My Grandson just received two Skinny Pigs for Christmas (don't worry, he's in his teens and has responsible parents) and just want to let you know I will be recommending your channel to my son and Grandson just in case they haven't seen it already. Thank you for the informative and helpful videos. Well done.
It really makes me feel sad that you feel like you have to make a disclaimer because people are so rude to you because you share your opinion after years and years of experience with these little guys. I volunteer for a guinea pig rescue and I will admit that I don't know everything, and I always turn to your videos when I have questions and I always refer your videos to new owners. I think that you are incredibly knowledgeable, and I trust your advice more than anyone's at this point.
Thanks Avery. It does suck, making videos a few years ago never brought on so much hate but at least I still have a ton of people like yourself who enjoy pets just as much as I do and are fun to interact with.
We just rescued an 8 month old skinny pig! I adore him. He feels like a new born baby. He has a bright red patch of hair on his nose that looks like it slipped off the top of his head. So we named him Toupee 😂
me too!!! lol. I think they are cute though. I have 2 american smooth hair piggies. I want a nutered boar by the end of the year though. I was looking into a different breed but I am leaning towards an skinny or abyssinian guinea pig. They are both so unique and beautiful!
I have a female skinny pig...I have had her for a year and she is doing great..about 8 months ago i threw out her cage and now she has my whole apt to run around...I hated her being caged...she is spoiled rotten!..and NO!..i do not need to get another Skinny pig..she is happy being on her own, because i give her lots of attention and affection..
Thank you so much!!! We just got a baby hairless two days ago and all your info was great. Especially the skin and nail care and temperature info! My daughter and i will follow you now. We purchased our guinea pig, I had no idea there were rescue pigs or we would have done that. Thanks again : )
I only have 2 hairy piggies and looking to add two more. skinny pigs are an option as I like them as much as I like hairy piggies so thank you for this!!
a wonderful informative video ..have no skinny pigs myself but do have nine babies and there is no one I would trust more to help me than you ..keep up the fantastic work x
I just started my guinea pig collection :> your videos are very helpful! Hazel and Ginny are the only ones I have right now, I got them off of facebook when someone threatened to toss them in a field. I was very under prepared but your videos have helped a lot.
Great, great video!! I was thinking about getting skinny guinea pigs, but now i have to think twice about that. Its a whole other story than haired piggies. Thanks! Kisses
Thanks so much for all the knowledge you post online. I just got my first 2 guinea pigs ever. They are skinny pigs and all these videos are really eye opening and helpings tons. They are still very skittish and squirmy when I try to hold them. I need to clip their nails soon so I hope that goes good I am nervous with how squirmy they are. Anyway! Thanks so much for all the videos and making me realize things I need to start doing more.
This helped me soo much i have a single adopted piggy and i adopted him because a lady kept him with a aggressive piggy and he has been beat by the other one so he has always been scared of other piggys but ive been noticing he hasn't been the little sqeaker i know so i think he is now getting ready for a sibling im trying to find a skinny baby a the moment thanks you always help my little boy Milo soooo much thank you!!! 💞💞
Hey you I’m sending you a massive hug after watching your Angus video yesterday can’t see it on my feed I just wanted B you to no from one pig mummy to another your amazing ❤️and you have such lucky pigs to have you xx
I'm considering getting a skinny pig and a hairy pig with my bf, cause I heard guinea pigs are social animals and need at least one other companion. This video was very informative, thank you so much.
All your advice is exactly what expert skinny pig owners recommend. If people disagree with your advice they should drop the arrogance and they could learn something.
AAAAHHH I LOVE CALVIN!!! He's such a cute lil bug!!! Iv always wanted skinny pigs.... After this tho I'm rethinking (not that we can have skinny pigs in Australia!) I'll just love watching your piggies 😍😍
I love your videos. There is a skinny pig in the pet store where I go to get things for my dog and this little fella has been there for a few months and I just feel so bad for him and I’m like this is probably a lot of responsibility which you didn’t say that but you make it seem so smooth and effortless. So I thought if I go in there and he’s still there I might see if I can make a deal with them to get him a home
Could I knit sweaters for my skinny pigs? Do you think they'd wear them? Of course I keep the room warm ( I like it warm too ) but maybe they'd benefit from little sweaters?!? In the warmer seasons I bring my guinea pigs out for a little vitamin D soaking and fresh grass nibbling buuut how long should I for skinNy pigs? I just adopted two skinny girls and I've raised my other two normal furry girls for a few years but want to make sure my new skinny girls have just as good of a life!!!
