Great video. Just replicated the identical set up. The dealership commented that this was better than the ones they use at the dealer specific which is Revtek. Thanks for the insight and motivation.
@@gunneroffroad9850 Yeah they're really just a budget kit but in the long run you won't be satisfied because like you've said, the ride quality is compromised
SawGunner 505 Sorry about that. I almost did the Revtek since the dealer preferred it. I had to order all the parts separately, but it was worth it. Plus, Black Friday had some ridiculous mark downs so wait for sales if you can. All the best it all:)
@@everydaybettereverydaystronger Hey buddy! I'm one year in and still solid with this set up. There was a spacer plate added on top of the coilover in the video? Was it from Toytech? Does it make a difference to have this added? TY!
So the kDSs don’t caused the lean but the suspension itself, I have a 2018 ORP w/kdss and installed TRD PRo with 2.5 ToyTec kit and it did have almost 2” lean on the right rear and 1” on front, after a lot of research, measuring my OEM suspension I noticed my front suspension has even coils compare to non kdss and TRD Pro which the driver side has 1 less coil on the Off road and the link adjusted one click up on the TRO PRO, so if all suspension are even like OEM it Shouldn’t have problem with the lean, I’ll adjust my passenger one click up to make it even with the driver side and see what happen.
Thanks for posting and for the details. I like the product selection for this custom lift. It sounds like a great product combination and especially on a KDSS rig. I'm a little confused though about the front spacer though. So you've got a spring upgrade (spring rate and height) providing improved handling and height, plus a shock upgrade AND you're installing a spacer puck on top of all that awesomeness. Can you explain why the leveling spacer addition to the suspension lift, because in this suspension's geometry, the 0.5" leveling spacer will provide another 1" lift in the front. Is this to accommodate the OME rear 1.75" lift, so a lift AND level intent? So front is lifted (all told with spring, shock and spacer) with a 2.5" lift Toytec spring and an adjustable Eibach strut plus a 0.5" spacer yielding 3.5" front lift? And rear is (per 0:25, OME 2" rear...detail @ 5:35 suggests 1.75" lift OME PN:895E) and Eibach shock. So all told this is like 3.5 front 2ish rear? Lift and level. it looks great! thanks again for posting the details.
Did you ever have to manually adjust the KDSS for passenger side lean after this lift? The Aussies adjust their Land Cruisers with KDSS manually after their lifts of 3" and it seems really easy to do, if necessary after going higher than 1" in lift in the first place. Thanks! Great vid. I hope to lift my KDSS 4Runner this way as well.

I’ve got a 2013 GX460 with the KDSS system. Just recently lifted with OME suspension with 3 inches of lift. It’s developed the “KDSS Lean” to the right. Do you have any recommendations for correction of the lean? Thanks in advance!
3" on a 460. Sweet! I have an 07 GX470 sport (KDSS) and will eventually lift. I've been reading north of 2" is troublesome with KDSS. I suppose doing it all and correctly, (UCA with adjustable ball joints, proper struts/shocks rear and springs) it's okay but I wonder at what point the KDSS binds or can't match the suspension lift. Or is this not an issue? Ergo, does the KDSS maintain it's full travel with the lift, and therefore you keep the KDSS' added articulation AND get the suspension travel increase AND lif gains? RE: KDSS lean. I hear Bilstein is coming out with an adjustable 6112 front strut with several ride height adjustments, which can account for the KDSS lean. Compared to the 5100s (like 4 settings) I think the adjustable 6112 have like 7-8 settings (so you can account for 0.25" differences).... this might be an interesting option and the 6112 is more appropriate for the GS than the 5100....but the bulletproof of OME is deffinitely the gold standard!!!

hoping to get my 4R this week from Maui Toyota. I've been debating if I should go to Maui Off Road or IMM. seeing this I feel more comfortable coming here. How much does a kit like this cost?
None that I'm aware of. Holding up very well. Still ride amazing. I havent used those particularly Bilsteins so best bet is to get feedback from t4r.org
Great video looks bad ass i myself would have went higher with bigger tires have you evr done one of those with a six in lift with bigger tires would love to see one
Given that now you would use the Eibach Pro Truck lift kit intead of the OME springs in the back would you still use a spacer in the front given the rear is only 1 inch? I would think that make for some reverse rake effect. I am strongly considering the Eibach Pro Truck lift but want to put 285's on my 4Runner and am curious if that kit would be enough for that...any idea?
