Tonewinner d6000 seems to be another sub that could be included in this conversation, one channel said it outperformed the svs at half the price or so. Probably from china, but a very well put together design overall. Another one that needs more attention is starke as a budget sub can get into 15" ported for quite cheap.

The fact that it is one meter away in positioning is a huge deal, though. Sub placement in the room is extremely crucial. I realize moving the subs around between tests isn't easy, but you were still no listening to the same thing. If I move my head in the couch one meter the subs in my room sound completely different.
With the waterbottle you are comparing the speed of air. But lower speed is better, because it's less audible (as an sound artifact), as long as they provide the same SPL.
After having PB16s, I built 2 18" Ultimax subs in GSG martycube enclosures and honestly the Ultimaxes are way better, deeper, and way cheaper. Go DIY for your subs
I like my Klipsch Cinema 600 soundbar. I will need to add surround speakers at some time, as I didn't get the 5.1 kit but the 3.1. I will also want to swap out the sub with an RP maybe the 12 at some time. My current sub is actually doing good if it's in the corner. So placement is still important. Great demo of the subs. The SVS sounds great, as does the Klipsch. SVS might seem to hit harder, but I'm still liking the Klipsch RP, especially since there's a price difference between them. Context, I'm in an efficiency apartment, so I think anything over the 12 is overkill. Which can be fine to go overkill sometimes, but in this case it'll mean I have to dial back the sub too much.
Great video & totally agree with your opinion. You get what you pay for, and SVS uses much higher quality components. If you look at both manufacturers drivers, removed from their cabinets, you will immediately see how anemic the 1600SW driver is compared to SVS. Stamped steel basket on the Klipsch versus SVS cast aluminum for strength & regidity. Put quality components together, and it shows in the final product. I heard on Youthman’s podcast that Klipsch told him the RP-1600sw is meant to go head to head with the SVS pb4000. According to him Klipsch has another sub that will compete with the SVS PB 16 Ultra ,that they are currently developing.
I am always concerned about home theatres in apartments, how do you fully enjoy the audio in an apartment without disturbing your neighbours? I have just competed my Klipsch speaker collection, with 3 x 12 inch subs and I am looking to install it very soon.
@@blackapino4life i also have a dual pb3000 and im thinking adding either pb16 or klipsch 1600. How do you like the 1400 compared to pb3000? You mentioned being louder do you mean like deeper bass?
Bro you can’t compare an 1600€ Klipsch sub with an 3500-4000€ Svs subwoofer, that is obviously way better in all points. I think even 2 Klipsch couldn’t compete with one single Pb 16. But great Video 👌👌
Hello, it has nothing to do with the subwoofer. but since you know both models, monitor audio silver or Klipsch 8000f-II for movies? system 5,1 with two pb3000 svs Thanks for your vídeo
The Klipsch is going to be way better for music but I hate to tell you this but Klipsch is having problems with some of the Rp1600 subwoofers @ this time this guy has a dead one on,his hands as well after this video.I also had a Rp1600 go dead on me so please buy with care .Tone winer is a New big boy on the block to check out good luck shopping around if you would like to see,a video of what happened to my Klipsch Subwoofer RP1600 please let me know cheers 🍺👍🍺
Awesome video my uncle have that 16" svs but he doesnt use it, its always unplugged i have no heard it, he says he likes to hear music without a sub... i dont understand why any1 would buy such an expensive sub and not use it...
Two years ago - I was facing an issue on deciding which sub to go with between SVS PB16U or this Klipsch.. I took a gamble and went SVS.. Never regretted it.. So I brought a 2nd PB16U... You want to say earthquake in a box!!
Technically both designs are affected by less than optimal port cross sectional area for driver swept volume. Commercial consumer audio is literally all about the compromises per msrp! The SVS blowing over a plastic bottle at half XMax is not necessary a good thing! Audition gear in person, and see what tickles your auditory pickle!
Funnily enough you simply sat on the speakers is a big help lol Gives me an idea of the largest size I'll be able to get away with with the wife l I think the Rw1200 is the limit on size & goes down very low on frequency to 16.5 Hz that is my main requirement. I imagine the 14 & 16 are just louder & more poweful. I'll be using mine for hi fi more than cinema. Are these good hi fi subs too?
@homecinemaking397 thanks for that. It it because sealed are faster on transients? Not sure a sealed sub will go as low on Hz. If one's listening to organ music as I often do, then organ bass pipes have slow attack times. So slower speaker but with deeper frequency response is probably better. Will check out what sealed subs will go down to Hz wise
Jesus that klipsch sub housing is massive compared to the SVS and that's already big enough.. I can't imagine having two of these in my house taking up so much floor space.. lol😂..
Rp1600sw great value for what you get, but agree that SVS stil tops on output and performance. PB16 needs another competitor. Whats happening to Velodyne, especially in SA? Still around or not?
First minute of viewing I thought, hmmmm, what kind of test is this? One out in the room, one getting lots of gain from the front wall.........not very fair. Next time, if the reviewer is having difficulty moving those things, there SHOULD have been help on hand!