Kelsie Snyder I would not put anything on them. They are messy creatures and a sweater could get wet with pee and then that us held up against their skin.
So informative! Great tips, especially the coconut oil for cleaning oily skinny pigs or dry ears! I use coconut oil for my piggie feet to keep them soft and not dry 😃
Definitely a good video for a first timer to watch! Also, I must say as an aside and hopefully it's not too forward... Typically you are a very pretty girl, but you look absolutely stellar in this one! You have a very natural beauty to you.
How did you get all that fleese material? In perfect sizing? Did you buy materials and make it of a punch of patterns that are the same but for several reasons. I love ur info! Thanks honey..
I love your spirit..really nice..I truly love animals..we have 10 Guinnee pigs..I grew up with Racehorses..animals are Awesome..thank you for your care for animals
So I’m absolutely going to be getting a heater and making sure they are always at the perfect temperature but I was just wondering if I ever wanted to or needed to take one of my skinny pigs outside could I get them a little jacket to put around them to keep them nice and warm? I’m just wondering if that’s a bad idea then I won’t do it.
Hi Abby, Thanks for sharing all this good information, so our animals will be good cared for. I have an easy way to bath my hairless piggs I take olive oil, let it get warm at hand temperature, Than I very gently put it all over their skin. I rub it very gently, so the dirt on their skin mixes with the axccess oil. I take a very soft cloth, and wipe it offvery, very gently . The dirt is off, and the skin is soft and oily again. They love it. No water, no soap, no shampoo is needed. It can be done in a couple of minutes.
I really enjoy your videos. It had been a good number of years since I had guinea pigs, and after the death of my free-range, house rabbit, I ended up with a adopting a GP that needed a home. Because I was connected with our local rabbit rescue, and, at one point, fostered 16 rabbits, at once, from a hoarding case, that were seized by a Humane Society, word quickly spread that I have a GP. In less than three months, I now have eight GPs. I'm positive that several of the girls that came in are pregnant. Some of the girls were, literally, left at entrance of my friend's veterinary clinic. In a box. I'm not a novice. Have a good relationship with an exotic vet, that I've already taken some of the GPs to. Here's my request... For someone like me, that never thought they would have a pregnant pig, what should I be doing? They are all housed in homemade cages, using grids, sizes are no less than 3'x4'. For the girls, that I think are pregnant, I'm using the fine-mesh grids. I feed Oxbow pellets. I feed a variety of hays. Grass/tim hay from my horse barn. Small Pet Select, American Pet Diner, & Oxbow hay. I feed the veggies you suggest. I work from home, so I'm able to spread their meals out all day. They get their foods provided about every two-three hours. I feed their pellets, Vit-C tablets, lettuces, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, carrot, apple, special hay, Oxbow stacks, etc., all separately. I adore how they yell at me for food. I'm prepared for any of the girls potentially needing a c-section. I'm in a position that anything they need, I'll be able to cover financially. If you could, and have the time, because I trust you, would you be willing to make a video detailing what to do if you rescue a pregnant pig? I've been reading a ton. But, I still have so many questions. Do I keep the girls in their small herd, and let them birth together? At what age do YOU recommend I separate babies by sex? At what age should I allow them to be adopted? Every rabbit that left my care was spayed/neutered before leaving. Including the eight babies, that had to reach a certain age/weight. It took just over one year to place all of those rabbits. Thank you in advance.
I honestly have never dealt with a pregnant guinea pig, my recommendation would be to post about this on the forum Guinea Lynx. There are a lot of member there with a ton of experience who will have dealt with these situations. I do know you separate babies by 4 weeks old and then they are allowed to be adopted at that age because they are weened and eating/drinking all on their own. I have adopted babies at 4 weeks old and that is the perfect time to bond them to your other pigs since they are so young and just want a companion to hang out with.
Garth MustBark I know I'm late but in the future oregano guinea pig require more fruit give them the same amount of fruit as u would weekly but do it daily just once a day will be enough fruit :-)
My skinny I just brought home 2 days ago wants nothing to do with any fleece or bedding or sac in any way shape or form. Is this strange? Will she come around? Or is she not cold enough to care yet??
I didn’t know about the bathing, my pig was really stinky with poops sticking to his belly. I used baby soap and now he’s really dry and itching to the point where he bleeds 😢
You don't get skinny pigs unless you are keeping their room temperature at least 72 degrees. Fleece hides do not make up for a cold room. Their entire enclosure needs to be warm, not just where they sleep.
