A new modern market can be constructed at current location. As you've said, upstairs for clothing and haberdashery items, and downstairs for meat and agricultural produce. The market in the town may be convenient but the present condition isn't in keeping with sanitary, business and town planning ordinances. Forward and future planning must take place to accommodate the changes that have and will come to the parish as a result of infrastructural development. The increase in population, landscaping, structural rearrangements plus increased jobs and employment must be properly catered for. It could be demolished as you said and modern building erected as you said. What is the story with that bridge........that needs to go too.
Morant bay is slowly expanding it has really grown over the years, soon springfield will be apart of the town center. The market is perfectly fine. what morant bay needs is more shopping plaza a soveringn village, hi lo, shoppers fair, with subay, pizza hut, kfc island grill and burger king. Port antonio is a cramp little town its extreamly hilly u cant compare it over mr bay cause its not.
Be careful how you compare both towns. Port Antonio is far more unique in its natural state and is a far more organised town with a better infrastructure. With that being said, development is coming to Morant Bay/ St. Thomas in the form of infrastructural development. Each parish has its own unique, exquisite and exotic features that we must not compare. We're all Jamaicans.

The town needs to be upgraded to suit the bevelopment, you cannot have such development from kingston to the capital and it look like this.

I think it should move from there
Please don't move the market. Don't take it to the new development. The elderly will have challenges going over by the Goodyear complex. Yes upgrade!