No because the newer Eibach coils give 2.75" of lift in the front vs we had the older version which gave 2.5". Check out the 4R forums thread here: www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/253184-eibach-pro-truck-lift.html
@@everydaybettereverydaystronger Thanks....would you still consider upgrading your UCA's and using a diff drop kit with this lift. Some people are saying its not necessary but seems like overall in the long term that would be a good thing to do since you have it all apart.
Good question. It only will if they (Toyota) deems a modification caused something to fail or break. In my 20+ years experience of owning/operating highly modified Toyota 4x4s, I've never had anything fail.. ever. Only thing I've warrantied was a battery going out before the initial 3 years was up.
@@everydaybettereverydaystronger I am curious how much $600 for uca's improve the ride. i have a 3" ome on mine... is it supposed to make it less sensitive when turning? what? I think mine rides fine and my lift guy aligns the front with a tape measurer.. probably the best alignment ive ever had, he did it on my old lift and never needed another until he just installed the OME lift.
The Toytec rear superflex coils were a bit too high (3") for me personally which still give the factory "rake" look so I opted for these which give 1.75" lift.
There are heaps of options. Best to research and get feedback from the 4Runner forum below. I personally like the stance and ride quality of the Eibach Pro lift kit: www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/253184-eibach-pro-truck-lift.html
I have I 2017 4Runner Trail Deluxe w/KDSS, after lifting with OME suspension rear and front I get a big lean on left passenger side, please any advise on who to fix that problem, KDSS cylinders look very tide up, no one even dealer dont know or dont want to deal with the problem and the shop that install the suspension have now idea. thanks for any advise.
Driver's side is LEFT. Generally you have the driver, engine battery and gas tank all on the same side so the left of the truck has more load than the right side. OME makes three different springs to handle weight. Lowest is OME2884 Front Coil Springs and then OME885 or OME2887 for heavier load applications. You may have to go to the stiffer springs contact whoever you bought the kit from or check if your KDSS can be adjusted to compensate.
Sounds like you have the front coils in reverse order from left to right because they design the driver side to be a tad higher to compensate the gas tank and driver weight. I'd double-check with ARB to see if they still design them that way. If not, than you need their trim packer on the driver side to correct the lean
@@everydaybettereverydaystronger hey just curious if you ever had to go back and cut that Body Mount after installing this wheel and tire combo? A few years later now so I'd understand if you couldn't tell me. But im looking to install the same combo on my 14 Trail edition. Thanks for the detailed video! Definitely helped me install my lift and manage the kdss.
Ok, I have another question. I have a 2017 TRDOFFROAD. Bone stock...I am trying to decide on a lift, wheels and tires. I love the ride of the stock suspension but I want the height and clearance of a lift. I read in this thread that you do not recommend spacers and coils only. So my question is...What is a good option for a full lift kit to maintain ride comfort, (I'll be 90% on road riding)? Also I want to bump up to 18 or 20 inch wheels...But how can I make it all fit and have minimal road noise increase? Very quiet cab being stock....Am I trying for a unicorn here? :):):) Advice is appreciated!!
I chose this particular suspension lift setup to maintain a comfortable ride while gaining height for the bigger tires which are an equal attribute in doing so. These tires are "D" rated which make them less heavy and stiff than a "E" rated tire which the majority of other tire brands are now. Also the more tire to wheel ratio you have makes a huge difference in ride quality. If your main concern is this, then definitely stay away from 20" wheels as they'll be hard as rocks because they have less cushion from speed bumps, pot holes, etc... Does you 4Runner have the KDSS suspension like this one? If yes, that also improves the ride quality. Check our follow up video to this: th-cam.com/video/PaUOahy7S8s/w-d-xo.html
Minimal but slightly noticeable. Personally I like it. If you're concerned with the tire noise, go with an all-terrain tire like BF Goodrich KO2 or similar less aggressive tread.
Thanks for sharing. Runner looks awesome. Im shopping for front shocks and im torn between the 5100s and Eibach Pro Trucks. How have the Eibachs fared so far and why did you go with Eibachs over Bils? Mahalo.
I've had both and they ride very similar but we wanted to try something different and Eibach sponsored it so couldn't go wrong. They ride awesome, solid but not stiff
That's a little more than here. Average pricing for installation here in Hawaii: $100 per side for UCA, $150 for alignment, $500 for suspension lift for a total of $850
I live on the beach and my FOX coil overs, literately snapped in 1/2 on each side from rust. What is the best coil over that wont rust? Also can you use a spacer lift on a KDSS?
Not sure about the rust issue. Sounds like you live some where super salty! I'd say fresh water rinsing often is a given because FOX makes solid products. Yes you can use spacer kits with KDSS but we wouldn't because they usually ride like hell. Do it right the 1st time with a quality upgraded shock/coilover like Eibach, Bilstein, Toytec, OME, Icon, etc..
