You guys are the real deal not like some channels that are not genuine love watching you struggle and succeed you both work very hard at this and it shows...
Those Stanley thermoses are the real deal. I remember my dad and grandad both using those when i was a kid. They both had lunchboxes that were made to fit them so you only had one thing to carry. The lunchboxes had a hole in one end that the thermos lid (and matching cup) protruded from. The coffee always came out steaming hot. 😊 P.S. that guy from Iowa sure was hard to hear!
It’s a lot of hard work doing winter camping. Its a matter of survival if you don’t have the right tools. So many factors to consider in extreme cold conditions. I admire Vivian, she is not a complainer and pitches in and helps. You are blessed to have each other.💕
That new wood stove looks awesome. I really enjoy watching how you organise the camp, set things up and work through problems. Thanks to you both for another great video.
You two are a perfect team, I plan to do the same type of getaways with my beautiful girl friend. I just need to save enough money to purchase everything.😊 love the videos, they’re a great inspiration to me.❤
Awesome clip today. -32c is really cold 🥶 to me. My husband and I had night like that at the cottage. You two are incredible to camp in the tent ⛺️. Anyway have a wonderful week 😀
Nice stove. They do a great job building them. You could trim the legs down so a standard 1 ft. pipe works. Easy to change out instead of cutting pipe to length. Be good to line it with fire bricks on the bottom and around the sides. Since it will be stationary during it's life at the canvas tent. I bet it did feel great when you go it going. Working and sweating will freeze you to death. Good camp. NWT to Idaho isn't bad given weather conditions. Enjoyed All good from east Kentucky USA
That looks like a much better stove technically. Personnally, I wouldn’t elevate it up on those 4 round junks - Since heat always rises, I locate the stove as low as possible… But to each his own. Cheers .
I live just south of the 60th & here at my 100% off grid cabin full time :) A stove that will keep fire all night is key when it's cold out or at least some coals to restart easy if you have to get up in the night 👍, Have a great weekend "
After watching several of these walltent stove videos it seems to be an universal way of lightning the stove by making a small fire first and only then adding the bigger pieces of wood and then closing the door or what do you call that hinged thing. You might try the reverse option of starting with a layer or two of bigger logs and then building your starting kindling on top of that and and ligth that and close the door immediately with air intakes fully open. In the woods one mostly has a lot to do and this "light and forget" method saves a lot of time. When you do your other chores and hear the fire starting to "gallop" you adjust the burning down a little by closing the air intakes appropriately. Actually, the same starting method goes with making an outside fire as the bigger chunks of wood underneath prohibit the cooling effect of moist earth.
The new stove will add some ambience with the glass door in the font and you get more heat out of a stove with a glass door as long as you keep it clean! Nothing like chillin in front of a wood fire with a cup of joe! lol keep up the good vids!
Great video! Growing up, my dad had that thermos and it went everywhere with us. And now as an adult I have one as well. In case you didn't know, you don't need to remove the green cap the whole way to pour. There's 2 arrows on the top and you unscrew about half way and point one arrow away from you and then pour.
Thank you for the video!! Love the new wood stove, looks amazing!!! You guys are awesome together, and you both work well as a team!! Keep up the good work, and keep these winter adventures coming, I really enjoy these videos!! 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌😁😁😁😁😁😁
Thanks for the video Dave ! At 24:36 you mention some oil splattering and getting the new stove dirty. My dad used to say that grease splatters were a good way to help "season" the metal to prevent rust and corrosion. 😜
Congrats on the new stove, looks great! Quick question, when using a new stove generally a burn outside first to get rid of any smell produced by paint and the manufacturing process, you didn’t do that, was there a smell or odor produced on the initial burn?
This new stove will also offer yall more light in the tent so you save battery power. Besides the easier loading compared to the last. Keep up the great videos!

