Brown looks great on me. I'm a soft autumn. Take a look at Gigi Hadid in a brownish lipstick. I personally think you can tell a soft autumn when a brown lipstick turns rosy/mauvy on you. Browns look rosy on me.
Hi lipstick is really tricky for me. I’m extremely cool toned but also ultra pale so everything looks darker or brighter and turns orange/peach (whether it’s called rose, pink, mauve etc and looks that colour in the bullet). In order to be wearable on the majority of people brands put a bit of yellow in almost everything and I have no yellow in my skin or lip tone at all (my lips are naturally a pinky mauve for info). My three best shades for those who are like me are (and this took a very long time and trying on so so so many products): Nude - Urban decay backtalk. In the bullet its a mauve, but on me it’s a nude (a hint of neutral in it) and just a tad deeper than my natural lip colour. Looks great with a smoky eye. Soft pink/rose - Ulta brand in shade 310. In the bullet it looks like a lilac pink, but on me it’s a soft rose pink and really pretty with a cool toned softer eye eg lighter grey or purple etc. Bold pink - Laura Mercier rose mauve. On me this is a bold pink. It loses the more mauve look it has in the bullet and looks good as a bolder shade (almost a bold/ bright rose shade on me). This needs a very simple eye look as it’s a statement colour on me. Red - Nars lipstick in the shade Lovin’ lips. This is my “red” or at least as near to red as I can go. In the bullet it’s a mid tone dusty pink, but on me it’s a soft reddish shade. I cannot find a shade that looks good on me in even many of the high end brands eg Dior, Givenchy, Chanel etc due to the yellow in their pigment mixture. I don’t always buy high end but instead buy according to the shade itself and how it looks on me. A good place to start for cool shades is Nars as they make a few truly cool toned lipsticks and they’re really hard to find. Best wishes x
@ Hi I am not remotely olive and am extremely cool toned ie pinky white (ultra pale Scottish pink white skin). I’m pleased you have worked out what works for you and how to navigate shades accordingly. I need a lot of blue and no yellow pigment to look good on me, whereas as an olive you need a bit of yellow with the blue.
By chance, I came across your channel yesterday and subscibed instantly. I find amazing what you are doing, and I am looking forward to checking out ALL your videos now. Thanks for all the effort, love, and passion you put into them. A big, big Thank You from Germany, Christine
Hi ladies, this is so interesting. Something that might also be of interest is using the same lipstick on both lips and cheeks. It really helps you determine if the colour is right. ❤
Would love this if you could do it with a “clean” brand (like clean at Sephora) for those of us who have to be careful with ingredients. Love the concept!!! ❤you guys are great!
My fav lipstick has long been MAC Syrup (A soft summer shade) but I read that some SS can wear MAC Captive which is a DW shade. It overwhelmes me with full application but found I can tap a little bit very very lightly and add gloss to make it wearable. Trying on lipsticks is super helpful I think when trying to determine season. Also...for those of us over 40. Something I do is make sure I moisturize well with aquaphor and then tap a bit of it on top of my matte lipsticks. I avoid getting to close to the edges to avoid bleeding into the cracks.
Yay!!! Thank you so much for the rest of the L’Oreal colors. Plum Explosion is one of my favorites and Raisin Rapture. I definitely look better in cool colors. Now I have more colors I want to purchase thanks to your video.
I’m loving your color class! I’m light with bright white hair, neutral ( slightly cool ) skin and blue eyes with a gold ring around the pupils. I’ve been color analyzed three different times and been told I’m every season but Autumn. I’m so happy to see you actually talk about neutral coloring! Your classes are so helpful and interesting…. Thanks!!
New to your channel and Love your videos! I adore color texture, style lines etc. I personally find it challenging to bring together all the nuances of true self expression through style and color. Enjoy the depth of wisdom both of you bring to your videos.
I love this channel ❤I can’t wait for Lucinda to try the lighter shades too! I am 54 and used to be I thought a warm, now as I get older not sure anymore.. do y’all do individual color analysis ? I looked up House of Colour and the prices are insane! I would love to see a video on hair color for different seasons too 😀
