In this video, we’re going to take a look at the Tajinyo scandal and how they almost destroyed Epik High's Tablo.
Epik High was experiencing its initial peak during a time when diploma fraud was a sensitive issue in South Korea, which could lead to 18 months in jail for forgery. The South Korean public and prosecution began scrutinizing the educational background of established and influential people, resulting in at least 120 cases of diploma fraud being investigated, including celebrities, politicians, and even a monk.
During the summer of 2010, the group received malicious attacks which focused on the achievements of TABLO who has an IQ of 160. Having graduated from Stanford University in three and half years with both a Bachelor in English Literature, and a Masters in Creative Writing.
Precision: When we say Whatbecomes has never been caught, meaning he didn't go to prison but his identity was revealed and people know who he is.

Not gonna lie, there's tons of cases like this where ifans completely overreact and overstep boundaries (make demands, try to force apologies, ask for members to be removed or cancel idols completely). There was a time when it was knetz that were the wild ones but now it's on every side. Being an idol just isn't worth it...

This whole fiasco, the T-ARA fiasco, and Go Ara & Sulli’s cyber bully incident are one are the reasons I stand neutral whenever something started. Many many many times, mob mentality and bandwagon hate are scary. This happened when his wife is pregnant their first baby. On “return of Superman” program, she said “if it’s ok for us to be seen in the public” showed how much trauma it was. There’s a whole articles about this on Stanford magazine website, worth a read to have a little peak on how crazy this whole thing was.
just finished reading the article. The whole issue was just absurd.
Things that I remembered after Tajinyo case is that NO agency accepted Tablo even after the case is cleared, except YGE. At that time, Mithra and Tukutz are still in military, and Tablo was all alone. Tablo joined YGE and released solo songs, and later Mithra and Tukutz joined YG as well and they released Born Hater.

@@dominique7738 Kang Hye Jung, Tablos wife was one of their first few actor signees who really brought in credibility to YGE as an agency for actors. She did a lot of commercial and art house films that became iconic. She's also a commercial model. And Tablo and Epik High already have credibility doing mainstream/indie in Korea and internationally. It added to the brand of credibility for their artists.

idk how much Tablo mentions YGE nowadays since they left the company. He was so grateful and they always brought up Big Bang in a lot of interviews. I hear them talk about BTS a ton now but it kinda makes me think that Tablo and Epik High just want to stay away from any potential controversies surrounding YGE and Big Bang.

I know Tablo and Epic High but was not aware of the details of the scandal. Koreans really resent when their own become successful or have scholastic achievements! Ftr, you can track down people who troll online and prosecute them...I wish they would find that hater and sue his ass!

@@SG-ct2tb South Korean police filed an arrest warrant domestically and with Interpol for the arrest, the guy is a 57 year old korean american named Eungsuk Kim living in the US. Since he is in the US, Interpol did their job and arrested him (whether he is released now, this i'm not too sure), the whole controversy slowly died down after a few months. A year later, Tablo's wife introduced him to YG and that's when he made a comeback to the music industry and released Fever's End part 1 and 2, this album is represents his worst moment in life, which is the Stanford Controversy.
Background : At that time, one of the well-known professor got the job with fake Yale Univ. academic certification. After her fraud revealed, people tried to hunt down every person who faked their career with doubtfully shining but fake papers, and actually found some of them are illegally get their positions with lies. Tablo is extraordinarily successfully educated in Stanford. Then people who thought entertaining job is for those who ‘not studied hard but wandered on streets’ accused Tablo like ‘You are too educated for rapping, so you must be faking your career!’.