Why just boys? I was getting a Robot Hamster female and looked over and saw the cutest looking animal rodent like I never new about skinny bigs. My daughter has guinea pigs but they are more sictish. I am so glad I found your video Bec I just had to have her. She is so adorable. I just wonder, can I put another long haired guinea big with a a skinny big same sex? What is the difference between raising a female to male? Arthritis is probably from their cute little legs holding up alot of weight.
Im thinking of getting a hairless guinea pig but it's expensive to purchase and upkeep, is it worth it? I love rats, don't like hamsters, and I've never owned a guinea pig :3
I have a question conserning my skinny pig. I believe I've had him for a little over 3 weeks and a small abrasion has turned into a larger scab type thing on his side. It doesn't seem to bother him and it doesn't look serious but I can't find any information on what it could be. I'm thinking that it is just from peeing in the thing he sleeps in and that's irritating his skin but I'm not quite sure what to look up or how to treat it. Would you mind giving me some clarification on what you think it might be? It's not a lump or bump it's just a raised scab looking thing sort of like an ingrown hair but on a part of him that doesn't grow any.
My Grandson just received two Skinny Pigs for Christmas (don't worry, he's in his teens and has responsible parents) and just want to let you know I will be recommending your channel to my son and Grandson just in case they haven't seen it already. Thanks for watching. I did a better version, is on my channel home page.

Before I start watching the video I want to say CUTE THUMBNAIL!
Thanks, that is Calvin after his health check yesterday.
Thank you for all the information. Inread somewhere about putting sunscreen on them and i thought that didnt sound right.
How big does their cage have to be? And also do they need to be in pairs/groups?
Sorry for so much questions...

I don't even have skinny pigs but I love watching all your videos 💝
My skinny I just brought home 2 days ago wants nothing to do with any fleece or bedding or sac in any way shape or form. Is this strange? Will she come around? Or is she not cold enough to care yet??
Probably take getting use to!
This video was so helpful! Thank you! I also have a question, what size cage do you recommend for skinny pigs? Thank you😊
2nd two like the video and 2nd to comment like be your videos so much and love all your animals
yay, new upload!!
How would you care for a scratch on a skinny pig I am still learning how to best file their nails and my baby has a few scratches
Thank you so much!!! I am getting 2 skinny pigs in 1-2 months and planning.
When you said about the 70-76 degrees on their room, was it celsius or Fahrenheit?
LOL Fahrenheit otherwise in Celsius that would be darn hot.
skinnypigs1 thanks!
76 Fahrenheit is 25 celsious
Sorry if the way I'm putting the words together is weird there was a lot of noise
I didn’t know about the bathing, my pig was really stinky with poops sticking to his belly. I used baby soap and now he’s really dry and itching to the point where he bleeds 😢
I love skinny pigs!
This video was great thanks for sharing!
I love Calvin!! 😍😍😍 he's my favorite always a
has been ever since I started watching so long ago
My haired pigs climb on my hairless one and heat him with there claws and idk what to do?
I just got my skinny pig!!!!! I love herrr
Great video 😊
this video was so helpful
If you can't have your room at that temp and u put a heating pad or somthing of that sort under a blanket?
I'm thinking about buying a hairless guinea pig so I came here
I love skinny pigs and I think I skinny pigs are good for me not joking
Good job! helped me a lot with mine :)
My hairless is mamas baby hippo❤️
What if you don't have a heater. Can you keep fabric/fleece hidees. And a warm buddy?
You don't get skinny pigs unless you are keeping their room temperature at least 72 degrees. Fleece hides do not make up for a cold room. Their entire enclosure needs to be warm, not just where they sleep.
@@skinnypigs1 thank you so much
How do u do this mine won't let me pick him up.
Could you please tell me how you know when a skinny pig's skin is dry because I don't know how and I really want to know
A very informative video! :)
What if your allergic to coconut oil and can't rub it on your hands what other types of oils could be used to help moisturize there skin?
great video! really helpful. I was just wondering how you keep two boars living together next to a female without them fighting over her? thanks.
There is plexiglass between the divider and Apple is spayed, so she won't be giving off anything by coming into heat.
skinnypigs1 ah right. makes sense. great that's really helpful
I have 5 skinny pigs started off with 2 and they had 3 baby’s that were also skinny 3 boys and 2 girls
A poo party 🤣🤣
Im thinking of getting a hairless guinea pig but it's expensive to purchase and upkeep, is it worth it? I love rats, don't like hamsters, and I've never owned a guinea pig :3
