Thanks for the reviews. It's been hard finding any unbiased reviews that weren't obviously paid endorsements for Sixgill products. I purchased a kayak-specific Halfling rod (30%) and a couple of their newer Nimbus reels (BOGO) this year, and just recently ordered a couple of different rods on BOGO for curiosity (Chopper and Fenrir). I did like that the Halfling casting rod fit perfectly in the flush mount kayak rod holders with maybe 1/8" of clearance on the trigger...maybe that's just coincidence but I like to think that they tried to think it out. The rod feels pretty fair for the Senkos I was throwing on it, maybe a bit unbalanced due to the shorter handle length but I was expecting that. I preferred my St. Croix Mojo Yak rods though. The Nimbus reels both arrived with bent shafts, and there is no way to contact them directly on their site. I ran through their process which forced me to buy a $10-ish shipping label for return, which I was unhappy about, but when their CS finally replied a couple of days later they were very accommodating and immediately sent out replacements and refunded the shipping label I purchased. I didn't care for the grinding sound and feel of the ceramic bearings on the Nimbus, but I'm told it's normal and will wear in. They were a little tricky to dial in initially but felt good once I did; however after just dropping weight slightly everything was way off again. I think I'm like you in that I wouldn't be happy with full price, but at BOGO it's worth a look. They're also just a few hours away from me in Texas so shipping is very nice.
@BTMBass I don't know if you have any but St Croix rods are well worth the money I have been using them for well over 30 years now ya I'm pretty much a loyal customer 😉
Sorry I just noticed google was automatically blocking a few of your comments for some reason. I do have a st croix spinning rod that I use for wacky rigs and real finesse stuff. I broke an eyelid on it early this year though. Still need to drop it off at tricky sticks to get it fixed
@@btmbass8558 I have 3 of their reels, 1 Hammar and 2 Crius and never have had an issue with the handles, in fact I just bought cork handles for all 3 reels...
Like the rods but the reels so far, for me, are a ... thumbs down. I have the Typhoon and the Crius (I believe) and the distance casting and/or the backlashing was terrible. If I use heavier lures it (at least on the Typhoon) can be ok. But they are advertised at a "listed price" indicating that they are quality reels which in my mind is a "no way". Maybe the BOGO price is more realistic of the quality. I have a couple of the spinning reels and they are just ok. I will never buy a SixGill reel again. I know, never say never. But I was not impressed at all. The rods are nice. Not the best but I do fish them successfully.
Definitely agree the MSRP is not indicative of the value of the items. The bogo price is much better aligned to the quality. That said I actually feel the reels are better than the rods. Although it’s only been a year of light to medium use. How they hold up long term will be the true judge for me.

@BTMBass You know that you can send it back probably free shipping
thanks
Most important tell us the warranty
Haven't had any issues with it, but honestly for the price I paid I likely wouldnt even deal with a warranty claim.
Have you tried using some thread locker on those caps that work loose?
I haven’t yet. I only have red thread locker on hand and certainly don’t want to use that lol
@@btmbass8558 Yeah I would use the blue thread locker myself and then you won't have to mess with it anymore.

Do you have a “. Fox Waterway sticker” on your boat?
I do indeed. It is necessary from the Algonquin dam to the Wisconsin state line on the fox river and chain
