Axial Wraith 1.9 - Rock this Beach!

- Hitting the rocks on the beach at Corona Del Mar with the new Axial Racing Wraith 1.9! The familiar Wraith chassis looks great with the nicely proportioned AR44 axles under it. The Nitto tires were fighting the sandy conditions which is not a friend of any tire! The truck is completely stock in this video, but that will all change soon as we start to dive deep into customization. Stay tuned.

This little rig does well. Think I’ll wait to see what Axial comes out with next. My RC budget has gone out the window lately with the Marlin and the 79 Blazer haha.

I know I am one of maybe 6 guys that really liked the original wraith, it looks like a great rig but I am still not sure if I like it. perhaps I will change my mind if I have it in hand. Great driving though
I want one of these rigs!! I am planning for this to be the rig that gets me into the RC obsession
I've had mine for 2 weeks now and I can't go anywhere without it. It is my first rig.
Some things to note is that the stock wheels and tires aren't great. I bought some aluminum beadlock wheels, dueatrax deep woods tires and some wheel weights as my first upgrades. The rear shocks are also weak along with the servo horn so be ready to upgrade.

Hey . Thought I would comment on this vid as its quite recent. My question is ,I'm just getting into crawling and I'm contemplating the scx10.2 ,I want to customise it mainly for the vanquish portals. So my next question is, should I just buy a rtr or get the kit ,as I won't have all the parts needed when I first purchase it. Anyway love the channel thanks.
That’s one of those tough questions to answer. A RTR is nice to start with because you can just change a part at a time and make sure it works well and still have a running truck. Where as with a kit you need to sort out other options and hope that it all works in the end. If you’re already experienced in RC, than I expect a kit would be no problem for you.
@@HarleyDesignsInc I've had bashers in the past, t Maxx,hpi hellfire etc. The idea of being able to build the kit myself from the ground up is appealing. Anyway since I have your ear, for a pure crawler what other rigs do you recommend ( vs4-10 is out of my budget 🙄). Thanks for the reply
Like what this truck does, just a plastic chassis is odd to me. I understand it, but a metal one would make it cooler lol.

I have no idea if this will ever be a Builders Kit. I’d assume not, since Axial doesn’t really offer everything in kit form. I wouldn’t wait personally.

Why didn't Axial do all the changes (moving the battery forward, opening hoods, etc) to the original wraith after all these years? The wraith is still the top class 3 rig to me, and I would live to try out some U4RC with it. I can't wait for the 1.9 wraith I ordered to get here, but my OG wraith is still probably one of my all time favorite rigs.
I'm a noob, are you a really skilled driver or is the wraith more capable than one might think? Or both? Great lil' video.
The truck can be very capable if driven well. I of course want to make a video that is entertaining, but this is still a 100% stock vehicle as shown.
Not so much a crawler as it looks to be more a rock bouncer also Harley do you feel the body material will hold up it's like paper thin. otherwise I wouldn't mind getting this rig
I think it’s a solid crawler but my driving and video style just makes it appear more bouncer-like. I love to shoot lines! I haven’t noticed the body being any thinner than normal but I guess I’ve only had it for a couple weeks so I can’t say yet.

Agreed that location makes me envious. I've found nothing like that yet where I'm at outside of St Louis Missouri. I shop at Mark Twain Hobby it's a great place.
I’m from Missouri, there are some decent places around you within a short drive. Have you done elephant park yet?
Mike J I wasn’t yet into RC at the time, but I lived in St. Louis for four years, and managed to go backpacking at St. Francois State Park, which had some nice rocky areas.
Unfortunately I'm north of Troy and those are several hours away but I may have to plan a trip to them soon. Especially since I bought a RedCat Gen8 today and already scratched and put it wheels up 3 times on Mark Twain Hobby's rock course soon after buying it. (Never left the parking lot) thanks for the park info tho

Different trucks for sure, this one has a great style and that makes it near the top of my list.

Excellent video! What speed did you slow it down to? Looks perfect. Nice driving.
I varied it over many clips, most are full speed, some are 80% and some of the high frame rate clips are as low as 25%.
Great video, would I gain much by adding the new Wraith to my collection over my scx10ll performance wise?
Aesthetically I think they look quite similar on the trail.
I think the style is quite different, being that this replicates a tube chassis crawler much more. Performance could be very similar in the end but I do like the balance of this one slightly better.

Love your channel, love your videos. I am just confused about this truck. I love the opening hood, optional scale turbos, and just the overall body of the truck. I just don't get what makes this truck any different from an scx10ii. I know it's frame is more rail-like than the scx10's c channel chassis. I just feel like the 2.2 wraith is vastly different than an scx10, and I understood it. The only 1.9 wraith builds I ever saw where the result of guys wanting to shorten the ar60's and run them on their comp truck, so they had a wraith body sitting around and a set of OG scx10 axles that weren't doing anything, so they combined them for s's and g's. I think this new 1.9 wraith is cool, and if someone doesn't have an scx10ii already, it might be a great choice. I just don't think I am fully understanding the role of this truck in lineup. If I am missing the point (and I probably am), please correct me.
I find this to be much more scale in the way that it’s like the full size rock buggies that I’m familiar with. An SCX10 can’t replicate what a hardcore full-size crawler is built like without a ton of custom tube work. So for those that like the style of fully built trail rigs, rock bouncers, U4 style trucks, etc, then this really fills that huge void in the more popular 1.9 market.

I love axials RCs but I think they really miss the mark on prices, they would sell the crap out of these if they were the same price as the deadbolt, which the deadbolt is actually more raw material and parts than this for axial to make. It's like they have a wheel with their prices like 299 and 369 and 409 and they just spin it and price it at whatever it lands on lol.
triangleswinger RC to be fair a lot of this truck is new design, they didn't just switch out axles and wheels, and all axial stuff is quality, you get what you pay for.
There is actually a lot more to this. Stamped frame rails aren’t much to do, where as a big cage like this isn’t as cheap as many would think being that its injection molded. Plus it has the regular body and the interior, and metal gears in the trans like the JK. I think it fits in its price point once you really start looking at all the factors.
Also consider that the RTR Honcho is $329.99, and comes with LED’s and metal gear transmission, similarly, yet the new Wraith 1.9 comes with a revised/new tube chassis, wheel wells, and considerable extra scale detail, and is just $40 more. I personally think $349 would’ve been more appealing, considering the current competition (i.e. Venture FJ, which similarly has a good deal of plastic...$339).
@@rcdabbler the only really scale detail is the opening hood, the tube chassis is plastic so how do they justify 370$ when like I said the deadbolt comes at least with a metal frame. I like the rig but it's not worth over 300$ no way not with the prices other companies have. I would much rather get a trx4 sport for 340$ you get way, way more for your money. Like you said the honcho comes with more and is still cheaper lol, there isn't much at all to these wraiths compared to a scx10ii so I think Axial is just trying to get as much as they can because well they know they can.
@@mikes062 I've had the 2017 crc scx10ii 409$ and you do not get what you pay for. Cheesy skinny links all plastic pivot balls everywhere, plastic crappy shocks and a insanely thin cheap body, but yeah I guess 409$ lmao I'm just glad I got it for free from a friend sponsored by Axial so I sold it. I'm am always around axials (all models) old and new because like I said where I work we share the building with Casey Currie and his shop is literally an Axial warehouse lmao, the are all plastic all of them. They come over priced and then you have to spend another 200$ or more to get it decent. I like Axial I just think they have their head up their you know what when they price things.
Hahaha...its an Axial. Keep driving it like that and your gonna have to buy stock in replacement plastic parts!