I absolutely love this type of videos that you make. Last time I ran out and bought some lip Nostick that I have absolutely fallen in love with thanks to you ❤ And I love the idea that if your lipstick can't be used for blush, then you shouldn't wear it. That I bought at your recommendation. I have been using as blush as well as lipstick. And I, i'm absolutely in love with the idea
I've enjoyed both lip shade videos but still haven't seen a shade for light, warm, and bright (shade). I know the I Pink You're Cute might be close I would love to see a coral/peach suggestion. I know you've mentioned springs are a hard season to find lip colors for. Thank you
If I have a bluish tone lipstick that I want to warm up, I finish with a very pale peach lipgloss. If I want to make a warm lipstick cooler, I add a pale berry on top.
Anything that has a brown lean to it looks like mud on me ( I feel that keeps me from the some soft shades if they’re too brown or grey) . Cool or warm. So I’m thinking a need more clear type shades… but I feel I can go cool or warm . I find that exacting what type I am is really difficult. I usually like something that is not brown or brown leaning . Idk 🤷🏼♀️. I feel I can do a clear peach / a clear pink , or a pink red / orange red. I can’t go too light or I look lifeless . I can’t go too deep or I look old. Matte is aging as well. I always choose glossy or moisturizing. Miss Magenta would be a choice of mine.
This is so fun. I was designated winter in the 80s but now as I have entered my 60s I have softened so much. I don't think that I have the contrast to be that cool anymore. I used to wear the lipstick that Lucinda has on a couple of years ago as I softened up. Now I think it is too much. I like the pinkier color to brighten. I have not gone gray but my hair color is a neutral medium brown. Love the tip on adding purple drops! I use a Korean hair mask instead of conditioner with my purple shampoo and it gives more 💜.
I love you in these colors Lucinda. I thought it was funny that I asked people on facebook what my name would have been if it wasn't my name and someone actually suggested Lucinda and I thought of you, haha I hope I am as beautiful growing older than I am /a pasty, neutral-skinned, dishwater/strawberry blonde and basically warm, clear sister
I haven’t worn lipstick in years bc I was worried abt color. This video is very helpful. I thought I was a bright winter but miss magenta was too bright & cool for me.
I LOVE your channel and never miss an episode!!! I was wondering if you gorgeous ladies could do a deep dive into the 21 shades of the L’Oréal Infallible Matte Resistance liquid lipsticks? There are so many warm to cool, soft to clear shades! I think I am a winter ( I was born dark hair, rosy fair skin and dark eyes and brows, went a little lighter hair during the teen years and now I get cool blonde highlights to blend with my grays). Eyes are deep brown and brows are cool deep brown. My best colors are jewel tones and cool nail and lip colors.
Btw: Milani makes a gloss called MOONLIGHT, and it makes any warm lipstick look more cool. It has a bluish/lavender iridescent shift and it is pure magic!!!!
Oh my gosh. I gave away so many lipsticks about a year ago. Because I just it didn't feel like they worked. And here I am headed to ulta beauty to buy lipstick on your recommendation. I appreciate you guys so much
I'm a soft summer and Montmartre is my holy grail shade! Tickled Pink looked truly horrible on me. I should try Organza, though. It looks like an unusual shade but very pretty.
L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Satin in Orange Magique is a great clear and warm tone that I would say straddles between light and deep. It is the most heavily pigmented orange lip I've come across in store, it was not easy to find but it reminds me of the Marilyn Monroe orange lip so much! I recommend trying it out if you ladies are still after some spring tones to recommend. 😊
Hi Sara!! This is Ryleigh. I wanted to tell you that you are doing great on your videos you and lucinda. Oh and I subscribed. keep being Awesome!!😁🙂😊😃😀
Colors either are hot pink or dead gray on me. I’m a dark autumn. The only L’Oréal color I’ve found to work (but I must use a brown nude liner) is #176 Nu Irreverent.
Athena my sis and I wore Bobbi brown lipsticks for years primarily shades brown, brownie, Sandwash pink and pink. To play it safe as pale brunettes.but last two years have wanted to embrace brighter lips.