Thank you for the reply, I agree spacer lift is 1/2 ass but im leasing for my 1st time because my FJ that I put 10k in modifications rusted so bad it was almost worth less. So before I go mod crazy Im basically doing a 3 year rust test. If I have rust issues I give back to Toyota is it has no rust Ill buy it. So for 3 years Spacer lift and larger tires is a band-aid. Yes I live right on the beach with a tiny garage everything rusts. But 75 degrees all year is a fair trade,

how will the parts list change if I want a 2" suspension lift on my 2018 toyota 4 runner SR5, wanting the 285 / 70/ R17 AT tires. I know this setup is more affordable than you new 2017 TRD PRO TOYEC 2" Lift. Will this still work for these tire size ? 3" lift seems a bit high for my wife to step in.
Don't use the front coils and set the Eibach shock clip at 2". The rear you'd have to either use a 1" coil spacer or get another OME coil that's .75" shorter
I decided to go wit the same 3" lift you have on this video for my toyota 4 runner SR5 2018. I notices that you use diferent shocks for the rear. E60-82-008-02-01 ( 0-1" lift ) is this correct. since the front ones you posted are E60-82-008-02-10 (0-3" lift). and will this work ok since my 4 runner is not TRD but SR5 ? By the way GREAT VIDEO !!
It's possible the part number may have changed but honestly not sure. I'd contact Eibach directly for fitment help. And thanks for the compliment on the vid =)
How does the 4runner ride on the road? Is it better then stock or the same? Also where did you get the diff drop? Did you have to do anything to the inner fenders due to rubbing?
FREEDOMEDIA Do you order all the parts separately or does it come in a kit? Will this work on a 2018 TRD OFF-ROAD 4Runner? We have a 4-wheelparts here in Albuquerque.
No such thing as KDSS lean. It's actually just driver side lean, like the rest: Tacoma, FJ, etc.. but not with this one as we did the top plate spacers
Only thing I would do is drop the front a bit. I think they look much better with the back higher than the front. Always looks like it has weight in the back if it isn't like that.
To achieve a full 3" lift as I did not want to preload the Toytec coil with the Eibach shock's clip settings. Top plate spacers offer lift without compromising the ride quality
Gotcha. Would you say it's the same concept behind bilstein 5100 front shocks as well? A .5" spacer for a full 3" lift while keeping clip on the bottom notch? Thanks!

hoping to get my 4R this week from Maui Toyota. I've been debating if I should go to Maui Off Road or IMM. seeing this I feel more comfortable coming here. How much does a kit like this cost?
Does those Eibac need service after certain a period of miles? How they holding up? Are they better than Billstein 6112 and 5160?
None that I'm aware of. Holding up very well. Still ride amazing. I havent used those particularly Bilsteins so best bet is to get feedback from t4r.org
Where does someone go to have parts installed? I'm not that knowledgeable about automotive-related things but I'm hoping to start learning about it
Find a local 4WP shop: www.4wheelparts.com/
So 4 coils total?
Yes
Great video looks bad ass i myself would have went higher with bigger tires have you evr done one of those with a six in lift with bigger tires would love to see one
Can't do a 6" on these 4Runners with KDSS
FREEDOMEDIA the kdss is totally worth the loss of height!
do you guys have any photos anywhere online of this truck? Love the wheels and would love to see em on a runner at other angles
Here you go Brandon:

+FREEDOMEDIA just what I needed, thank you much boss!!
Question: when you lift your 4Runner or upgrading suspension what does it mean? Are you lifting only the body or also lifting the axle too?
Sorry just saw your question! Lifting the suspension only.
How much would this project cost minus tires and wheels?
About a grand for parts. $500 to install
FREEDOMEDIA where are you guys located?
Maui Off-Road 4x4 Center here on Oahu and Maui
FREEDOMEDIA can I do the same setup on an sr5
Absolutely. This setup will work on all models
so it's been lifted for about 10 months so far... how has the lift held up?.. any adjustments made?.. anything to watch for?
Lift is holding up very well. I added 1" body lift and swapped tires out for wider ones. I'll put putting another video out soon with that install
Where do i purchase the 1 inch body lift
Question: does a project like this void the manufacturer's warranty at all?
Good question. It only will if they (Toyota) deems a modification caused something to fail or break. In my 20+ years experience of owning/operating highly modified Toyota 4x4s, I've never had anything fail.. ever. Only thing I've warrantied was a battery going out before the initial 3 years was up.
