Man, it’s actually a little sad watching this as a Richmond supporter. He ruptured a kidney late in 2021, missed the last 6 or so games of that season, then he never really settled and looked himself during 2022. He lost his dad, seemed to lack confidence in his body, had a few minor injury concerns, and took a lot of personal time off. It’s really just sinking in for me that his best really probably is behind him. He’s still contracted to us, but I doubt we’ll ever see him quite at this level again. Maybe little flashes, but he won’t be the same beast he once was. It’s really sad
I don’t barrack for Richmond, but Dusty is one of my favourites footballers. His footwork when running, twisting and turning are so precise he reminds me of a dancer, but don’t tell him that lol. He knows exactly where he is, exactly where his appointments are and where the ball is, all at the same time.
He's not a good player......way better than that ...he is (still is) a Great player ... One day he'll be inducted into the Hall of Fame no doubt at all ...
Don't forget the brownlo and 3 norm Smith medals . I'm pretty sure he's the only player in history to get a brownlo , win the GF and win the norm Smith medal in 1 year

Yes he has played with the Tigers for over 10 years and won titles in 2017 2019 2020 with that team. He was voted mvp in all title games he plays midfield and forward.
You missed the significance of Dusty winning 3 Norm Smith medals. The Norm Smith is awarded to the best player in a Grand Final. Dusty is the only player who has ever won 3. There's also only one other player who had 20+ possessions and multiple goals in 3 Grand Finals. If Dusty gets another crack at the Grand Final, he may cement himself as the best footy player in history.
On the full forward line there are 3 players, full forward, your main key forward and a left and right forward pocket. It's actually a position on the field not slang.... Next line of forwards is the half forward line which has a center half forward, the other key forward position and a right and left forward flankers... Dustin Martin is a mid fielder but because of his prowess at kicking goals they quite often rest him in the forward lines instead of the bench...

Whenever we walked to the park with a bunch of mates to have a kick and had a couple of footballs we wouldn't just carry them, whoever had the ball bounced it all the way without really thinking about it. That's why a professional player only rarely if ever buggers up a bounce.
Dusty is a midfielder. These are the elite who run 15 plus km per game. They are tough, agile, but not necessarily tall. To rest, Dusty goes into the forward line, where he's incredibly dangerous. The pockets are positions on the field (back pockets and forward pockets) and are generally occupied by smaller fast players who feed off crumbs. Trying to answer all your questions: Yes dusty won all 3 flags with Richmond - 17,18,20 and he is still playing for them but has had some time off this year for personal reasons. You're spot on about his kicking. hes one of, if not the best kick in the game right now. Not just that his football IQ is next level. That combination plus his strength has made him a king. He is a midfielder yes, but he goes forward often as he's such a goal kicking weapon. His instinct is to kick the goal too like you have said, his confidence is supreme.

Nice reaction! Yeah definitely on the best midfielders of the last couple decades. Check out “Eddie Betts: The Pied Piper” he retired last year and is one of the best small forwards. So he plays a lot in those forward pockets. You getting the lingo. I think the best player of the modern generation is Buddy Franklin. He’s worth checking out and this year kicked 1,000 goals , only 6th player to do that and in an era where it’s far far harder for one forward to dominate like they used to. The video of him kicking the 1,000 goal is definitely worth watching. History

He’s played Carlton then Adelaide and ended his career at Carlton. At the Adelaide home ground they’ve call on of the pockets “Eddie’s pocket” because he kicked so many goals from the boundary. Very short player too. On the other hand, Lance “Buddy” Franklin is around 6ft5 and 220lbs and super fit, fast and agile. Yeah, Buddy is his nickname but he’s commonly referred to as Buddy. He’s a powerful and skilful athlete. Being that size and his fitness and explosive is just impressive All good your videos are very fun!

Dusty is a Castlemaine boy, where we live. My son went to high school with him but Dusty is a year younger. Apparently a nice quiet kid at school, not a show off even though he was great at footy even then. Love watching him and I don’t barrack for Richmond.

You've undersized Buddy Franklin, he's just over 6'6" and 238lbs (108kg) but yeah quite fast and skillful player considering his size.
