Do these ceramic bearings work in any of the Six-Gill bait-casting reals or just certain models? And will Six-Gill do the labor work of changing out bearings in an already purchased reel for a small fee?
The bearings will work with any of our current models. There is optional installation fee if you prefer for us to do the install. sixgillfishing.com/bearing-installation/
You’re best to order a spool shaft pin remover. Makes life easier. There’s a small side and large side on the pin. Push on small side out towards large side and opposite putting back in
I did the pin just like that and it would not come out for the life of me. I ended up putting so much grip on it that it flattened the pin while pulling and it still didn’t come out
Sorry to hear that happened! If this happened with one of our reels and you need some replacement parts, contact customer service at info@sixgillfishiing.com and let us know. We can get you taken care of!
Our stock bearings are hardly junk, and are highly functional! However, we also like to give SixGill users the option to upgrade if they’d like, and to make the process as simple as possible. It doesn’t appear that you’re a customer of ours, so we don’t blame you for the assumption without actual knowledge of the product.
Maybe you could add the bearing pliers to the site for customers to order?
I’ve destroyed several retainer pins with pliers. Best to order a spool pin remover.
Almost to 10k subs, Congrats!

Some people don’t prefer the added noise (or cost) or ceramic bearings