I thoroughly enjoyed this because this is my absolute favorite lipstick brand! I hope you get a commission from using your Amazon link because you deserve it from all the work you have put into both this and the earlier video on lipstick colors. I am going to try Bronzine and Plum Explosion :)
You all are wonderful! Would you consider covering olive undertoned people at some point, that is, people who don’t have lots of red in them but can be fair, medium or deep? In addition to being warm or cool, which I understand they can be depending on each olivey person, it feels like the absence of red in their skin does something to colors that are put upon them. It would help to understand why and have it thought through carefully as you both do. Does it have to do with complementarity? An example, I can wear most winter (esp deep winter colors), but if I wear the reds, including red lipstick, I just don’t look good. My theory is that red clothing and lipstick is just too contrasted on cool olive undertones, but I don’t fully understand. (Reds for me really need to be so blued out that they are nearly pink).
I bought a few from just watching. I already have tons of shades if you ever need a deep autumns opinion on a shade. I am medium in all scales except the warmth I’m a bit more so . My hair is dark but my eyes are green hazel. I had raisin rapture and like it a lot though revlon rum raisin is even better. When peach fuzz was mentioned it has this weird shimmer and it’s too light but photographed I looked young but it gave me a different look. I hate it in everyday though I love peach parfait but peach fuzz and tropical coral have a shimmer and looks wrong. I’m still hunting for my red so I may try blazing lava. I’ve had other list say British red but it’s not. I’m softer than that and it looks clownish. Shimmer in my nail polish is where it belongs. I’m just in an experiment of finding my palettes in each thing.
My lips to balance my face have to be medium to dark and leaning dark. The upper half of my face and hair is deeper than my lips so it adds balance going darker than natural . I do want to find a fun pop of color that look great but is fun. I sometimes go to play gigs and want to have a different look than everyday and to stand out as a performer.
I look forward to the next set. Thank you for doing affordable easy to get brands. As we experiment with what shades are good , it has to be inexpensive. Once people have the right set in the cheaper items then they might go get the pricier ones. Getting the right depth I think has been tricker as I explore color than if I’m needing a warmer color.
Too, I wonder if Lucinda doesn't shy away from light lipsticks as I've noticed (68) that light lipsticks can make me look older. So maybe that's what she feels. When we were young white lipstick was all the rage.
Maybe you can grab some models and put these lipsticks on the models who you think they would look best for as well as those who may be able to share some!
Love your videos. But I still cannot understand soft vs clear. There were shades on this video that looked soft to me but it said it was clear. For example...I pink you're cute looks soft to me.
I’m happy to be a clear but having fair skin it’s tough to not wear a too pale lip or a too dark of a lip. Too pale I look like a corpse too dark I look like a vampire 🧛🏻
I've binge watched so many clips and NOTHING has sunk into my brain. I'm 65, gray, red faced rosacea, Old rule teeth. It's hard to find a shade. I don't want my teeth to look worse.
I'm a light, cool, soft. But all the colours that fall in that category would look aweful on me. I've got some pigmented lips. I need a darker color to wear. No nudes or light pinks or mauves for me. Darker mauves I can do. Berries and plums I can do. Even a red I can do. Nudes look god aweful
Hi, Love you both! Bobby Brown is wrong and Lucinda is correct 🩷.Browns can make you look ghoulish very quickly. Lucinda also mentioned that a nude lip can make you look as though you were at the morgue and I wholeheartedly agree. I am a bright winter, and I ordered a lipstick from the L’Oreal selection. I love both of your lipstick 💄 choices for yourselves , and I think that Lucinda’s punch of color is very radiating. Stick with it. 🩷💄🩷💄
Would love a table or list for each season! Thanks for all the great videos 😊
I never looked forward to school before until Color Class! 😊
haha same !
I just love this series of classes! You are saving us so much money by helping to eliminate poor makeup color choices. Keep ‘em coming! 🌸❤️
Yes to a lipstick try-on! 😊

