Dear new Tamiya CEO, Reissue a handful of vehicles, discontinue them for a number of years, Reissue a handful of them again, shatter the hearts of millions who think their o.g. tamiya vehicles are worth their weight in gold...🤠
A proper Ultra4 rig is missing. Spooled rear & centre diffs, unlocking / locking front diff and maybe a 2spd gearbox with a crawler ratio & go fast ratio.
Honestly, the biggest thing missing from this industry is standards: battery connectors, motor mount patterns, esc connectors. There should be standards for each scale, the same where possible. Would really improve the hobby for all the fans and the manufacturers.
Hey Josh! Thanks so very much for carrying on with the SNU each week! It is a wealth of information about our hobby and I am sure I am not the only person who looks forward to it each week! 🛻
If anything is really missing it is more scale axles, transmissions and transfer cases. The Curry is cool and Yota axles be Yota axles, but there really isn't the one ton and up axles in the market. Dana 60s or 14 bolt GM, top load 2 1/2 ton Rockwells (I know RC4WD made one, but someone needs to make an actual bullet proof one. 4 or 6s with monster truck tires bullet proof.) Maybe some scale Atlas II or NP205 transfer cases. And more bodies. Yes licensing is a pain, but they don't have to make huge runs of less popular body styles. Everyone probably still has molds or pucks from older bodies they could do some runs on every once and a while.
I would like to see more Scale transmission options. A modular axle system with various widths and offsets for front and rear. A dig unit that could be adapted to fit most current transmissions. Lastly the buggy scene overtake sorrca as the preferred competition so more companies will support buggy builds with cool new innovative parts.
Tamiya does it their way. It would be nice to see a scale crawler / trail truck form them. They made the first all metal truck back in the 80's and you would think being a plastic company they could make something. Heck even work from the Bruiser chassis and make it with plastic axles and a plastic transmission housing. I love all my Tamiya's and keep building them.
I think the name change happened because pretty much everyone agreed that it shouldn’t run in the Mudboss class. As far as spec racing is concerned it does fit better in the Mod class, with some mods.
That Sparc Drive is really a cool idea and looks like a heck of a unit. Not sure its for any of my rigs, but its good to see innovation is still going. I think even more scale is what we could use, true scale transmissions, true scale axles (because theres way more axles than Toyota and Dana 44s), even a shiftable transfer case, scale NP205 or Dana 300 cases with high and low range, that might elimintate the slop in 2 speed transmissions *cough* RC4WD *cough*. I should edit, using the transfercase with a single speed transmission, not the transfer case fixing the 2 speed slop problem.
Shouldn't be too hard to implement, since we already have a data stream coming back from the receiver. Could be done with accelerometers. However, it would take new firmware on the receiver or a module that can talk in the right language to get the accelerometer data into the telemetry stream, and a module that accepts the data and interprets it into commands for feedback servos on the wheel and trigger. The actual implementation is over my head, though. I just make light boards :P
It could even be simplified to just a load sensing of the amperage pulled through the servo. Would be easy to do that way and it would just be basic telemetry to the radio. I don’t know the sampling rate of the radio telemetry which could be the only big issue.
@@HarleyDesignsInc That could work. There are already current sensors for a few radios, though I don't know which ones. I'm sure someone that knows more about it than me could figure out a way to implement it in EdgeTX for the MT12. Then it would just need a servo in the radio to add force to the wheel and a microcontroller to contol it.
As far as Losi not sending out Super Lasernuts to be tested. I'm not upset. I put a LOT more stock into reviews by channels that buy their own rigs to test. Unconscious bias exist. Even worse is those that would exaggerate positive or downplay negative in hopes of gaining favor or fear of getting cut off. If you pay attention while acknowledging your own possible bias you can tell who is testing free stuff most of the time even if they don't tell you.
You're going to hate this answer: Accessible axle leaf mounts are missing from the market place. I had to design and print my own. So it was a win for the fun of the project 😂.
What's missing is public spots to run RC. We need crawling places and some open dirt in more local parks. I'm not calling people sheep, but when folks see others doing something, they tend to want to do it too. I'd like to see hobbies normalized, rather than on the fringe. Getting RC out and in front of people would help do that. (and we don't need new models of RC cars. It's already overwhelming for folks new to it.)
Oh Josh, love your channel. I love the news you report for the whole hobby the mud boss should’ve just been called a dirt oval car as we know there are lots of types of them, because that’s what it is ! My brother keep reporting all the news ,and updates
We allways need new Hardbodys. Maybe some not Jeep, Rover, Toyota ones. 😅 And we need a universal Battery plug. One to rule the all. Like in the smartphone industry after years with usb-c. That would make things easier!
I really want 1.7" street tires, basicly HPI Cup Racer tires with threads. Sometimes M chssis tires has too much sidewall, 1.9" too big and Cup Racer size is perfect. I do as many on road projects as off road..
I want to see a couple things, First, some kind of unibody, but for specialized cars, basically scale models because I know it wont be for everyone. Second a realistic shock for crawlers, a shock that makes the body rock and move like a real vehicle. I know we have the SuperScale servo system. But that only works on a few cars and is quite expensive. I want something simple and universal. Last Flexible body mounts, for crawlers, this may not be ideal but for bashers I think it could really help the longevity of your body. Instead of a hard plastic body mount, it's a rubberized or flexible plastic. Removing stress from your lexan bodies making them last longer.
Hub motors. That is the tech that is missing from surface RC. Can you imagine a comp crawler with a motor at each wheel. You could adjust your speed ratio and breaking for each wheel on the fly. You could make that torque vectoring axle setup obsolete with simple electronic controls. Not to mention the weight distribution. No more motor or gearbox up high, it would even be better than a MoA. And the ground clearance, no pumpkin to get in the way, just a solid bar as an axle. Hell, you could even curve the rear axle to get all the rear clearance you want.
Hi Josh, I appreciate the scale news update. It is a great source of information each week. I don't have a suggestion for tech but I do have a suggestion for a website that is needed in the RC community. It would be great to have a site to go to find and sort RC tires by all of the parameters. Brand, inner diameter, most importantly outer diameter, width, compound, reviews, web links, etc. It would make shopping for tires a lot easier. Does a site like this already exist?
From what I know about how japanese businesses operate, new boss is actually a huge chance for things to change. Sparc Drive axles seem interesting, they'll make about a dozen people really happy. What I'm missing is more options for smaller scale brushless crawler motors and a more premium 1/12th scale crawler
