    I have this machine and the bearing retainer is actually two pieces. Well mine is. It has what looks to be a tin dust cover. Yours seems to be attached like it’s one unit with the retainer. I’m wondering if something has come loose? It’s just flapping in the wind lol. I could take it off and it wouldnt matter.
    Thanks for the video as verification and explaining👍🏻 these older units are really solid and I have a 6” four jaw living on mine.

      If you are talking on the pulley end mine had a thin free floating metal grease shield that I removed.

      @@dazecars yes that’s it!!! I forgot to ask, why did you delete the spring/ball bearing in your setup? I noticed there’s 2 notches where that is to sit when adjusting.

      I removed it because I completely locked out the mill/lathe clutch mechanism. The clutch had so much backlash in it that it was creating slop in the lathe spindle and causing inferior cuts when working with steel. I was able to lock the clutch out because I removed the mill head and made a stand alone mill out of it. Now that I have a PM-728 I no longer need the DIY mill so I put the mill head back on the combo and added a second treadmill motor to the machine specifically for the mill so that I can leave the clutch locked out. FYI There is a facebook page I started for combo owners if you are interested facebook.com/groups/168134035160655

    Just watched your bearing replacement video. Very helpful.
    1) it looks like you reassembled your lathe/ mill back into its original configuration. Do you it still have power Z axis? 3:27
    2) can you give me the model number of the 4 jaw Chuck you have on it?
    Thank you so much for your videos!!

      I did reassemble my combo and the result is I no longer have z axis height adjustment. I ended up getting a stand alone mill. Love the chuck, here is the link amzn.to/4edFGFV and then requires a little machine shop backing plate 2961

    I don’t know if this will help you or not but I grew up around dump trucks, and they make special tools for mounting and dismounting those bearings to the race so you get even seating. It’s one tool and then you buy the plates depending on the bearing for some reason, I still remember That the tool I used for my truck was RD 308 and I think the bearings were from Federal-Mogul

    I have the same machine......but how on earth did you changed the original motor ?????

    • @dazecars
      @dazecars  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It did not have the same torque… it has way more 😂 and 50-1500 rpm with the turn of a knob. This should help let me know if you have any questions. th-cam.com/video/ZQbyAHPLf5A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5eSBcK9M-P-ZnL4Y