Rob Mullins
You lift it you buy it
Have the dealership install it and it wont.
Do you know the height of 4 runner after lift
Very cool. Thanks. One question, how does a 3" front and 1.75" rear lift balance out? It doesn't make sense.
Thanks. Because the factory suspension rake in the front is considerably lower than the back
That looks so beautiful
Ome & bilstein say you don’t need uca’s for their lift kits. Why does this one say it needs them?
It’s not required just recommended 🤙🏼
@@everydaybettereverydaystronger I am curious how much $600 for uca's improve the ride. i have a 3" ome on mine... is it supposed to make it less sensitive when turning? what? I think mine rides fine and my lift guy aligns the front with a tape measurer.. probably the best alignment ive ever had, he did it on my old lift and never needed another until he just installed the OME lift.
Any issues with wheel rubbing against the control arm? Did you use any wheel spacers?
No rubbing and we did not use wheel spacers
Why did you guys go with the OME rear springs instead of the toytec, or Eibach?
The Toytec rear superflex coils were a bit too high (3") for me personally which still give the factory "rake" look so I opted for these which give 1.75" lift.
i have a 2017 TRD off road 4runner with kdss. I want to get a lift put in. I don't know what what I don't know at this point. any suggestions.
There are heaps of options. Best to research and get feedback from the 4Runner forum below. I personally like the stance and ride quality of the Eibach Pro lift kit:
www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/253184-eibach-pro-truck-lift.html
would it be possible to get a parts list with part numbers?...
Triet, check the video description box as it's all in there now
No rear panhard rod adjustment needed on a 3" inch lift??
No because we only lifted the rear 1.75"
I have I 2017 4Runner Trail Deluxe w/KDSS, after lifting with OME suspension rear and front I get a big lean on left passenger side, please any advise on who to fix that problem, KDSS cylinders look very tide up, no one even dealer dont know or dont want to deal with the problem and the shop that install the suspension have now idea. thanks for any advise.
Driver's side is LEFT. Generally you have the driver, engine battery and gas tank all on the same side so the left of the truck has more load than the right side. OME makes three different springs to handle weight. Lowest is OME2884 Front Coil Springs
and then OME885 or OME2887 for heavier load applications.
KDSS has no adjustment. You are correct about the driver side compensation.
Any issues with the 285's hitting the body mounts?
No but haven't fully flexed the suspension on a trail yet. We did have to trim a small amount of plastic from the bottom front corners of the plastic.
Yes it does have KDSS.
How is the road noise after these exact mods?
Thats a GREAT thing because much better ride and performance than non-KDSS =)
Would those rear coils work on a 2001 4Runner?
Possibly but best to ask ARB directly: www.arbusa.com
Where do you put the spare tire?
How do you guys like the Eibach shocks vs the Bilstein 5100's? I'm between the two and would love to hear your opinion!! Thanks!!
Love them. Solid yet not stiff shocks. They're progressive valved vs digressive like Bilstein.
how much did this kit go for?.. or is it a put together ala cart.. the out come of the truck looks great.. wow good job
About a grand for parts. $500 to install
My local shop quoted me for 1k for labor to install a very similar set up and alignment. Am I being ripped off?
That's a little more than here. Average pricing for installation here in Hawaii: $100 per side for UCA, $150 for alignment, $500 for suspension lift for a total of $850
What size lift and how much would it cost to get this exact setup done also how much time before it could be picked up again thanks.
This is a 3" lift. Best bet is to call Jeff at Maui Off-Road 808-678-9500 for a quote as we are just the production company that films these videos.
But 75 degrees all year is a fair trade,
This is a suspension lift right?
Do you have to offset the tires on a 4Runner when you get a 3” lift? Thanks
Offset of the wheels are -6 with 4.75 backspacing
How much does it cost to lift like that ?
I'm a newbie, got my 4Runner 2yrs ago but I'm afraid shops might mess up my KDSS.Hope you guys have shops in Orange County,do you know any shop here in OC you can refer me to?
Look up your local 4Wheelparts.com dealer as they have years of experience
What's the typical price for an install like this? (Not including parts)
With the UCA, usually around $500-850 depending on the shop and if it includes alignment after.
Hi, where you locate? is it possible you can update my 2016 4runner limited like this? Please provide offer.
Here on Oahu, Hawaii. Are you on island?
Awesome vid. Any suggestions on LCA replacement for KDSS? My stock LCAs are failing, apparently that’s common at 35k to 40k miles.
