  • Another great little tool to quiet down your hitch, bike rack or any hitch mounted accessory. Quiet's your hitch and locks as well.

    Thanks, Rick! Bike rack does rattle and I have to always tighten down that U clamp style damper every time I put it on as well as use a standard lock pin, so this will do both!

      It really does work well and worth the $31.95 :)

    Your intros always make me want to get a drone for some sick b-roll, but then I remember I already have way too much stuff going on to pick up another little hobby. Keep up the good work, Rick!

      Thank you bro! The drone is a blast for sure! I sure you can fit it in there somewhere. :)

    Rick, if I had a hitch I'd want to tie a red ragg or cloth or even an old red T shirt on the end so people would see it better whether walking near it or for cars behind to keep a safe distance.

      I've used a a paint stick to take up the gap or a weld bead ground down on the accessory.

    What I have done with mines is use a 5/8 bolt with stop nut and a 5/8 square nut with spring and tight it down no more rattle for me

    Hi. Nice video. What kind of double ended socket drive are you using in the video to tighten the anti rattle bolt?? Thanks

    I have a lock and use the plate with the U-bolt... Had not seen this option. Thank you for sharing. Which one do you prefer? I need to buy one more for the X5 and now, not sure if I buy the same one installed in the other cars or try this... again, in my case, all the cars have the pins with locks...

      I like them both honestly. The bolt version is nice because it locks, but it takes a bit longer to put on...both seems to work well in cutting down the noise! Thank you for watching.

    You demonstrated with the wrong order of washers. Make sure you use the flat washer on the black receiver and then the spilt washer on the silent bolt.

    Rick I’m getting ready to sell my 09 Jeep Patriot and pick up an 18 Crosstrek. Would you recommend the CVT over 6MT? I really do not care for CVT transmissions after the experience with this jeep. Also concerned about reliability in the long run.

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Johnathan that is a tough question for a few reasons. First, I have not driven the 6-speed as of yet so I do not have any real world experience with it and can only tell you what I have heard and read from reviewers. Second, the CVT has been great for me in my 14 Crosstrek, for 43K miles, and now the 18 for 6.5K miles, but others have had some issues. When I first starting driving the 14 it was a little weird, it was my first, but after a few months of driving it I got used to it. It seemed to adapt to my driving style overtime. Not sure if that actually happens, but it felt like it. The 14 was quite loud as well. The 18 has been really good for me with no real issues to report. Quiet and smooth.
      Others have had what is best described as a 'slow speed shudder'. According to Subaru it is "normal" cvt behavior as the computer is trying to figure out what the driver is trying to do, slow down or speed up kind of a thing. At least that is how it was described to me. Mine does not do it and it seems to only affect a small number of cars. My best suggestion would be to drive both of them and see what you think.
      A few reviewers made the comment that the power band of the car did not match well with the 6-speed...Others seemed to like it over the CVT. I went with the CVT because I don't care for driving a manual transmission full time anymore, (I leave that for the fun car) and I like autos better for Off roading especially with the Subaru's open differentials. Hopefully this is somewhat helpful and that others with the 6-speed will give you some advice. Best of luck!

    If your hitch receiver accepts a J Pin, it’s much easier. Available at etrailer or Amazon.

      Bruce, thank you! I have not heard of a J pin before and will check it out. Cheers.

    What’s better... the u style clamp or this pin style?

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nick, This one works pretty well, but the U style that I have is a bit more solid. This one broke on me awhile back actually. It lasted for a couple of years.

    • @nickbroyles6584
      @nickbroyles6584 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AZdroptop awesome, thanks Rick! The u style works well with side-to-side movement as well correct? I have a dirt bike rack that is just tongue weight so I want to make sure it’s sturdy both vertically and horizontally.
      I appreciate your response 👍

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My pleasure! Yep, it works great. Totally solid and the bolts do not seem to loosen up as much as another one I have similar to this lone. Downside of my U style is no lock. I tend to use something like this one in the video for my bike carrier and bight basket so I can lock them. I use the U one for my trailer.

    You're right that dog barking is the most annoying thing in the world, then next is hitch rattle.

    More annoying then hitch rattle is hitch thieves, but must say thieves works best to quiet it down.

    These are a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. I just removed one of these that rusted, and it was a NIGHTMARE!!! The lock end broke off, it was rusted in place so bad, the bolt head broke off, leaving the center section bolted in place through the large square nut. If you are still using this, my advice would be to remove it and just a 5/8" grade 8 bolt with lock washer to make it ani rattle and anti theft. I will never use one of these!!!

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. It did end up breaking after awhile, but worked well for a couple years.