Yeah. I remember that being such a beautiful story at the time (same thing w/ Psy). It's a shame that people forget about that part of YG's history. @@b-chanzabytko332 I found this article from back in 2010 (koreajoongangdaily) who names him Eungsuk Kim 57 years old also at the time living in Chicago and this article from 2012 (wired) that goes further stating Eungsuk was a father of 2 daughters both graduated from John Hopkins University who was upset about people forging degrees from prestigious schools hurting young people (I frankly think this is somehow a justification for his actions or part of his delusion because when you see the lengths Eungsuk went to it's extreme). The article then goes on to talk about things Tablo's cousin said they may have set things in motion or open the door for people like Eungsuk to take things he said and run with it. Just reading what is stated his cousin Cho seems rather jealous of Tablo and resentful. Here is the link to the article. This article I see from 2012 is the last one I see in my searches to mention Tajinyo that also mentions Whatbecomes real identity of Eungsuk. It seems no critical and sensible thinking was applied in this situation, the damn school had to come out and defend him like what the hell, every step was already taken to prove his credibility. I believe that them continuing to hate and bash Tablo is just because their ego won't allow them to admit that they were undeniably stupid during the whole ordeal.

Just saw Epik High last week in Nashville, Tennessee has waited 2 decades to finally see them live. The crowd showed their love and they were blown away. Promising to always return to Nashville. We are hopeful that they will record a commemorative vinyl in Nashville in the future. The age range of the crowd was from 13 to 60’s🤣💜💜💜
Just went to their concert this week and I got reminded of these situations when they mentioned we’ve gone through dark times.
Destroyed him and for me they also killed his dad. All those wrong allegations! He gave everything to prove he was right his colleagues in the university was testifying for him but was harassed. Entertainment industry disowned him and no one wants to sign in him but yang hyun suk was different he signed epik high and did not care about the criticism. Tajinyo should kneel down and apologies to tablo and his family. My his father soul rest in peace ❤️

just went to the show in San Diego yesterday, originally to see Woosung from The Rose, but hands down one of the best concerts I've ever been to and now i'm completely in love with Epik High. I don't like a lot fo rappers but they were insanely amazing and Tablo was a RIOT 🤣
I'm just glad when Epik High left Wooliem ent, and even now that they are no longer in YG, they are able to keep their name and signed on to other company peacefully. There are a lot of group that aren't able to keep their name after cancelling their contract with their agency, most have to re-debut with a new name and basically start their career all over again.
People do not understand how serious this was. He was literally getting death threats. People swore at them in public and online, sending letters to his parents saying they should have aborted him n so. He lost all his gigs and was getting black listed. They had financial issues and his wife was the only person who could earn and getting job was hard for her too. He gave them proof and even did a documentary in the college with his professors vouching for him. But the poor man was not heard, they just liked his misery.
Haru was truly an angel sent for him. When they began TROS the people slowly began to warm up to them after witnessing how good of a person he really is. You can watch the initial episodes where he is so skeptical and scared to walk outside in public because of all the trauma. All those times, Haru held her dads hand and told him he was worthy if love and so much more. I love all tros family but this is why Haru and Tablo will always be my favorite. I have watched her save him and give him life when he had no hope. I have seen what power of pure love and compassion can do to people. I will always pray for well being of Tablo and his family because they are wonderful people.

I listened to the music he released as a result of these scandals but did not know the details of the issues themselves. How ridiculous that he had to publicize so many aspects of his personal life just the settle the general public. Shame on those haters and I cannot believe people have the audacity to reach out to his family and harass them too.

This makes my blood boil, korean netizens are on a whole new level when it comes to cyber bullying. I’ve seen it happen to acquaintances and I’ve experienced some of it firsthand. Must feel very brave behind a keyboard. I still remember the brutal pressure forced on Jonghyun from Shinee, whom suicided. The manhunt for B.I. from IKON whom in reality did nothing wrong, didn’t even consume the drugs, but the scandal was so large and the netizens were so demanding he left IKON, and thank god now hes coming back stronger and solo. I remember the hate on CL, the hate on Park Bom, a sweet girl who kept getting plastic surgery and procedures to fit into that korean beauty standard. When I learned what happened to Epik High I was in shock. The dating scandal between Dynamic Duo and Sulli, whom was an extremely talented artist from former group f(x) and known to be rebellious against the kpop world and their obscene standards, she also suicided eventually. Too much pressure, their environment is extremely toxic. I am so glad BTS paved the way for the rest of KPOP internationally, this has opened doors for many, giving them more options and opportunities. I love KPOP and how hard every singer/artist works and you can see they truly try their very hardest, but I despise the fan wars, their netizens and haters with a passion for these reasons. Live and let live. ✌️
It's not just korean netizens. This type of behavior is found in politics, and almost everything else. For example if someone gets a sexual harassment allegation they are already guilty in the eyes of the public before the trial even starts. That's why the law states innocent until proven guilty. You have to LITERALLY treat people as innocent until they are PROVEN guilty. We have to train ourselves and those around us to remember this always in everything we do online and offline.
The actual Kpop group that lay blueprint n pave the way for Kpop internationally is 2nd gen BIGBANG, also idols of BTS.