Surprised you didn’t mention the new direct drop in cage for the optic.i know ur not a huge fan of RC Speedy but this one looks really good. I’m actually currently building an R2 from them and the welds on the cage look just fine. Guess time will tell how good they really are. But man this one looks sooo good.im having a hard time controlling my urges to push that purchase button! But I think it would be a great Friday night build, no.
Dirt Oval is a pretty tight knit group. I'm sure Traxxas saw immediate pushback on the name and smartly decided that customers are more important than stepping on toes.
A nice Chevy Silverado truck from the 90s... with some nice hard plastic details... Everybody in the world knows that truck but nobody gives it to us... and they have licenses...what a shame
The sparc drive idea is super cool, but I don't think its really worth it in this scale. However, the idea to have it in a fully independent suspension crawler would be something I'd be way more interested in.
A Fpv rock crawler from vanquish or fpv crawler comps with on track spotters … it works so well… especially as a winch comp… the spotter runs the winch line and the driver still controls it… we did it with mobile phones and a big screen tv but fpv would be heaps better 👍👍
I saw Cody Wagonner post on the 'Gram about the Super but couldn't find that post when I went back to share it.i haven't tried since. Did they jump the gun?
I got the feeling that LOSI was gun-shy to promote the Super Lasernut fully because the original was such a poop-show in terms of reliability. Maybe they want to let the early adopters/influencers have a go at it, then once the reliability shakes out, do a media blitz. Tank turn ability is great for.....tanks....hope they come greased...
Missing 2.2 and ultra 4. The market has gone full trail/comp trucks but the market is missing yeti style rigs, more 2.2 bomber style rigs. Rc4wd tried with the miller but that thing flopped. We need more quality 2.2 solid/ifs ultra4/trail rigs
What’s Missing in RC? A Double Deck Trailer! I want to tow my 4wd and 2wd Buggies with my Crawler together! I called RC4WD and asked if they’d make one, they said no :(
Fingers crossed Tamiya rc development gets a good shake up. It seems like they dropped the ball about 20 years ago and have been living in the past. BBS is the exception sure.
Honestly, I watched all of the bodies made for Drag Racing wheel base. To be honest, I would love to see some 10th scale bodies of vintage muscle cars with realistic details for the average 1/10 scale street RC. (Ie. 10" WB) I know there's company's out thee making Trans Am bodies, but they have a limited year range. I'd love to see a stock Vega or Ranchero. If they can make an Impala, why can't anyone make a Buick GS?
Absolutely! There are already a TON of custom H10s in the Facebook group, including mine, but I would have rather built a kit. The only reason I clicked buy so fast (within 2 hours of launch) was that I was already looking for something to turn into a U4 truck. I've already stretched it ~10mm on both ends, changed out wheels for aluminum beadlocks, threw in a Fusion Pro, swapped the receiver for one that I can't remember what it is, because I have an MT12, so brands are meaningless :P, and wrapped it with a Norwegian flag on the roof :D
Thanks Josh for about 2yrs I would wake up and be the first to watch these videos. I was addicted to be first view lol I have screenshot from all of them lol
I know what is missing, is a way for Spectrum to justify there prices now that the Radiomaster MT12 is out. Spectrum’s quality isn’t even half that of an MT12. I can’t even give my Spectrum equipment away.
Good stuff, as always, Josh! Not holding out much hope that Tamiya will change any. At least, it can't get any worse, right? 😉 Btw, welcome to the radio wars, Spektrum, could you be any later to the game?! I mean, unless this thing comes in significantly below the offerings from Futaba and Sanwa, they're just kidding themselves!
Looking for more all in one motors. The fusions are awesome but I want to see more options and brands in that market. I wonder how many people's Alexa's just ordered razors btw...😂😂😂
nah, I think whoever is interested roughly knows what to expect of the the lasernut from its smaller brother; losi knows this, and also forecasts general market demand for their large scale rtrs (e.g. Super Rock Rey , Baja Rey, thus they probably conclude extra marketing costs would not even cover whatever extra lasernut sales
Interestingly enough, Salvas Mudboss has a Trademark filed June 21, 2024, that is now live. And it was pretty shitty of Traxxass to do what they did. Salvas tried to get Traxxass involved to work on the prject together, but Traxxass decided they could do it without them and cut them out. I know why, but it's quite annoying to see Traxxass continually defended. I highly doubt Traxxass willingly gave up the name and had to rebrand this product.
They probably changed the name for the people who aren’t super into rc and know of a mudboss class and were trying to run the car through mud like it’s a sling king.
Y s welder is a great hobby machine. Cheap, but not a cheaply made machine. Lots of features you have to pay attention to least twice as much for in a Hobart or another big brand.
Apparently we need more manufacturers of extended driveshafts that are not cut to length! The few that do sell them, do not have em or all the parts to complete a set. Seriously ridiculous…finally ordered cut to lengths from Dlux, and one of em is bent like WTF! I coulda bought another rig for what I have into finding a matching set. The incisions are just short, my luck! Any suggestions? Goin in custom Capra with Vanquish 3gear and dig unit. Thanks dude, don’t ever quit doing these news segments, we would be lost!
Electric cutting breaks /drag break /front dig /rear dig/servo actuated hydro simulated leveling system. Why not adjustable wheel base from the tx. 😂 Where does it stop. Makes me think rc will be like 1:1 soon and will all be looking for a trail finder with single speed and leafs soon.
JIS is Japanese industrial standard.. it's really good hardware.. you just have to use the proper head.. people don't understand that Philips heads come in different sizes as well as JIS.. as far as bearings go.. Tamiya rntry level kits are meant to be "hopped up" that's the whole point.
I feel like a 2wd/4wd lockable on the fly transfer case is missing. I know the comp guys would have no interest in a 2wd/4wd transfer case much like I have no interest in dig.
I think what's missing is a new release from element RC, I would love to see them release a truck with improved axles that don't have socket head hardware on the backside of the axle where the pinion goes in and for them to make a more budget friendly rtr or builders kit again, as well as introduce a portal axle. They've made great products in the passed n still do but I wish certain updates would be made. As always thank you for the videos, very informative and enjoyable to watch.
Element is run by the Taiwanese owners now, I wouldn't count on anything innovative or much improved. They may make cheaper versions though, but who knows if the retail cost will actually come down with it.
Wasn't the Lasernut Losi's RYFT ? Nothing but problems, so by extension, Super Problems ? Curious in the way that people who go to auto racing for the crashes. 😆 It looks awesome, but you know what they say "Once burned twice shy".
Dear new Tamiya CEO,
Reissue a handful of vehicles, discontinue them for a number of years, Reissue a handful of them again, shatter the hearts of millions who think their o.g. tamiya vehicles are worth their weight in gold...🤠
Also find a clip less body setup
A proper Ultra4 rig is missing. Spooled rear & centre diffs, unlocking / locking front diff and maybe a 2spd gearbox with a crawler ratio & go fast ratio.