SVS is more detailed the klipsch is cheap here and the klipsch is way louder than the SVS from a value standpoint the klipsch is a no brainer and u wouldn’t notice the difference in detail unless u listening to both
I was just wondering why you have your centre channel placed inside the cabinet. After all, isn't there room on top? IDK if you know this, but the way you currently have your centre channel, the virtual effects are pretty limited.
This room changes every week so i have different places to put speakers. This one just happens to be in the cabinet. There was not always room on top, we just recently put that tv up.
The Monolith 16 is a significant step up over the PB16 Ultra in output. Bigger driver though. They list it as a 16, but in reality it measures out to 18.
Klipsch is what you buy at walmart or old skool circuit city stores. They are made for momma and dadda who want something cheap. It is what it is. I have klipsch the sevens for my pc, but for my living room home setup, I will not buy klipsch anything. SVS, HSU and other brands are made for audio quality. Klipsch literally sells these subs at walmart. Good luck. Whatever you get, enjoy it. You do not need to have the best. Just get what makes you happy and move on. Stop comparing yourself to others.
Nice demo, I do disagree with you on one thing. The klipsch is limited in application and control where has the SVS shines in this as well as performance. I would take a single SVS over 4 Klipsch due to this alone. I have 3 systems and am always trying new things and some of this involves vintage systems that I need a line level in out connection. Klipsch does not have this. Before you say it yes I could y adapt them and do it that way but, I prefer not to. For me it is just a obsession. I really did not like the klipsch at all to me they sounded much more muddy than the svs even on mild bass like you said the heart beat. I could clearly hear it on svs and through my computer speakers I could not make it out at all in the klipsch too much mud.
@@homecinemaking397 I personally do not feel that multiplying a lesser performing speaker does anything to make them perform better. As I stated the features of the SVS blow away the Klipsch completely. When it comes to price points features can be a reason I might spend more for a item. If the Klipsch did not obviously lose this comparison then yes I would jump in head first on them because value for buck but, wait, does not have feature that I need for my applications, nope still out, even if they out performed svs I would still be possibly out why. Lack of features! I can point one out it is a simple one but, very important to someone like me. I noticed you had center port of svs plugged. To change sound for test and put it closer to the other speaker? or personal preference? I believe the latter. So to someone like myself who may move my sub from living room to bedroom and need a little tighter bass in one room vs the other I can accomplish this easily. The lack of line level outputs of the Klipsch totally baffles me why. I also have to say now you are talking about 4 totally different subs i.e. RP 1200 vs RP1600. That is not what we were talking about. I will say this we can play this game all day long when it comes to Klipsch you talk about money factor and x4. Sir, I could choose to get 4 SVS PB 2000 Pro with ports for 100 more per speaker than the RP 1200 with again better performance via much wider frequency response i.e. svs at 16-290hz vs the 1200 at 16.5 - 138hz again more features, more power and get 10% off my cost. Which puts cost at $3959.97 vs how much did you pay? $3996 am I close? so lets just say the same for a speaker that once again has less performance, less power, much more limited frequency response. OK SVS will destroy Klipsch at any and all price points. I would even venture to say that I could pit PB1000 pro at 200 less per speaker and has same discount and I could still destroy your system in everything except power. That said back to the original system. I would take 2 Ultras vs 4 and I am sure they would out perform the 4 1600s except in loudness. Just my opinion. Still liked your video and like I said we could debate our life away on this subject if we are going to I am going to need a whiskey.
To fully dial in subs in a room, if you have multiple especially, adding a MiniDSP HD to do the processing is kind of a no-brainer, and then using REW to do EQ curves for the subs. Price-wise, one of these subs and a MiniDSP is still vastly cheaper than the SVS unit. Also - multiple subs are often a huge boon, you do get 3 db more headroom but more crucially you get vastly smoother bass reponse in multiple seats. If all you care about is literally one seat, then sure, a single sub can do the job.
@@KimmoJaskari ever heard of Dirac live before…? Granted REW and mini dsp had its place but it old tech now. On new multi sub units with Dirac this is no longer needed.
The SVS to me has greater attack or impact on each note that hits, and the driver doesn't even look like its distorting at all, unlike the klipsch. The klipsch is no slouch though and its £2000 cheaper at £1500 in the uk.
He could do the monolith M215 or even the M@K X12+ or X15+!!!! 🎉 Good video. Btw. If you could expand on that driver “wobble” effect you mentioned.. what causes that? Only seen In slo motion. Ps. Is it possible the Klipsch wasn’t all the way broken in yet? I’ve seen an identical video comparing these two and the Klipsch came out the winner big tone. 🎉
They both make air noises, which probably wouldn't be so drastic with the SVS if all three ventilations had been open, but the SVS sounds more differentiated. I'm a little disappointed with the Klipsch, my home-made one sounds better.