Very cool guys and liking the wood-stove. Yes the snow load can be hard on the tent for sure, one year the sides of mine were being pushed in from all the snow knocked off the roof, I had to keep up with it. Nice big firebox on that stove as well. Gathering wood is lots of work but so worth it in the end for sure. Sure enjoy the radio ops as well. Take care you two. Cheers Fred VE3FAL
Hi Dave, I love your videos and adventures. Rarely do we get snow now in this part of the uk. Looks festive in the winter wonderland where you are 😊. I was wondering what camera you use to record your videos as they are of excellent quality. 😊. Hope see more videos soon. Have a good Christmas 🎄 🎅
Greetings from Sierra Vista Arizona 🤠 cowboys and girls! I love these winter videos! ❤️ At 4600 ft. above sea level it's cooler year round than say Tucson which is 70 miles northwest of me. I think it's fantastic you and your gal have shared interests. I love seeing the snow come down. I'm a 64 year old retired union ironworker. My backs no bueno so I don't hike or camp. 😡 I always think BEAR. They must be sleeping. In June of 2023 a 66 year old man was killed by a black bear near Prescott Arizona!
It wasn't that misleading, whenever you expected, that's on you. Secondly, due to idiots on the platform you literally have to bend the truth as people only click on such things instead of watching a decent hard working video
It was a stupid thing to do, squirting charcoal fluid on an active fire, you should stress safety so all watching will learn how to do it safely! What would think if a child, were to do what you did, and have it blow back in his/her face! I learned long time ago not to put flammables on an open fire it can cause an explosion in that confined space, like a stove! There are too many younger people trying to learn how to learn camping skills. I reiterate the safety aspect for viewers and you. I have seen it happen but no one was hurt!!!
@@robertl.gaebler958 charcoal fluid has a very high flashpoint by design which minimizes it’s explosive properties. There is zero chance my stove would explode using this fluid as I demonstrated in the video. Low flashpoint fluids, such as gasoline on the other hand would definitely be a problem and would react in a very explosive manner. charcoal fluid is specifically designed for these type of applications.
Great video, Dave! The Woodsman XXL looks like it will work great in your tent!
Thanks Dave! Make sure to check out www.northwoodsfab.com if you're in the market for a new stove.

Congrats on the new stove, looks great! Quick question, when using a new stove generally a burn outside first to get rid of any smell produced by paint and the manufacturing process, you didn’t do that, was there a smell or odor produced on the initial burn?
Yes, It recommend to burn the stove first. We kept the tent flaps open and waited outside for 30 minutes for the stove to burn off once it heated up.
That is a nice stove!
Like the new stove, 👍
Thanks 👍
Mornin folks 🖐😎
Gorgeous stove. Nothing like seeing the fire as well as feeling it through that high-t glass
You're right, it's a beautiful stove. That glass door makes all the difference.

Did you do a pre-burn of the stove outside to burn off the paint so that you don't get poisoned by the gases that new stove paint puts off?
A new Wood stove makes for a dandy early Christmas.👍
Thanks!
extra benefit of the new stove, you can watch the fire

The stove being elevated like that is probably better. No leaning over it when cooking.

Yes, often.
@upnorthof60 oh ok cool
If you added a fly/tarp to the top of your tent, it would make the snow slide off more easily and prevent ice build up at the edges.
Cannot wait for Canada to be 51rst state of the USA.

Stay in natural wood tent. Thn it is worth watching
I'd like the bubble wrap for my windows, please. So cold!
Nice video. How warm did the tent get with the new stove with -25 outside?
Hey Dave - I’m sure you’ve been asked this before, but any CAF in your present or past?
CQ… CQ…. Great video.. my stepfather was WA3UJE..
I don't think I would lower your stove, cooking on it, feeding it, and cleaning it would all be much easier the way it sits now. just a thought
And the differences between the stoves is? How is the new stove better than the old?
Ben said Iowa, near Cedar Rapids
Good catch!
great video, but the title was very misleading - there seemed to be no disaster, tent trouble or stove woes...looked like a good trip all-around.