Me too!
I second that! ❤❤❤ I enjoy scale news more than about anything! 😊 I’m huge Harley fan anyway haha 💯🤘🏻😛
As a hobby store employee, this is where I get the majority of my fresh RC info.
Licensed 2.2 tires and a fully machined premium crawler.
Wouldn’t that be the Ripper 2? Damn tease! Lol
Hopefully the new Tamiya CEO means we finally get a rere falcon, and blazing blazer
And maybe the Dyna series. The super astute meant most parts needed were allready there
The Blazing Blazer, and really any of their 80's 4x4's need an update/rerelease yesterday.
If anything is really missing it is more scale axles, transmissions and transfer cases. The Curry is cool and Yota axles be Yota axles, but there really isn't the one ton and up axles in the market. Josh: ‘that’s it for the spektrum radio - we will see what it is in a couple weeks unless tower leaks it before’
Thanks for covering the Super Lasernut. Very interesting..
snowmobile, and missing some good 2.2 MOA crawler kits and 2.2 tire options.
Also I’d love a 5” 1.9 tire option.
I always look forward to the scale news. Thanks, Josh.
I would hope Tamiyas young CEO will bring the brand into current times and still keep the reissues as I'm sure they're profitable.
I think the name change happened because pretty much everyone agreed that it shouldn’t run in the Mudboss class. As far as spec racing is concerned it does fit better in the Mod class, with some mods.