You two are so unique in your analysis of color! I love that you hit on all the things!
I have a peachy lipstick that is slightly too light. When I put peach gloss on, it makes it work better. Gloss is a game changer
Max prep and prime works great to stop the feathering. Put it above your lip line.

Temptalia is a great resource for makeup dupes if anyone wants to see if anything they already own matches up with these suggestions. 💄
I absolutely love this style of video! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! We will be doing much more!

Really loved this..I like plums always but it gives me more! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!

This is so incredibly useful!
I Pink You're Cute turned orange on me, not in a good way. I'm a summer.
Are you olive in undertone?
@@murtila4456No, a light, slightly pink, beige. Why do you ask?
Only 3 months later and almost 9000 subscribers😊😊🎉
Absolutely!! This is so educational! I have learned so much from you both❤
I believe I'm a soft summer and just went out and picked up Mica....perfect shade ❤
Please do a video trying these ones on!!
I love this channel ❤I can’t wait for Lucinda to try the lighter shades too! I am 54 and used to be I thought a warm, now as I get older not sure anymore.. do y’all do individual color analysis ? Used to love Toasted Almond and Cinnamon Toast, but I'm allergic to the color riche line now. :( Very educational video though!
I'm summer, and I used to wear a brown shimmer stick lipstick from burts bees. I got compliments but they discontinued it.
I absolutely love this type of videos that you make.

Awesome video!
I am a warm and used to own a lipstick called Cafe au Lait from Cover Girl. It was actually very pretty on.
I'm so happy that your channel is doing well ! You both give the most thorough explanations and are so very cute together!👭
I've enjoyed both lip shade videos but still haven't seen a shade for light, warm, and bright (shade). I know the I Pink You're Cute might be close I would love to see a coral/peach suggestion. I know you've mentioned springs are a hard season to find lip colors for. Thank you
Yes! Watched both videos hoping to find a great shade (or rather tint 😂) for springs!
Tropical coral!! It's not super bright but I'm a light spring and it's a perfect natural looking lipstick on me.
I'm a deep autumn and I love brown lipstick! Also, I'm really enjoying your videos, thank you :)
I was waiting for some orange and coral shades🧐😝🥰
Tropical coral is my favorite loreal color. Great fir springs. Idk why they didn't use that as an example

Lucinda, what color lipstick do you have on?
Yes it's beautiful
Raisin Rapture would definitely suit me, might be a little bright but that's an easy fix.
This was soooo helpful, thankyou so much! Your analysis helped me pinpoint my optimal lip shades!
Glad it was helpful!

The Raspberry Rush colour looks wonderful 😺😸. It looks like very bright, but it will surely compliment my overall colouring beautifully 💛✨️💗💖🩷💝💓💞💕.
Is there any chance you could have some live models of the light, deep, cool, clear variety that would be great. And very helpful

Oooooohhh I love the lip color fashion show!!! ❤

Have you ever heard that a woman’s best lip color is to match the inside of her bottom lip? Do you have an opinion on that?
Yes, it’s what I do.
That’s clever ❤
Raisin rapture for this deep !! 💯
I loveee the i pink you're cute shade it def is more natural than the blazing hot pinks and reds you see in most recommendations for clear people. :D
Google tells me the American pronunciation for mauve is maav and the British pronunciation is mowv. Love the idea of lip color fashion show.
Mary Kay used to have the perfect “blue red”. I’ve been trying to find a replacement for it. 🥺😤😭
I agree that one needs to be a special person to wear a brown lipstick.
Crazy but I can- I have light neutral skin tone, brown hair, hazel green/brown eyes with a few golden brown freckles.
I will be looking for some great lip gloss.
Montemarte looks pretty dark on me!!!
Dear Lucinda, I could imagine that a pinkish lip colour might give you some freshness and thus substract a couple of years....
Love your videos. But I still cannot understand soft vs clear. There were shades on this video that looked soft to me but it said it was clear. For example...I pink you're cute looks soft to me.
Charlotte tilbury has the best matte lipsticks that don’t dry out at all!
I say mauved like with a long "o"
Teeth color matters too though. I think a cool color makes my teeth look whiter but my skin is warm
PSA: Tropical Coral is the a great color for springs. On me it's a great "your lips but better" shade.
I agree with Sarah and Lucinda, not Bobby Brown. I look horrible in brown shades of lipstick.
The lipsticks with the rare exception are almost all soft.
Such a great point!
❤
I’m happy to be a clear but having fair skin it’s tough to not wear a too pale lip or a too dark of a lip. Too pale I look like a corpse too dark I look like a vampire 🧛🏻
I've binge watched so many clips and NOTHING has sunk into my brain. I'm 65, gray, red faced rosacea, Old rule teeth. It's hard to find a shade. I don't want my teeth to look worse.
Thank you for this video! I’m pretty sure I’m a Soft Summer~ bought “Mauved” and “Mica”. Mauved looks great! 🤍💕
LIP COLOR FASHION SHOW!!!!! Of all the makeup I have my lipstick drawer is OVER FLOWING! HELP!!
I can’t see the color shift, they all look the same on each bar.
Ugh, I can’t get past the smell of L’Oréal lipstick 💄🙄.
It’s MAWV
