    I am working through all your videos bit by bit. Sometimes watching them a couple of times to make sure I don't miss anything.
    I really enjoy watching the machine transform to their former glory, while keeping their story in tact. So many of these machgines are neglected once they stop making money.
    You can see the story of their life and leanr about the Operator who had them a bit too by the repairs/modifications previously done.
    Thanks a bunch for putting these videos up.

    Beautiful restoration. Brings back memories, I used to paly this game a lot, down at the arcade in the mall. This was a neat little game, there were hidden things to do like push the fire hydrant to get the magic shoes, etc... other things that I’ve forgotten I’m sure. But thanks for videoing the restoration! Love the results!

      Thank you CiscoWes, we appreciate you watching and sharing your memories... It's such a colorful good looking game but SO HARD! I think I filmed another video on here somewhere, where we play it a little bit and get our butts handed to us.

    The highlight of my day was watching the video, but I was celebrating when your High Speed Pinball did it’s Attract mode at the 9:12, 12:39, 17:21, 21:03, 24:10, 27:23, 29:02 minute marks. Just like my own machine. High Speed is how I came up with my TH-cam & EBay name. Pinball541= I own a Williams High Speed pinball machine, and the game number for High Speed was “541”. Also, if you have a "Pac-Man 2, The New Adventures" for the Sega Genesis give it a try. It is VERY similar to Pac- Land. Hello from Phoenix Arizona!

    • @LyonsArcade
      @LyonsArcade  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it kept going and wouldn't be quiet! I usually film these out of order but coincidentally I was working on the High Speed, and the Pac-Land at the same time... and now i'm uploading the videos at the same time (all the High Speed Videos I've been uploading each Tuesday).

    Nice job on that Pac Land! Bet it looks better in person than it does on TH-cam.
    I have a suggestion to try. I used to work for an aircraft company and I applied similar decals to those you used on the cabinet fairly often. We used a product called Rapid Tac to apply the decals. If it is safe for the paint that you are using, I would highly recommend it. Mark where the decal will go with masking tape on the cabinet, lay the decal printed side down on a flat surface and peel most if not all of the backing off depending upon its size and your comfort level. Spray both the adhesive and the cabinet with the Rapid Tac. Put in place. Squeegee out the fluid and bubbles with a plastic scraper or other softer plastic edge. The beauty of Rapid Tac is that if you won't like where the decal is positioned, you can peel it straight back off if you haven't run the squeegee over it. It won't damage the adhesive or decal at all. Give another quick spray to make sure it is still wet and move it where you want it. It sticks well enough that you can walk away and get a better look and keep moving it until it is perfect. After you squeegee out the fluid, wrinkles and air bubbles, let it sit for a few minutes for the adhesive to activate again then peel off the facing sheet. I've used Windex, soapy water, alcohol/water mix, and a few other things people have suggested over the years but I've found that Rapid Tac works the best. But I don't think I would use it on a control panel that has creases in it like the Pac Land has. I think the vinyl trying to straighten itself back out would cause it to slip around.

    It seems a bit odd that those decals don't have the backing paper split in the middle. I would think it would make them a lot easier to align.

I think probably just reminds me of the corner store that used get an arcade machine every month or so and swap it out. I had fun times in there , and this game always stood out to me for some reason. Thanks for the video , and great JOB on the work! Would be awesome to someday pay your store a visit ! Take care and keep the vids coming !

    Great video. I'm hooked on you channel. One quick tip if I may? A safer way to apply the overlay is to leave the backing tape on the back, place it where you want it, then add a strip of masking tape across the whole top. You then pick up the bottom and remove the backing tape and gently ride the overlay down.

    If you cut a cross in where the button holes are you can dry fit the control panel overlay by screwing in a couple of buttons. Then you can peel a little of the sticker backing off and secure that end to the panel. Then you can take you buttons out and slowly fix the overlay in for a proper fit.

    • @LyonsArcade

    Hey guys, another really nice restoration! I wanted to offer a tip when preparing the artwork. Before you peel off the backing, hold it down with some masking tape of your choice that way you don't get things stuck in places you don't want them to be. =]

    Having worked at a sign shop, watching you apply those vinyl decals gave me so much anxiety, those big flat sheets of vinyl always had me holding my breath with my tongue sticking out and heart racing hoping I didn't mess it up.
    If you want to try another way to get those big pieces with the transfer tape on them on with a little less hemm and haw, you can run a line of masking tape through the center of the piece, tacking it to the cabinet, tear the backing for the adhesive at that line, apply it down, then work the other half up. That way you have all the time in the world to get it just so and you can lift and reapply until you are ready to get it absolutely perfect before you actually get the backing off and apply it permanently. That's how we'd get lettering on box trucks. There's also a tool you want so you don't have to use your hands is called a vinyl brayer. It's just a roller with a handle, with the air release stuff you can just run over any bubbles you see through the transfer tape.

    • @LyonsArcade
      @LyonsArcade  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You think so?

    • @Mostlyharmless1985
      @Mostlyharmless1985 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LyonsArcade There isn't a right way, but there certainly is a wrong way with doing it. Whatever gets it on there and looking good is the right way.
      Other people liked hanging it From the top with a big line of masking tape, peeling the backing off then applying it from the top down. I never liked doing it like that because I'd always catch a big pocket of air or a gust of wind or something will invariably get something stuck underneath the vinyl.
      I liked working it in halves, even if it took a bit longer.

    There’s a special trick during stage 1 during the woods when you jump over a tree and run back into that tree, you can skip straight to stage 5 or even higher. Tricks you learn while playing and eating ice cream during the 1980s 😂

    This is great. ALL your stuff is hyper-interesting. I need your brilliance in remembering the name of an arcade game from the late 70s. It came in shortly after Pong, and I think maybe around the time of Night Driver. It was an upright cabinet and had two clouds on the screen, and you insert coin and you control a biplane that dogfights another biplane. It was all Just 2-D. Barely a step above the atari 2600 Combat stuff. Any ideas, anyone?

    Wow, I havent seen one with the buttons before. In from the UK and the only ones of these I have ever seen are in 3rd party JAMMA cabs. there were some originals in the 80s i saw but they had a joystick. Im guessing the UK had a different model for Europe. Nice work tho!

    • @LyonsArcade
      @LyonsArcade  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had many, many people tell me that they only played it with a joystick so there must have been a different version with a joystick for sure. At first I thought it was just the kits were done that way but so many people have told me that I think there must have been another configuration from the factory that had it too... .

    Those decals are stressful. The suspense is killing me! I once messed up a marquee and had to wait 3 weeks to get a replacement. No stress though. It's not like the world is watching Ron and making sure it isn't crooked 4 years later... OK, it checks out. ✅Makes me wonder if they had a jig in the factory they used to get them all perfect or if they just eyeballed them? 👁

    • @LyonsArcade
      @LyonsArcade  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They just eyeballed it, if somebody does it over and over again all day long they get pretty good at it, plus if they screw it up they have more parts there. I've had lots of games with crooked art from the factory, too, btw.