Radio feed back to provide a steering and throttle feel
Ive never heard someone suggest this, but I love it. What a rad idea, just like we have in sim racing.

We need more of you dude. More Americans making parts in America.
The modified makes more sense because it’s an open wheel modified stock car . Mud boss makes me think crawler or monster truck
The mudboss class has been around for a long time.
What's missing is public spots to run RC. We need crawling places and some open dirt in more local parks. A Taunting Truck..a fart noise, tut tut tut.. or
Whamp Whaa...!
When it flips or rolls over.
We need a 1/10 semi from Tamiya! Maybe with the new President?
12:50 sounds like it has a steering detector for the unlocking
It uses the PWM signal from the RX to modulate the amount of vectoring.
Oh Josh, love your channel. I love the news you report for the whole hobby the mud boss should’ve just been called a dirt oval car as we know there are lots of types of them, because that’s what it is ! My brother keep reporting all the news ,and updates

Hard scale bodies painted.
That map is much needed.
I think large scale like the scx6 are missing from the hobby I love mine more than my 1/10 crawlers but the h10 has me running that a lot now
I really want 1.7" street tires, basicly HPI Cup Racer tires with threads. Sometimes M chssis tires has too much sidewall, 1.9" too big and Cup Racer size is perfect.

I would like to see a 6th scale buggy! “H6 Optic”
Losi has stoppet his promo-campaine , because Vitavon isn‘t ready yet…😂
I'm still waiting for a large-scale rip saw... Or any fast tracked vehicle