That is news to us as we haven't heard of LCA failures yet
how will the parts list change if I want a 2" suspension lift on my 2018 toyota 4 runner SR5, wanting the 285 / 70/ R17 AT tires.
Looking to get a 4runner trail, hate the stock rims. What was on that one? or can you recommend and. No chrome please. Thanks
6:02 in the video and also written in the video description.
Any wheel spacers used on this? What is the backspacing and offset on those wheels?
No spacers. Wheel info: www.procompusa.com/wheels-product-details.aspx?pt=101508&lc=PXA&pqq=2336-1558-1551-1557&pqa=14099-14288-8059-8268
How does the 4runner ride on the road? Is it better then stock or the same? Also where did you get the diff drop? Did you have to do anything to the inner fenders due to rubbing?
Rides awesome, better than stock. Diff drop from Toytec. Had to trim the forward plastic inside front fenders only
How do you order this kit? Sorry I'm a newbie, great job it looks great!
4wheelparts.com
FREEDOMEDIA Do you order all the parts separately or does it come in a kit? Will this work on a 2018 TRD OFF-ROAD 4Runner? We have a 4-wheelparts here in Albuquerque.
Sorry I somehow missed your follow-up question. Order everything separate. Yes it'll fit on the PRO
Will the sway bar requirre the relocation brackets?
Can't relocate KDSS sway bar brackets as it's a fixed
hydraulic system
Right, I guess I may need the brackets since i dnt have the KDSS systme.
how much would this all cost with parts and labor and alignment at your shop?
Seth Bard looking around $4500 for parts & labor minus alignment as we don't do in house
I am assuming this figure is not factoring the wheels and tires?
do tires rub? If so do you need to do body mount chop?
No won't rub with these wheel/tire setup on the body mount. Any wider and it will
Are you running spacer on that truck or does the wheel offset move them out to that stance?
No spacers
Hey just a question did that runner end up with a kdss lean after the 3-inch lift?
No such thing as KDSS lean. It's actually just driver side lean, like the rest: Tacoma, FJ, etc.. but not with this one as we did the top plate spacers
Can u keep the stock uca with this kit
Yes you can 👍🏼
Yes you can but should upgrade if going over 2.5”
Only thing I would do is drop the front a bit. I think they look much better with the back higher than the front. Always looks like it has weight in the back if it isn't like that.
It actually is about 1/4" lower in the front
I have a 2016 limited. I would like to get for it a much softer suspension. Do you know if there is any kind of suspension like that available?
I think the Limited comes with the premium KDSS or is at-least an option. It doesn't get much softer than that except maybe in an Escalade.
Why did you guys go with the .5" spacer in the front?
To achieve a full 3" lift as I did not want to preload the Toytec coil with the Eibach shock's clip settings. Top plate spacers offer lift without compromising the ride quality
Gotcha. Would you say it's the same concept behind bilstein 5100 front shocks as well? A .5" spacer for a full 3" lift while keeping clip on the bottom notch? Thanks!
Yes the exact same
I also installed my 2016 trail 4runner, the bay area where has your store?
We are in Hawaii, specifically Oahu & Maui.
nice video! which offset are the wheels? am guessing -12? thanks!
4.75 backspace with -6 offset. I updated the video description with the info. Thanks for the question
@@everydaybettereverydaystronger will a 17x8.5 0 offset fit on a 2018 4 Runner without major rubbing? I don't rub now but I'm running 285/70/17's on Pro wheels. However, I'm about 1.5 inches from the stock UCA's. Do you think I'll rub the UCA's? Thanks!
Can you do the same lift for a 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport?
Yes call the shop (808) 678-9500
Thanks! Will come to the shop in a couple days to make an appointment for install. Already have wheels and tires!
How much $$ did this run?
Thank you!! how are does SPC UCA holding up? ive ordered the same kit! just debating on the rims between the black trd wheels or the pro comps with 33' ST MAXXs
SPC holding up solid! Definitely recommended
FREEDOMEDIA what's the difference between this and the total chaos UCA
Any rubbing issues with this setup?
No, but with 285s it's standard to have to remove the front mud flaps and push the inner wheel well liner forward. So yes if you don't want to do that
FREEDOMEDIA Thank you so much for the reply!
Did you measure how tall the vehicle was? I like mod but want to make sure will still fit in garage.
Yes you'll need a minimum of 6'4" (76")
Is the diff drop absolutely needed and is it hard to install?
No but highly recommended as it'll greatly reduce the angle on the CV axles and wheel bearings. Very simple to install with just a floor jack and set of sockets. Here is a link to buy one from the Supreme Suspension 1" Differential Drop: amzn.to/3o0heh7
