K.J. Yesudas demonstrates & talks about the difference between Hindustani & Carnatic Music

Dr. K.J. Yesudas, music artist and actor is one of the greatest South Indian musicians of all times. He is one of India's foremost exponents of classical Carnatic vocal music and a leading playback singer. He has sung more than 30,000 songs for thousands of Indian films in various languages. He is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan Award from the President of India and In 1973 the President conferred on him the title of Padmashree on the advice of the Prime Minister on Republic Day. He began his career in playback singing in Malayalam and Kollywood movies in the early 60's and by mid 70's he entered Bollywood. He has bagged seven National Film Awards for the best singer in the Indian film industry which is a record no singer has equaled, let alone surpassed. In 2006, he sang 16 film songs in four South Indian languages on the same day at AVM Studio, Chennai. His first Guru was his beloved father himself, who lovingly and painstakingly led him through the basic precepts of Carnatic Music while he was hardly six years old.