Traxxas doesn't care in the slightest about what the customers think. Evidence: their electronics.
A nice Chevy Silverado truck from the 90s... with some nice hard plastic details... Everybody in the world knows that truck but nobody gives it to us... and they have licenses...what a shame
The gmt400 body was awesome, would love a suburban/Tahoe too
Didn’t Panda make a Dale Ernhardt Nascar back in the ‘80s? I remember building and painting one.
More licensed and scale and detail looking Toyota bodies and some Nissan bodies for crawlers in all scales.
Liked you conversions of traxxas slash. That would be fun to have kits.
The sparc drive idea is super cool, but I don't think its really worth it in this scale. However, the idea to have it in a fully independent suspension crawler would be something I'd be way more interested in.
We are missing a Summit V2 with diffs that can handle 8s
Hopefully the new CEO will get Tamiya more up to date....none of their kits should come with bushings over bearings
A Fpv rock crawler from vanquish or fpv crawler comps with on track spotters … it works so well… especially as a winch comp… the spotter runs the winch line and the driver still controls it… we did it with mobile phones and a big screen tv but fpv would be heaps better 👍👍
Actual metal ball bearing included in their kits would be nice.
The community is missing standards, like battery plugs, motors, amd other plugs and even screw heads types
I saw Cody Wagonner post on the 'Gram about the Super but couldn't find that post when I went back to share it.i haven't tried since. Did they jump the gun?
I bet the Super LaserNut was some kind of contract fulfillment for the licensing.
Scx24 chassis plate floor pans and wheel wells. Scale interior 10 scale and 24 scale.
We need an FPV that can simulate actual head turning and driving. I know it's out there in the shadows but we need it mainstream.
I got the feeling that LOSI was gun-shy to promote the Super Lasernut fully because the original was such a poop-show in terms of reliability.
I'm thinking losi grave digger rear diff. Scx10.2 graphite chassis. And the front A arms from a rustler. Make a 2wd.
I'll take a cheap, upgradeable Ultra4 rig that can fit off the shelf 1.9 tires and a stadium truck sized body yesterday
What’s Missing in RC? A Double Deck Trailer! I want to tow my 4wd and 2wd Buggies with my Crawler together! I called RC4WD and asked if they’d make one, they said no :(

Whats missing
All tracks in northern il on road and off road all closed. Nearest tracks are 2 hour drive.
We're missing a leaf-sprung 1/24
10:43 can i mount them on a trx-4 1/10?
Lol, you should buy some of those axles and test them out! Tank turn moon buggy!
A billet aluminum cage & axles for my H10
Honestly, I watched all of the bodies made for Drag Racing wheel base.

I need a cutting break for my XR-10
Thanks Josh for about 2yrs I would wake up and be the first to watch these videos. I was addicted to be first view lol I have screenshot from all of them lol

🛻 there you go, a little truck emoji
Electric cutting breaks /drag break /front dig /rear dig/servo actuated hydro simulated leveling system. Why not adjustable wheel base from the tx. 😂 Where does it stop.
Makes me think rc will be like 1:1 soon and will all be looking for a trail finder with single speed and leafs soon.
Whats missing is true 1/10 scale models so my Nissan hardbody is really half the size of my Chevrolet we have all the links to accommodate why not
Nice to see Traxxas getting a taste of their own medicine.
What's missing..... Just bring back proline Mashers 2000
The Mud Boss Body is a copy of a North East Dirt Modified race car. And the traxxas one is a copy of a IMCA Dirt Modified car.
close but no cigar. What traxxass put out is just a lexan mod body on a slash. The mudboss has reworked suspension.
@@shaynejenkins446 I know the mud boss is a modified body that mounts to the2wd slash
@@HarleyDesignsInc well that kind of sucks
I would love to see cutting breaks for we RC rock crawler buggies.
Been asking for this for years, especially for buggies and short course trucks.
What's missing? Axles with leaf mounts not made by RC3WD. As in we need axels with leaf mounts, Josh. F10TL. See, I even gave you a name for them.
But will that new radio have a Chapstick holder?
Panda hobby are a company from so cal.. their 18th scale stuff is their own design.. I think they're 24th scale stuff is a rebrand tho
I like the Modified name over Mudboss for Traxxas anyway. I never saw this new Lasernut release. I think no way, not for me SparcDrive
Its not a modified either. Its just a body on a slash. no suspension rework.
7:16 how much experience in the hobby dose he have outside the company?
Busy week, huh? Oh because of Independence Day 🇺🇸
Wasn't the Lasernut Losi's RYFT ? Nothing but problems, so by extension, Super Problems ? Curious in the way that people who go to auto racing for the crashes. 😆 It looks awesome, but you know what they say "Once burned twice shy".
I heard the Losi marketing manager is going to Vanquish.😂😅
My my! 30% ads, or nearly the first 5 minutes.
Sparc drive is very cool but is it as cool, as the TRX 4 Bronco with Air ride suspension?? Great Scale News Update! 🛻
Thanks Josh, now I have Amazon shipping me some random razors... I'm gonna need to be reimbursed...