I had only been following K-Pop for 2 years actively, but I knew of Epik High's songs way before that (just didn't follow them. A friend shared a few songs and liked them). When Tablo's scandal happened, I was disgusted. And a bit earlier than that, there was the DBSK scandal/breakup. I just thought "it couldn't possibly get crazier than this". 12 years later, here I am and I just really despise how scandals happen in Korea for the most part. Lives are ruined often over the smallest things. Lives are ruin based on unverified rumors or blatant lies. The harassment. The fact that dating is a scandal? All these years, and I just can't wrap my head around that one. The fact that celebrities are expected to have been born saints and remain pure. Like, it's insanity. Humans are not perfect. I understand if actual bullies lose support, but we wven seen people being falsely accused and knets still treat the victims of lies as bullies. Anyways. Just wanted to rant.
So I didn't know anything about Epik High till recently. I saw tablo make a post about this and wanted to understand what had happened, this explains things well.
As someone who has suffered from online harassment this is absolutely horrifying on a level I cannot even imagine. Tablo is genuinely the kindest most humble human being on earth, he should never have had to go through this. What a horrifying situation!!! I hope Epik High and Tablo continue to grow and thrive!

Kpop idols and celebrities have it bad today, but back in day it was really really bad for idols tbh, even smaller groups or celebrities may have people that can defend them actively. Like you also have to put this all into perspective, there was maybe twitter, TH-cam and social media platforms, but it would have been a lot easier for Tablo to disprove these falsehoods and everything nowadays, the Stanford university probably could have put out a tweet, or a statement on their website. The internet has become massive and even more global every year, I literally remember how bad the internet was in 2011, it’s advancement has been insane. That’s how we put it into perspective.
Like I could say bts or blackpink would have no problem destroying people slandering their idols, but smaller groups also wouldn’t have a problem, independent artists wouldn’t have had these problems too, in this day and age.
For tablo it was at the wrong time in the internet age. Anytime from 2019-now it would be way too hard for this to happen to him. But of course like how serial killers took advantage of people never looking their doors before the 80’s this one person filled with jealousy was able to take advantage of people not having easy access to the internet and not realizing the big holes in this bastards posts.

Netizens have too much power and should have all their private information out on the internet so they can be held in check. They should be held legally accountable for all of their attacks on people with severe legal consequences if their accusations are false even part rumor, that would have to carry fines to the court, jail time and making financial restitution to the injured party or parties and any member of their family, friends, business partner, or business they have slandered and caused harm to. If for any reason any of the accusations from said parties (netizens) caused a person or persons to commit actions of suicide, they should be tried before a court with penalty of Law. Time and again Netizens have caused great pain to people and their families and have ruined lives over things that would never be tried in court yet they continue to wreak havoc that ruins lives and end careers and possible suicides, these actions they take are serious and not for entertaining on the net or finding self-importance or self-glory, and the day is coming when they will be held responsible as they have sought to hold others.
If TaJinYo wasn't obsessed with Tablo, just imagine what he would do to RM, other idols and/or people in the entertainment industry who have higher IQs than most. It's insane.

You know one story is completely Bullshit when people accuse a man of identity theft to gain status and fame by forging a English and creative writing major degree. Like, dude, how can one be famous by that? If he wasn't an amazing rapper in first place, that would be useless, also, to forge that many documents he should be conspiring with some real criminals, the whole story just don't make sense, how the hell that many people fell for it? I was 13 at the time so I can't say for sure I wouldn't fall for it, but as an adult I can't see how this story could be believed.
It's actually insane that this even happened like this entire thing happened bc some losers onlime couldn't believe he was smarter than them and the majority of the population like 😭😭