Klipsch electronics are made by 3rd graders with crayons. Save yourself the nightmare. I used to be a Klipsch fan. I purchased bar 48 w/ subwoofer and bookshelf speakers, the portable Klipsch Bluetooth travel speaker “the Nashville” , four subs (2 10” wired) (1 12” wired) 1 12” Bluetooth) also purchased Klipsch reference 800. However , after anything with Bluetooth failed in two years and ZERO help from Klipsch customer service - I’m done. They have now partnered with Onkyo ! Onkyo? … really ? And the new products look terrible. The klipsch boat is sinking fast people. I cannot stress this enough - DO NOT BUY KLIPSCH PRODUCTS. ITS NOT THE SAME COMPANY. ZERO QUALITY. It’s now corporate acquisition after corporate acquisition Voxx in 2011 and recently Onkyo - the company is not the same and their products show this. Garbage. After two years failure and the customer service rep told me “toss it in the trash” and emailed me a 10% future purchases. Unacceptable!

The monolith subs are apparently really good. Doesn't this compete with the pb3000? And not the 16 ultra

16 inches, 1600 watts, it's perfectly reasonable to match it against the Ultra.
I own a SVS SB4000 since 5 months, thinking about a second one (50% music 50%hc). They're amazing

Bro you can’t compare an 1600€ Klipsch sub with an 3500-4000€ Svs subwoofer, that is obviously way better in all points. I think even 2 Klipsch couldn’t compete with one single Pb 16. But great Video 👌👌

Klipsch still good bang for buck👌
@@homecinemaking397 And for 3500 you can get the JTR Captivator 2400. This is a completly other level
Agreed always audition 👌
Funnily enough you simply sat on the speakers is a big help lol
Gives me an idea of the largest size I'll be able to get away with with the wife l
I think the Rw1200 is the limit on size & goes down very low on frequency to 16.5 Hz that is my main requirement.
I imagine the 14 & 16 are just louder & more poweful.
I'll be using mine for hi fi more than cinema.
Are these good hi fi subs too?
@@pobinr 16 and 14” is huge, 12” is better to fit in a room. Not bad a hifi but you could do better going for a sealed sub.
@ just go big then like the SB16 or 17👍
Jesus that klipsch sub housing is massive compared to the SVS and that's already big enough.. I can't imagine having two of these in my house taking up so much floor space.. lol😂..

2 14" Klipsch vs 1 svs?
If you are going to stick with the 2 klipsch then yes but if there is any chance of maybe getting two svs later then do that.
And don't forget for break in time for a new speaker
Yes this was not new it was a prior demo.

Each too there own. In my main cinema i replaced 1x16 ultra with 4 RP1200 and trust you me, i will blow your mind over one 16 ultra.
Have one for myself
The Svs pb 16 lost against the klipsch 1600sw because both was up against a wall so this not a fair battle
Lol
The SVS to me has greater attack or impact on each note that hits, and the driver doesn't even look like its distorting at all, unlike the klipsch. The klipsch is no slouch though and its £2000 cheaper at £1500 in the uk.
the klipsch sounds better because it hasn"t that port chuffing and more control of the driver and that rattling is annoying .
