. So the man Herb has to drop a line about his girl friend

I have only listened to music without multi-tasking. To me It seems odd to do other things while listening. I am a prog keyboardist. I guess Im an audiophile even though I havent spent more than $900.00 on any one piece of gear. None of you are audiophiles unless you learn to play an instrument and understand that relationship first.
